Part 5:Water Fountain

Writer Note~ Sorry for the long waited for the last chapter. There is no smut in this chapter is just the end. It took me a long time lots of this have happened in my life and I didn’t know how to finish it with this story supposed to be a one-shot. I do hope you enjoy the last chapter.

I woke up to the sound of my phone buzzing. I groggily reached over and picked it up to see a text from Jihye.

"Bitch you better be getting ready for your date.”

I rolled my eyes as I read the message. After all, drinking last night and the talk she had with me, and setting 3000 reminders she had to text me.

I quickly replied, "Yes, I haven’t forgotten. I just woke up from my nap about to get ready.”

"You better wear that sexy dress," she replied.

I rolled my eyes and just told her I will send her a picture after I’m done getting ready. My heart started to flutter as I thought about getting ready for the date. I wanted to look my best, but at the same time, I didn't want to come across as desperate. 

After spending hours getting ready, I finally emerged from my apartment and was surprised to see him waiting for me at the bottom of the stairs. He looked just as handsome as I remembered, wearing a black suit with a black shirt under the jacket. His tattoo was covered but you can still see his tattoo on his hands where he gives you a single rose.

“This is the first to many,” he said.  I blushed and grabbed the rose and thanked him quietly. 

As we walked to the restaurant, we caught up on what had happened in our lives since we last saw each other. I was nervous and my heart raced, but I was also excited at the prospect of spending time with him again. What surprised me is he knew everything that happened. He has been in touch with my mom.  That just brought up so many questions from why to was it him that paid for everything. I decided to put it in the back of my mind once I saw the restaurant.

The restaurant was cozy and romantic, and we shared a bottle of wine and some delicious food. We talked about everything from our dreams and aspirations to our favorite movies and music. After dinner, he said he had a surprise for me. He paid for dinner and we walked while holding hands. My heart started beating so hard. I felt like a schoolgirl again going on her first date. 

“We are here.” He said When I looked up I was shocked.

He brought me to the Water Fountain where we first met. It was dark, and the fountain glowed with a soft, golden light.  Just as I remember so many years ago. This is where everything started for us. We sat down on the edge of the fountain, and he took my hand.

"I've missed you," he said, his eyes locking onto mine.

"I missed you too," I replied, tears welling up in my eyes.

"I'm sorry for everything that happened. I was confused and didn't know what I wanted, but now I know I want to be with you. Will you give me a second chance?"

I was overwhelmed with emotions as I looked into his eyes. I knew I still loved him, and I wanted to be with him more than anything, but I needed to know first.

“What made you feel like we can work out, I am not pretty. I am just this average girl that has been used.” I said looking down at our hands. He let go of my hands and knew he would leave me. Who wanted a girl like me all used up and ugly.

He sighed and brought his hand to my check. It felt so warm and soft. I couldn’t help but to lean on it and close my eyes.

“Look at me” I open my eyes to see his beautiful boyish face that forever hunts my dream. “I fucked up and what that guy did to you was fuck up and he will pay for it.  That is something I can promise and please don’t ask me how.” I move my head to look straight at his eyes. 

“But never say you are an average used girl. You are amazing after everything you have been through you recovered moved up in your company and living alone. Look at you, you are strong and beautiful and it took me this long to realize is you I love.” He said grabbing my hand again.

You were shocked this was everything you always wanted to hear and more. This is when you remember what your mom told you. If you want something then go get it don’t let no one or anything stop you.

"Yes, I will, give you a second chance " I replied, a smile spreading across my face.

We kissed under the soft glow of the fountain, and I knew that everything was going to be alright.

You never left so happy in your life until this moment under the water foundation. Once before you were here so young and naive. But here you are again young but wise and happy. 

He will teach you how to love yourself again.

We decided to get married at the Water Fountain, the place where we first met and where we reunited.

As I walked down the aisle, I saw him waiting for me, his eyes filled with love and admiration. I couldn't believe that we were finally getting married and would spend the rest of our lives together.

We exchanged vows and rings and kissed as husband and wife. I looked around at our friends and family, all of whom were beaming with joy and happiness.

As we walked hand-in-hand away from the fountain, I knew that our love was stronger than anything that could ever come our way. We had been through so much, but we had come out the other side stronger and more in love than ever before.

The sun was beaming from the café window, giving Jungkook a glow that made him look like an angel. It reminded you of the first time you were brave enough to go up to him at Han River. You will never regret that day because it was the first time in your life you were brave enough to do something you wanted. Looking up at him and his big doe eyes, you didn’t know what to say. You missed him so much there was never a day you didn’t think about him. 

“Y/N is that you?” he said, giving you a curious look. You looked away from him for a second and nodded your head.

“It’s been so long!” you heard him said. You looked up to Jungkook, still smiling at you; you swear your headache went away with just looking at his smile. You missed his smile and that little mole under his lower lip.

“It has, hasn’t it. How have you been?” you asked, giving him an honest smile.

