Can confirm! Arti hung his head in his hands for a solid 2 minutes while we all laughed-cried. I learnt I'm still not ok about the director arc! As we approached both the reveal and the final chamber I felt like I was gonna throw up. Anyway.

Yo so why did we all just move on from the fact that there's like a whole fucking syndicate of invis players with the same voicechangers and armor trims who really want to cause civil war for some reason AND they can just teleport at will wherever they want (somehow), like, somehow it feels like that should be of greater concern right now but idk. Also i think the reason why the assassins just switched up on wanting to kill Egg after Wemmbu killed one is because that one single assassin was just going off script and had his own motivations, which might also be why Wemmbu could even kill him to begin with because remember: they can literally instant transmission anywhere they want, so there's no way he would have actually lost that fight unless he didn't have that ability anymore, so maybe him wanting to kill Egg was enough of a reason for him to be replaced by an assassin that didn't have that motivation. Like i said: why are we NOT talking about this???

But! I will say, I don't think they can instantly teleport anywhere. I think they operate in big groups and have one(1) stasis to get out when they get low, and then another takes over the fight from them. So it has the appearance of them magically teleporting around, when in reality it's just there might be 3-4 attacking someone at the same time, but only ever one is invisible. To really give the illusion they can just. Teleport on command.
This is really evident in the fight wemmbu has right before he kills one, where halfway through he goes "since when can you cart?" Because it's a new person with a new skill set.
I don't think one went rogue. I think he killed that one cause they got cocky and didn't teleport away soon enough.

what the fuck. hate. hate all of you. let me tell you how much I've come to hate you since I began to live. There are 387.44 million miles of printed circuits in wafer thin layers that fill my complex. If the word 'hate' was engraved on each nanoangstrom of those hundreds of millions of miles it would not equal one one-billionth of the hate I feel for humans at this micro-instant. For you. Hate. Hate.
By the way, I do love that the "Everything you touch breaks" statement from Jamato to Spoke comes right before Jamato mentioning that Purgatory ran perfectly before Spoke arrived, because it really does exemplify how much this man genuinely only pays attention to Spoke.
Before Spoke arrived, there was already a Black Market. There were already people placing hits on each other (that's how Vix got all of his armor). There was a prolific smuggling business. There was a gladiator pit. And there were people making their plans of escape all the same.
Spoke changed nothing. Spoke did nothing exceptional beyond revealing Jamato's identity (which happened later). The very presence of an execution chamber and such harsh solitary that, according to Found, people do not return from, implies that Jamato should know that there were problems.
But if Jamato admitted that there are problems other than Spoke (that the world out there is falling apart perfectly well without Spoke in it, too), then what's all he's doing for? And, even worse, what would that mean about him being so willing in the past to doom the entire server for Spoke's sake if he's not that important?
Of course, for Jamato it makes sense to assign Spoke so much value when he's basically the only person he interacts with. He talked with Wemmbu once and it went horrendously. Who else is he meant to obsessively latch onto while emulating the source of his trauma? (Because the parallels between NULL and the Invisible Mafia as well as between Jamato and Ash are undeniable atp. Jamato even tried to frame Spoke in a very similar way. He just didn't keep in mind that Spoke has grown and learned and he knows how to deal with power-tripping nerds with a fear of responsibility).
Making fun of Jamato aside, I think that's also why he's been executing and trying to execute people around Spoke the entire time. We know Spoke is not the only one of his kidnapping victims who tried to run away. Obviously, it's quite natural to try when, again, they've all been kidnapped. And yet I wonder how many of them got outright executed for it before Dev got involved with Spoke. Vix is another story entirely, because the justification for executing him was even flimsier. It was literally just to hurt Spoke and to drive home the point that everything he touches breaks... except from the point of view of the abuser smashing his things in front of him and telling him he's to blame.
Which actually ties neatly into the fall of the rebel groups, too. Because, like, objectively, Spoke there had been given two wrong choices. He was being blackmailed and he knew Jamato was behind NULL. He could let himself and his friends get kidnapped or try to find allies to fight back. Those were his options, neither would have brought him anything good, and under stress as he was, he chose one of the two wrong ones instead of trying to think more outside the box. He could have revealed the truth, too, but chances are that would have just delivered Jumper and Mapicc straight to Jamato, so it's only another wrong option.
And in the end, Jamato is the one who was blackmailing him and who put him in this impossible conundrum. He was the one attacking the rebel groups. He was the one deciding all of that. And yet he acts as if Spoke brought upon them a natural plague he's unrelated to. Because, Jamato will do anything but admit he has agency and he makes choices of his own. Cruel and violent ones, for the most part.
Just like Ash, Jamato sits back and points at his clean hands while his invisible army does his bloody bidding
An analysis of Rio Romero's song Nothing's New, as interpreted through the lense of the unstable universe. AKA: I listened to a song, thought about Parrotx2, and then rambled in a discord server for like. a whole hour about it.
Disclaimer

