I'm the same age as the kids in the lord of the flies. When I read the book, the motives behind the characters' actions, and the different types of symbolism in the story really intrigued me! I hoped to converse and share with people who enjoyed learning about the psychological side of lotf on Tumblr, but all I got was shipping (in the regular universe), and nsfw fanfiction. I'm frankly a bit repulsed by all of that, especially with the hypersexualization of underage characters.
Honestly same, I when I read the book I was excited at suck a large fandom, but the issues with large fandom is there will always be good and bad sides