“I’ve been good. Life’s been good. Can’t really complain too much.” he shook his head a little like he was shaking a thought out. “Is it okay to sit?” 

You smiled again, “Of course you can." You said, waving toward the empty seat. He sat down across from you and put his drink down on the table. You couldn’t help but laugh; he seriously never changed. You missed this feeling. Happy and blissful.  You can’t remember the last time you laughed like this.

 “What’s so funny?” he asked, scrunching his nose and giving you a dorky smile.

“You.”

“Me?” he gave you a questionable look. 

“You haven’t changed,” you told him, taking a sip of your iced americano. Funny, the drink was perfect a few minutes ago, and now it was bitter.

“How so? I think I’ve changed a lot since we last saw each other.” He said, sitting back in the chair and crossing his arms.

“Is that so?” You asked, taking a sip of your drink. “You still seem like the dorky man that will only drink banana milk at a café.” You stated, pointing at his glass.

“And what’s wrong with banana milk?” he asked with a pout. You couldn’t help but laugh. He was still the playful, cute Jungkook you remembered from your past, and that made you happy.

“Of course, there nothing wrong with a grown-ass 20 something man having banana milk in a café.” you giggled, putting your hands up.

“No, there isn’t,” he stated, taking a sip of his milk.

 You didn’t know how long you two stayed there talking, but when you looked outside, it was getting dark. Checking your phone, you saw the time,

“I really should go. It’s getting late,” you told Jungkook. Looking at his phone, he said, “Wow, it really is, I guess time flew when you’re catching up.” You nodded and started to get your things together. 

“I should walk you home, it’s getting late.” Jungkook offered.

“No, it’s okay. I’m not that far, I swear.” he nodded, “Okay, but lets at least exchange numbers. It was nice catching up with you.”

“I would love that,” you said, giving him your phone. He took it and handed you his. You saved your number and was so tempted to look at his wallpaper, but decided it was better not to. You were too scared to see what he has as his wallpaper.  You handed his phone back, and he gave yours back.

“Don’t be a stranger,” Jungkook said while you started to walk towards the door. You turned around, waved at him with a smile, and he waved back at you.

You left the café and walked towards your apartment with a big smile on your face.

  When you there, Jihye already had dinner on the table.

“Honey, I’m home,” you shouted at her.

“Hello to you? I haven’t seen this person in a long time” you laughed at her reply and told her you were going to take a shower.

In your room, you took off your sunglasses and looked at yourself in the mirror. You usually hated looking at yourself, but this time it felt like a different person was looking back. It was still your face and those cloudy eyes, but you looked happy. And honestly, you were.

You went to your bathroom in your room and took your shower. You came out and put on your favorite PJs, and your eye drops before heading out to eat dinner. 

When you came out, dinner was on the table with a glass of wine. Jihye was sipping her wine while she waited for you to join her. You sat down, poured yourself some wine, and both of you finished your meals in silence. You guys rarely talked during dinner, and honestly, you liked it. It let you be in peace for a moment in your stressful days. 

“Okay, I can’t take it,” Jihye exclaimed as you got up and grabbed her plate. You had both agreed that when one person cooked, the other cleaned. And most of the time, Jihye cooked, and you were very grateful for because spoking the truth, you were horrible at it.

“I don’t know what you mean." You said, putting the plates in the sink and turning on the water. Jihye stood next to you while you were doing the dishes.

“You! So happy out of nowhere! I’m not complaining, but the last time I saw you this happy was when you were with…” Jihye stopped talking and put her glass down and grabbed you by the shoulder to turn you around. 

“O.M.G.! You saw him didn’t you?”  you grabbed her hands to let go of your shoulders and turned to finish the last dishes while giggling and nodding.

“You bitch! And you were not going to tell me anything?”

Jihye grabbed her glass and poured the both of you more wine while you finished putting the dishes in the drying rack. You dried your hands, and Jihye handed you your drink before joining her on the couch. 

“Okay, now tell me every fucking detail.” You rolled your eyes at her.

“Don’t roll your eyes at me, woman! Tell me.”

“Okay! You’re so impatient.” you laughed before taking a sip of your wine. “I was at that new café by my job. I had a headache that was killing me.”

“Is the new medication not working?” Jihye interrupted, looking worriedly at you. “No. They said I would get some headaches with switching medication.” She nodded and let you continue. You told her how handsome and beautiful he was, and how much more built he looked now and how you guys talked for so long and even exchanged numbers. After finishing, you took another sip of your wine and sat back, waiting for her reply.

“So.,” she stated, looking at you.

“So… that’s it” 

“You haven’t texted him?”

“No, I’m too scared.” Jihye got up and went to your room and came back to throw your phone at you.

“Text him now. You were clearly flirting with each other.” 

“Jihye, he’s engaged. Probably, maybe married,” Jihye sat back down next to you and rolled her eyes at you. 

