Quick what are you doing RIGHT now (besides scrolling Tumblr)
one of my coworkers (yes, one of the two mentioned previously) left her laptop in her car and it was stolen. my boss just called and they’re buying me a new laptop and giving her my old one 😈
hello I am at my wits end and I need to know something. Do you talk to your mother every day?
Yes
No
No nuance. If you don’t have a mother/are no contact etc this is not a poll for you.
You can elaborate as to how often you feel is a regular amount of communication between an adult child and their mother.
Leprosy, also known as Hansen’s disease, can impact a person’s nerves, muscles, skin, eyes and respiratory tract, causing large bumps all ov
We're doing great.
this is great, christians will truly get a chance to re-enact christ-like care of people with leprosy
at the risk of sounding like a broken record one time too many, it’s completely wild to me how little interest my parents had in me as a child and how little interest my mom has in me as an adult. i guess i believe (?) she loves me (?) but ????????
one of our best friends has been out of town for training for a few months and came back. his first request was a crab walk (which ended up being more of a drive than a walk but we had crab rangoon at 3 different places). each characteristic was rated out of three and respectively represents their score, mk’s score, and my score
and with your help it can rack up 700k notes on tumblr in 2024
no tumblr this doesnt need tags im releasing it into the wild as god intended
Yeah okay, I'll rebark that!
i like seeing how many people cried real tears in the notes
settings > wound > my wound > reopen
do not forget this
I know this question has been asked by others before, but *I* was thinking about it today so....
How often do you wash your hair?
More than once a day (??!)
Once a day
Every other day
A couple times a week
Once a week
Less frequently than once a week
Bald
all hope is not lost! j decided not to run this am so maybe i can still jump in to support his long run tomorrow!!!!
re: blood donation recovery
i walked mae to/from the vet (2.5 mi total) in the morning and felt okay. i hydrated (ish) and brought extra electrolytes for my run with a friend but the run was in full sun at 3p and extremely toasty. i ended up throwing up in my mouth, which i don’t recall ever happening to me on a run before, and my run felt much harder than normal. guess that 20% of my total blood volume was doing some heavy lifting? my stomach hurt post run for a bit but then felt better.
i went to dinner with a different friend and it was weirdly stressful! even though i like her a lot! and she was very kind! we’ve known each other for at least 2 years! i don’t know why it was so bad but i left with an aching throat (which is normally sore from the sinus issues but only aches like that when i’m very stressed/tense) and when i got home, i couldn’t sleep because my stomach hurt so bad. i was supposed to run with a friend this morning and i texted him last night saying i would drive separately because i don’t know how many miles i can do.
i went to bed at 10 but didn’t fall asleep until after midnight. when my alarm went off at 5, i texted my friend j and bailed on the run because i think it would have been worse to go and ruin his long run than to leave him unsupported but i’m not actually sure! he was very kind and understanding. i was/am feeling a lil better this am but it’s so hot and i have work today and lunch plans and dinner plans and we have plans tomorrow and i was worried, if i ran 10 miles in the heat with an already iffy stomach, i would have to bail on everything else we have planned and that felt worse??
anyway this has been a long ramble to say my period is coming, i’m still irritated about the uninformed decision i made to donate 20% of my total blood volume, i feel like a bad friend, and i’m now behind on my totally arbitrary mileage goals for the week (i’m not training for anything and don’t have any intention of signing up for another race in 2026 other than the hometown 10k which is not a serious race).
i had dreams about work, negotiating my new salary, my former stepfather, a client i used to work with, and a few other high stress topics. did i say dreams? i meant nightmares.
off to walk the dog now before my meeting and then i will have lunch with a friend that is 80% likely to reset my nervous system.
The bravest thing you can do is stop mourning the life you expected and start noticing the one that's trying to find you.
oh i see
basic situation at my job is as follows:
we have about 20ish people on our corporate team (which is just what the founder calls the FT staff). we have about 2-300 hourly employees. we have offices in 2 different cities.
i work in City A with one other person, who is under my supervision. the rest of the corporate team is in City B. occasionally, the other team members come to my office but, for the most part, everything happens in City B. the reason for the split offices is that, per our contract with the org i support, i have to be able to be on site within 10 mins if there is a crisis. so my supervisee and i work in City A. we oversee about 30-40 hourly employees and i support 16 schools.
there are 4 other people at my company with my title. 2 aren’t full time and don’t count for the purpose of this post. 2 are full time and do count. one of them shares my name, and i will refer to her as SN (same name). SN and i are the same age and she was hired like a week before me. i have more experience and education. we have been in competition since we started, partly because the founders put us against each other and partly because we both want a promotion.
last year, they created an award for me (employee of the year). this year, she won it. our supervisor has had two children since i started. her first mat leave was most of 2024 into 2025 and her second mat leave was end of 2025 to present. this matters because SN has appointed herself as our supervisors replacement (which she has been in some ways, but not in ANY way that makes her MY supervisor).