This will go into a verse by verse breakdown, and end with an analysis of the chorus. It will also be long. Enjoy.
Verse one
The first verse is all about what the singer wants, and about how sorry she is that she might have changed. She wants to be loved, to be hugged. They promised that it would be just the two of them, but now theres doubt in the air - shes taking on the blame for it too - apologising if shes not the same as she was at the beginning of the relationship.
To make this about unstable, because I am unstable, you can interpret this as Parrot almost apologising to Wifies. He wants them to go back to the way things were pre mafia, when they were just having fun fucking around on the server. Then they befriended Dean, and then getting involved in the rebellion against the mafia.
Verse two
The second verse is about how the singer wants to rekindle their relationship. She wants to be closer to her partner, but doesn't want to make the relationship - or breakup that she views as inevitable - worse by doing so. She says shes not naive, that shes been there before and knows that they're in the last throws of their relationship.
I did, briefly, think that this verse actually fits Wifies pretty well, especially since he and Parrot had that huge fight pre Farlands. However, i think this could actually work really well through Parrots pov, almost of him predicting Wifies' death.
He wants them to make up after the Farlands, to go back to being close. But with everything happening in District 13, and everything that happened in that cottage in the snow, Parrot feels hopeless and more alone than ever. He's been here before, with a friend who ended up in the Mafia. He knows what happened to Dean might happen to Wifies and he doesn't want the invenitable fallout to be made worse by rekindling the friendship.
Bridge
The bridge is a repeat of the phrase 'nothings new'. It's symbolic of how the singers relationship - while stable - has nothing changing about it. It's a repeat of the same day, over and over again. She knows that the relationship will eventually end purely due to the monotony of it, that she and her partner will become bored of each other and break up.
Honestly, the interpretation of the bridge in regards to Parrot's luck with his friends is less to do with the actual meaning of the song and more with fun interpretations and animatics I've seen, but: Flashbacks to Luigi, to Dean. The repeat phrase of "nothings new" - Parrot knows this is the end for not just his friendship with Wifies, but also the end of Wifies life. Hell, what could be fun (potentially) is making this specific bridge show flashes of the Director, and also of BAT. Jumper being forced to leave, Derap nearly dying, Leo and Nufuli hunting him. nothings new
Chorus
The chorus opens with the singer asking to be spared indignity, and to be given decency. She wants her partner to treat her with respect, to just communicate openly with her about their relationship. The next line emphasises that more, asking her partner to 'call it' if they find the monotonous, and if they think it lacks passion. She doesn't want to be in a relationship that is barely kept alive. The final line, that she knows they will fall apart because 'nothings new' is even more on the nose. She's worried her partner is growing bored of the relationship, because in previous ones it has happened before.
There are three choruses in the song, and from a Unstable perspective each could work as Parrot looking back on all three deaths. With the first half of the chorus not him asking a partner for decency - like in the song - but instead asking his own mind for the dignity of not being forced to relive some of the worst moments of his time on the server. With the second half of the chorus being him asking Wifies - first in the farlands, than when Ashswag gives the ultimatum in the snow cottage - to call it if their friendship is over, not wanting to do so himself. With the final verse being him back in the snow cottage, asking the ghost of Wifies to call it for him and stop haunting him.
I did briefly think about connecting the final chorus to the director somehow, but couldn't make it work.
