They say the eyes are the windows to the soul. If that’s true then these eyes belong to the purest soul there is. This boy right here is my source of laughter these days. He’s still trying to figure out what’s going on with me being home all of the time, but somehow he’s figuring out when to leave me alone and when to be near. Just now he laid is head on my lap and I snapped this pic. Today’s been tough. I finally got to see some of my students via Zoom, got to see a colleague and friend, stepped WAY outside my comfort zone, and received some comfort from a friend. I’m blessed to have a lot of friends. I’m blessed to have my son and daughter in town. But it can get really lonely these days when you live alone. Sergeant does the best he can, but sometimes what a person needs is some human interaction. If you have people in your life who live alone, check in on them. Some of us really need it. When we reach out, usually through a funny text or social media post, it’s our way of trying to make a connection. Please don’t ignore that. It’s taken a while but 5 is 5. Met with a nutritionist yesterday and have a solid plan that will work with my lifestyle, the Hashimotos, and help me achieve my goal so I can relieve some of the arthritis pain and work towards getting surgery. Well folks this is what severe arthritis and bone spurs look like in a knee. It won’t hold me back. Just means I need to re-educate myself and accommodate this small bump in the road. • • Meeting with a nutritionist today. Have physical therapy this week. I’m hoping to be back to working out next week provided the corticosteroid shot holds up. • • Getting older sucks. Living with pain sucks. But what makes it all worth it is knowing that I’m #stronger than all of this. Results from my last three workouts beginning with today’s and working back to Saturday. Today I was able to stay in the yellow more which is good. • • Today’s workout was rough. I was tired and I think it showed. One more work out and I’ve met my minimum goal for the week which was 3, but now I’m aiming for 5! First pic is immediately after my work out at @9roundlincoln_83rd ! Shout out to Todd for hooking this fellow vet up with the camo wraps! It was hard but if was fun and totally worth it! All of the trainers are incredibly helpful, upbeat, and motivating! I love that there are no class times and you just show up and start! I’m excited to see what kind of results I’ll have in the coming months. I’ve got a long way to go, but I’ll get there! • • 2nd pic is after I got home, still flushed but smiling. I told myself that this would be a year of #strength , Be it physically, mentally or spiritually, I’m vowing to be stronger this year. Today it took a big step towards being physically and mentally strong. They say the first step is always the hardest. Walking into 9Round wasn’t hard. Starting wasn’t hard. Sticking with it was hard! Not quitting was hard. And when I didn’t think I had anymore in me to give in those 30 minutes, I dug deeper and gave some more. • • I’m a continual work in progress but I’m excited to be on this journey again. My adventure for November. One of the coolest parts of being a teacher is watching your students follow their dreams after they leave the four walls of school. Another great part of being a teacher is seeing talent being used. Kelsie is doing both!