SN has been slowly and subtly removing me from all important communication. most recently, while i was doing my week of 16 trainings, she decided to “take some things off my plate to help” aka reassigned herself responsibilities that have historically been mine (the clinical roundtables i started and the conference i have historically coordinated, planned, and led - i have been the keynote almost every year, she has not).
anyway, she sent an email and asked my thoughts and i responded and said, basically, this looks fine but i’m confused about why i wasn’t included in the process. she sent a chat full of hearts and emojis saying she didn’t MEAN to exclude me, it just HAPPENED. i accept her fake apology.
the next day, i’m looking at her calendar and see that she has a recurring event with the other person who shares our title and it’s a planning meeting. i wasn’t invited. i ask why and she said, basically it was an oversight.
today, she sends a chat to me & other person who shares out title (OPWSOT) and says OPSWOT and i came up with this, here’s this document and our thoughts, can we get your input? and i respond and say “it looks like you & OPWSOT have it covered; i’m not sure what input from me would be helpful”. she says “wanted to see if you also want to adopt this and pick the topic for august”. i responded by saying “if you really wanted my input, i’d have been involved prior to the final step. feel free to do what works for your team”. she and OPWSOT have read the message but no one responded.
our supervisor comes back monday and i can’t wait for my 1:1. anyway, this is what i mean when i say i like my work but not my coworkers. i primarily stay in City A with my 16 schools and my colleagues at the partner org and my supervisee (who is her own can of worms but put that on the circle back list too). so i don’t really see SN that often but she finds a way to poke me every week any way.
OPWSOT responded with a long message that included a lot of apologies but each one was structured the same: i’m sorry but. she also requested that we “put this behind us”
SN responded and said OPWSOT’s message captured her feelings perfectly.
i left them on read while i considered my response, which amounted to: we can’t put this behind us without any meaningful change in our collaborative process. alternatively, it might be the case that collaboration across our teams doesn’t make sense and i support you sharing that to the founder at our next team meeting.
this situation has not improved and has, in fact, gotten worse! but! my company is starting a new company (i can’t remember if i’ve explained this cluster fuck yet) and today they hired my replacement so that i can move over to the new company in january. i’ll be doing 3 days a week old company and 2 days new company for the fall.
i haven’t seen anything in writing and don’t want to jinx it but i believe i will finally (!) be promoted to director now at the new company. but waiting for the actual offer letter from the new company (same founders).
i gave blood tonight and, genuinely, i’m happy i did! but they sort of pressured me into a power red donation (double donation) and i asked about risks/side effects. i specifically asked about exercise after. the nurse pretty much brushed aside my concerns and said “we give everyone the same pamphlet after regardless of regular or power red donation”. she showed me a list of potential side effects from the saline/plasma/platelet return but said “these rarely happen and the effects are short term”.
i didn’t really think about the potential implications of the donation because she was so blasé about it. but now that i’ve googled it, people report impacted aerobic performance for TEN TO SIXTEEN WEEKS??????? i have a 10 miler on friday and i really want to run it with my friend! i am so irritated and i genuinely feel like it was a coerced donation without informed consent. i spent most of the donation googling the potential impact of a power red donation and feel like she really undersold it.
this all occurred AFTER we had to get special permission from the director on site because my heart rate was so low. they said if it’s under 50, typically they don’t let you donate unless you are sure it’s not abnormal. i showed them my heart rate data from my watch (rhr 41 today) and we discussed my workout routine in detail!!!! so it’s not like this didn’t come up. anyway. i want some of my blood back, tbh.
i have slept on it and feel that, perhaps, the world is not ending after all 🤷🏻♀️

Presenting data that quantified a fact already widely accepted as true, scientists at the University of Michigan released a study Wednesday proving that 97% of all sounds were infuriating. “A meta-analysis of research across the entire field of acoustics confirms that nearly every noise produced, whether artificial or natural, is completely enraging,” said the study’s principal investigator, Alan Dearden, who tapped his pen so goddamn incessantly as he spoke that reporters wanted to run from the room screaming.

after being irritated by every single post i’ve read this morning and every single person i’ve encountered today, i’ve been forced to reckon with the fact that my brain is the problem, not every single living being on the planet.
