Cons of Alternative medicines
As I mentioned before in one of the blogs, one of major drawbacks when it comes to this form of medicine is that there is a very limited amount of scientific research that has been done on it. While some of the claims have been proven, there are still a lot of existing questions that are yet to be answered, and hence, the vitality of the techniques cannot be proven yet.
Owing to its flexible nature, many people find it to be an easy method to fool people and con them.  There are no government approvals or restrictions present on them. Hence, it becomes really easy to make false and absurd claims, which lure people into buying the products, but in reality, they don’t work at all!
Moreover, they don’t seem to work in the emergency cases. Conventional medicines have been designed keeping in mind the quick response time. In case of emergencies, they come in handy and help us instantly. This is something which the alternative medicines truly lack.
My experience with alternative medicine
Having written so much about alternative medicines, it would be really unfair if I don’t write about my personal experience. Before I proceed, I must tell you that always opt for this approach only with the help of the professionals. There are a lot of experts around the world, who have excel in the field. It is only with the help of their knowledge and skills, that you can benefit the most from it.
So the place where I went was this - helhetsterapi.no, which is a center near my place and offers services such as physiotherapy, massages etc. This was obviously my first time and I was a bit nervous, not knowing what to expect. But I was greeted with such hospitality that within seconds, I knew I was in the right hands.
They treated me with professional courtesy and catered to the every part of my body. It focused on me, on a complete, overall basis. After my massage session, I found myself to be a lot relaxed. It is definitely an excellent stress buster and I recommend that you give it a try!
Cons of Alternative medicines
One of the main reasons as for why there has been a growing shift toward the non-conventional medicines because of its holistic nature. Alternative medicines focus on the whole body treatment, rather than the specific part. It concerns not only the symptoms of the disease, but the status of the entire body, along with the emotional and mental health.
Another reason for its popularity is the fact it is a lot cheaper, when compared to its counterpart. Many people cannot afford the expensive range of treatments offered by the hospitals, as a result of which they decide to switch to the alternative medicines. Of course not all the techniques in this field are cheap, but certain herbal medicines are easily affordable, which help in the cure.
One other thing which makes the alternative medicines more preferable is the fact that it gives a lot of importance to the principle of prevention being better than cure. Moreover, the side effects in this type are generally less, thus reducing the risks of allergies and other reactions.
Alternative Medicines – an introduction
To put it simply, alternative medicines are simply a form of medicine which deviates from the traditional practices. It doesn’t involve your regular medical stuff, but focuses more on the holistic approach and health care practices. There are a lot of branches in the field such as homeopathy, acupuncture, chiropractic, Ayurvedic medicines and even yoga too!
Owing to the recent trends, there has been a sudden rise in the increase of people who are opting for alternative medicines. These practices relate more with the nature and not considered to be a part of the conventional medicines. They focus on the diet as well, to ensure a complete well-being for the body.
For example, consider the Chinese practice of acupuncture. It has been around for more than hundreds of years and has proven to be quite effective when it comes to alleviating the pain. It involves inserting needles into the body at specific parts, depending upon the ailment.
However, despite having all these practices, there is one thing which they have in common – there is a lack of scientific data to compliment. Of course we will discuss these in the next couple of blogs.
