ok weird niche hot take about indiana jones kingdom of the crystal skull but the “nuke the fridge” scene is actually a great metaphor for how out of reach the idea of a family was for indy and how the events of his life forced him to rule out any long term relationships in favor of self preservation. He literally had to run from the ‘nuclear family’ possibility whenever it presented itself.

as you well know, the biggest question on the street these days is “oh shit! oh fuck! If the main cast members of box office flop Escape Room 2: Tournament of Champions, had dnd classes, what would they be??” Well fear not!! I am here to answer that question!! I spent 90 minutes of my life on this!

Nate: oath of redemption paladin, i feel like I don’t have to explain this one

Brianna: college of glamour bard, she didn’t have much characterization but nevertheless I think it goes well with the influencer thing, the mantle of inspiration ability is a really good fit for her subtle kind of resourcefulness and methods of survival that don’t depend on physical strength

Ben: circle of dreams druid bc i think it goes well with his support position throughout the movie. On the plane, in the car etc etc, even when he was drowning he was focused on zoe getting out alive. He was also the one to save nate, and waited till the last second to try to save brianna. One line from the circle of druids summary is “their magic mends wounds and brings joy to downcast hearts…and the realms they protect are where the weary can find their rest” so. Yeah

Zoe: rogue scout? Scout rogue? Whatever? First of all, abilities like ambush master and survivalist fit Zoe to a T, but also just the way she is constantly the one to go further, the first to push into the new rooms and danger and stuff. Tldr the abilities fit REALLY well (also looking at skirmisher) and her mix of extreme perception and determination would compliment that class really well

Rachel: gloom stalker ranger, mostly because of the subway scene but also the rain one, she was so willing to throw herself into the most dangerous situations, but in a way that’s different from Zoe bc she was doing it in a defensive effort to protect others from confirmed danger as opposed to zoe who was venturing into *unknown* situations in an offensive effort to defeat Minos. The line “Most folk enter such places with trepidation, but a gloom stalker ventures boldly into the darkness, seeking to ambush threats before they can reach the broader world” resonates w her I think
