I've been collecting vintage oval frames to create a gallery wall for my baby girl. The first photo I've framed up is this gorgeous print by Lily Seika Jones of Rivulet Paper. I love how her artwork plays with the dichotomy between soft and strong.
Father & Son Gypsy Journal: Halcyon Days With Haze
Now that my son is a toddler, I can finally make time to be crafty again. I am fascinated with book arts so was excited to try a gypsy journal class on Skillshare. I created a 40 page gypsy journal using pages from books and magazines as well as fancy decorative and handmade paper.
The backs of each page were decorated in a variety of ways including my first ever attempt at water colour painting, thumbprint hearts, and my son's crayon scribbles (I'd hoped for more of my toddler's work, but the art bug has yet to bite).
On the front cover, as well as the inner covers, are photocopies of my son's footprints. I bound the book with beeswax thread, and decorated the tails with "HAZE" and "SEAN" beads to make it extra special. The photos are of my husband and son together during our baby's first year.
The future of our current housing situation is uncertain. To ease my mind a little, I doodled out the things I love about our yard (as well as some future dreams we have for it, and wherever else we may land). 🧚♀️ I was inspired by the design sketches of @lisaorgler that I discovered in @uppercasemag’s #botanica book. The bright side to losing our current landscape is the ability to craft our own from scratch, which is an exciting prospect. Also, this simple art project is one step closer to making a habit of art in my life, so I’m feeling proud of that. #sketchbook #gardening #gardendesign #doodle #planning #sketchnotes #futuredreams #reallife #simplethings
The way she combines portrait and still life by creating landscape patterns in the hair is brilliant. Dreaming of commissioning her to do a sketch of me this way.
"Why not? I mean come on! Look at how amazing this is," shares Carter.
Two separate concepts in one, beauty and function combined. The small space dweller in me is both comforted and inspired by this idea. Would love to replicate it some day.

Enthralled by the concept of a pocket library. What a wonderful little concept, with a lovely theme and execution.
