PSA: Please do NOT part 2

So I have seen more k-pop fans who are taking things WAY too far with their idols which inspired me to write a part 2 on my ‘please do NOT series (well, I guess it’s a series now). Here’s my POV on these ‘issues’. Keep in mind that these are MY opinions. So let me present to you, things I am pressed about. Please do NOT...

-Write anything that will make idols extremely uncomfortable; this includes stuff like saying that you’ll rape them. Yes, believe it or not, I have seen people saying that they would rape [insert idol’s name here] and it is absolutely disgusting that they’d say something like that. Rape is a serious issue in this world. It is a form of sexual abuse and it is not okay to casually say something like that even though they’ll most likely never have a chance to do that.  That’s not even showing your love to an idol. It is so disrespectful to say that. 

-Ship two idols to the POINT where it makes them very UNCOMFORTABLE. Before anyone takes this the wrong way, I’m not saying that all shipping is a no no. Shipping is okay, it’s perfectly fine. What is not okay is shipping two idols so hard where you say stuff that would make them uncomfortable. One example of a ship where SOME people have taken way too far is Meanie (Mingyu x Wonwoo). Shipping them is okay, fangirling over their moments is okay. However, there are some people who have said they would force Mingyu and Wonwoo to have sex. People even get angry if Wonwoo doesn’t look at Mingyu or if Kim Mango is playing around with other members. This also links to my last point. These things would make them extremely uncomfortable. In my opinion, this is disgusting. These kinds of words and actions can jeopardize their friendship. Another thing that would be related to shipping are fans at fan-signs. Some fans take it way too far. For example, a girl at a Got7 fansign had a t-shirt saying inappropriate stuff about their ship which is JB x Jinyoung. It would’ve brought a lot of discomfort to them. Like I said, shipping is a-okay but shipping them to the point of making their friendship uncomfortable is a no no.

-Get angry when your favorite idol starts dating; It’s pretty sad when people get angry over things like this. Don’t forget that idols are human too. They can date who ever they want and it’s not up to you to decide. Some people even get angry when their idol interacts with someone of the opposite sex! In my part 1 of this series, I talked about how you shouldn’t treat idols as if they were your possession. That links to this point. The idols aren’t yours, they can decide if they want to talk, date, etc. Be a supportive fan.

-Mock idols for their religion; If your idol is religious, please don’t say stuff about their religion that will make them uncomfortable. One example is Joshua Hong. Joshua is Christian and there are a lot textposts where people portray him as a religious freak. Yes Joshua is Christian, yes he prays to God but some people take it too far I guess. It could make him feel really self-conscious about it. As a Catholic (which is quite similar to Christianity), our religion and practices are really important to us and these jokes can make us self-conscious and/or offended. I understand that you’re trying to be funny and make people laugh but think about if it will make Joshua/them uncomfortable first.

So those are a bunch of things I’m pressed about. Some of you may agree and some of you may disagree, who knows? But please understand that these are my opinions on these topics. I just needed to vent and post it on tumblr ahahaha. I hope y’all have a nice day though.

PSA: Keep on supporting SVT!

There’s been a lot of drama surrounding Seventeen related to their fansites and Pledis Entertainment, and many people have tried to do things in protest against this.

Please, do not stop supporting Seventeen during this time. 

Although your acts may be out of good intentions, the things you do have a bigger and more negative impact on Seventeen than it does to the people who disrespect them. Don’t close your fansites, don’t stop streaming, and don’t stop voting. We’ve heard so many good and bad rumours about Pledis and fansites, and even though only some have been confirmed, we shouldn’t be so quick to judge, especially without having any proper confirmation.

Despite everything that’s going on, Seventeen delivered an impressive comeback. Why do people have to stop supporting them now, of all times? What did they do to deserve this? After so many carats leaving the fandom, what if the boys think that it’s THEIR fault? The best we can do as a fandom is to continue to support them as best as we can, and hopefully, we’ll pressure Pledis enough to give a proper explanation and apology. Seventeen does not deserve any of this, and this is the time they need their carats the most . Please give Seventeen the love and support that they worked so hard to earn!

Why would you have hateful feelings for them? Your bias is not an item, your bias is not yours. Please don't treat them as an object and call them yours. Instead of hating the person who also stans your bias, why not fangirl with them? Open your eyes - there are thousands, if not, millions of other people with the same bias as you. - Put down other groups for getting an award that your bias group didn't receive; it is a well deserved award and they don't need your hate because they worked so hard to receive that award and they want to feel proud of all their hard work instead of hearing hate from other people. - Sleep on other members; yes you have a bias and that's fine but what is not fine is you not caring about the other members too. Every single member of the group you stan is extremely hard working and deserve so much love. - Wish to be Korean or another race; this is extremely offending to your own culture and the Korean/other culture. Just be proud of who you are.
