The second leg of my trip to China was spent mostly in and around Shanghai. It’s a bustling, sprawling, beautiful city. We hit most of the tourist spots including The Bund, Tianzifang, Jiuqu Bridge, and Yu Garden. My favorite shot of the entire trip might be the last one I took, just as I pulled up to the airport.
Earlier this year I traveled to China for the first time. Here are some pictures from the first leg of our trip to Hong Kong, Dongguan, and Ningbo.

Now that summer is over, here are a few shots I took over the past few months around New England (with a shot of the Grand Canyon thrown in there).
Day 7: Woke up early to see the action at Tsukiji Market, the world’s largest fish market. Any fish, shellfish, or marine creature you could think of was there for sale. While waiting for the inner market to open to the public, we slipped into a Buddhist Temple, which was a nice change of pace from the bustle that is Tokyo.
Day 6: We returned from Hakone and ventured to our new Air Bnb in Shinjuku. Shinjuku was much more congested and hectic than our last neighborhood.
We met a couple friends and went to an owl café. It’s exactly what it sounds like–coffee and owls. I felt a little too touristy but it was still a very cool experience. You could pick up and pet many different size, shape, and species of owls!
At night we walked around rainy, lantern-lit Golden Gai. It’s an area with labyrinthine alleys lined with tiny 6-8 seat bars. Definitely felt like another world.
Day 5: Caught the train to Hakone region for a relaxing get away in a ryokan with an onsen. It was like a Japanese B&B basically.
Day 4: Unexpectedly found ourselves on the 39th floor around sunset so we took the chance to take in some views.
Day 3: We started off exploring Meiji Jingu and the surrounding park. Then we walked around Harajuku and all the shops.
Day 2: In the morning we walked around Minato and met a very friendly owner of Blue & White. Everyone we met in Japan was so friendly and helpful. She was excited we were visiting from America.
In the afternoon we went to Kiyosumi Garden and saw wisteria, cranes, koi, and lots of greenery.
Got back from a wonderful trip to Japan last week. The first day we were there was probably my favorite because everything was so new and we did so much! We started in Daikanyama for some doughnuts, farmer’s market, book store outing and then a perfectly pleasant French bakery/café in Meguro.
At night we had very tasty ramen which was a little confusing ordering from a machine.
Went to go check out The Lowline Lab which is going to be an underground garden in old subway lines. They used a complex series of mirrors to funnel sunlight underground to the plants.

Visited Colorado this past weekend and saw a lot of the nature Colorado is known for. Went on several hikes in Breckenridge, Vail, and Rocky Mountain Nat’l Park. The golden aspens are beautiful when they start to turn.
