i had a headcanon
i thought a lot of the monster’s eyes in botw look really weird and unnatural, and they’re the colors you see in the -blight ganons in the game. other enemies like lizalfos and lynels don’t have ganon colors in their eyes, but their eyes still glow unnaturally
so i think that the monsters of hyrule aren’t naturally so aggressive. they’re smarter than animals but still pretty dumb, and prefer to keep to themselves and dont go out of their way to attack hylians. but just before calamity ganon appeared, his influence started to affect the monsters of hyrule, making them more aggressive and prone to violence and attacking hylians. ganon can’t influence people in the same way, because they have greater willpower and intelligence than monsters do.
its not that the monsters chose to follow ganon or anything, they’re just being controlled by him to an extent. then during the blood moon when his power is strongest, he can resurrect them because they serve him so well as minions
