I'm willing to be convinced about most ships but the only ship I accept about Nie Huaisang is unresolved sangyao. Your crush is first your servant, then a military person in your military sect's super special will-kill-you-eventually military and you can't do anything because his mother was a prostitute and 90% of people who don't think he's sick and dirty want to sleep with him. He knows this. You know he knows this. You're of higher status and rank. Both of you know this. Nothing happens between you. Then suddenly he disappears and when he's back his father (so far his biggest hater) suddenly wants him back and your brother has beef with him. You're like: well, this is much better though. And then he swears brotherhood with your brother and your brother's best friend, both of whom (to your dawning horror) most definitely have the hots for him. You are being little-brother-zoned. The world gets ruined a second time. He?? Marries a woman??? You're done for.

But still he comes with gifts for you, and mediates between you and your brother, and helps your brother, and sure you're not doing the stuff out of steamy books but it's worth being his little brother.

And then he kills your brother.

And even after your only parental figure, your only sibling, your last remaining family has perished at his hands, and you plot and plot to bring him to utter ruin, each time he holds you and helps you when you fall against his chest, your stupid, treacherous heart flutters.

Ok but like, am I just delusional or is Steve not trying to compete for Nancy's attention when he wants to climb the tower, but just doing the thing he always does: be the first the volunteer for the physical challenge because that is the thing he is good at, rather than all of the rest of them who are primarily very clever and intelligent?

Like everyone constantly rags on this man for being an 'idiot' is it any wonder he jumps at an opportunity to be useful? Like yes, I can see why Jonathan is jealous but I feel like that's more of a him being insecure thing than that Steve is actually angling for anything? He wasn't even looking at Nancy when he pointed out that thing in the book either he was just looking for answers I think?

I see so many people complaining his characterisation took a step back but I just don't think that's true, I think he's being genuine when he's arguing back to Jonathan in the car, also.

He always does this, he gets in the fights, he jumps in the lake... I dunno man I think he's genuinely just trying to help?

ALSO, ngl? Kinda worried about the focus we got on Will not wanting to put on his jacket. Is he being used as a spy again? Is it nothing? It felt like that scene kinda repeated the jacket thing so many times that we're actively supposed to notice it.