“Did you see a ring? Like on his ring finger?” Jihye gave you a look, waiting for an answer.  You started to think you usually can’t see a few feet in front of you. But one thing is for sure you were able to see his hands holding his drink while the cup was sweating. His vein was perfectly visible, and his long fingers with no ring in sight.

“No, I didn’t.”

“And did you ask if he was engaged or did he tell you he was.” 

“Neither.”

“Okay, you better fucking text him, or I will. And you know I will.” You would honestly rather text him than Jihye. Last time you were in this situation, she ended up texting him nudes.

You got your phone and decided to text him something simple, asking if he got home safe. You turned your phone to show Jihye, and she rolled her eyes for like the thousandth time that night at you.

“Weak.”

“I don’t know what to text him. And it not like..” before you were able to finish your sentence, your phone buzzed, and you both looked at your screen.

JK: I did, and you? 

“Reply! Reply tell him you were happy to see him.” both of you were acting like high school girls texting your crush for the first time.

Y/N: Same 😊 I was happy seeing you today 

Seconds after you sent your text, your phone started buzzing again.

JK: Same. Are you free this weekend? I would love to catch up some more.

You thought you were seeing things. Jungkook just asked you if you were free. Before you had time to reply, Jihye took your phone and texted him back.

“Jihye, what did you do?”

“A favor. You were texting him like a 15-year-old girl.” Looking at what Jihye said, you looked at her back with a glare. Before you could tell her off, your phone buzzed one more time, and both of you look at your phone.

Y/N: For you, I’m free anytime 😉

JK: LMAO, then is a date? See you Saturday 😉

You couldn’t believe your eyes. You swore you were seeing things.

“OMG! Yes Bitch, you’re going on a date with Jungkook!” Jihye slapped you on the back and took a sip of her drink. You didn’t know how you were going to sleep that night or get through the few days before Saturday. All you knew was you were over the moon. The rest of that night was spent with Jihye, drinking, and planning your outfit for Saturday.

When you come through, everything was white around you. Your throat felt dry, and your body and head hurt. You were expecting it to hurt from how hard Angel was hurting you. What you didn’t expect was hearing your mother's voice. You didn’t know where you were every time you try to open your eyes; your head started hurting from the brightness in the room.

 “ She awake, she awake” you kept hearing your mom yelling, “ Doctor, please come; she awake” You figured you were at the hospital from your mom yelling for the doctor.

 “ Mom,” you tried to talk, but your throat was hurting. You felt your mom grab your arm “baby, are you okay, are you in pain.”

 “Water,” you told her; you needed something to drink your throat was to dry that it was hurting to talk.

 “ Is okay you can give her some” you were assuming it was the doctor speaking. You tried to open your eyes and was able to see after the nurse closed the curtains. You drink some of the water that your mom gave you. You looked up to see your parents and the doctor next to you. Everything was still blurred, and you weren’t able to see clearly from your right eye.

 “ How are you feel?” the doctor asked; you tried to rub your eye to clear up your vision.

 “Okay, in some pain, but everything is so blurred,” you saw your parents face you dad looked sad, and your mom started crying.

 “ From the injury you obtain, you lost some of your vision in your right eye.” You didn’t know how you react or what to say.

 “ Am I going to be blind, you asked,” your mother started crying more.

“Time can only tell,” Your doctor said after he did more examination and left the room. You had to stay in the hospital couple more days before you could be discharged.

 “ Is going to be okay, honey,” your father said, smiling at you. “We will be there for you and help you any way we can” you look up at your parents and smiled the best you could.

 You tried to get up to go to the bathroom, but it was hard for you to stand. Your mother grabbed you before you fell.

 “ Where are you trying to go” you looked down on the floor, embarrassed, “ I need to go to the bathroom” your mother smiled at you. “I will take you to the bathroom is going to be hard for you to walk,” and you agreed. Your mom helped you to the bathroom. When you are finished using the bathroom, you looked yourself in the mirror. You could barely see yourself with your vision so blur, but what you can see, you had a couple of blacks and blues, but mostly everything was already healing. You also notice your hair was longer than before. You felt so tried all you wanted to do was rest. When you open the door, your mom was outside, waiting for you to help you go back to bed.

 “ How long have I been here?” you asked your mom while she helps you back in bed.

 “ Is been almost a month, honey” your mom said look sad “ we had to put you in a medical induced coma because of the swelling in your brain” You saw how worried your mom was getting, so you hugged her.

“ I'm sorry, mom,” you told her, and she pulled away from you and looked at you.

 “ Don’t ever say sorry this wasn’t your fault.”

 " But," your mom stopped you before you can finish your sentence. " No, buts this is not your fault; he was a horrible person, not even a human for what he did” she pulled you into a hug, “ never apologize,” she told you.

“ I won’t,” you told her, and she pulled away again and went to sit next to your dad. You look down in your blanket; you know this was wrong to ask, but you needed to know.

 “Please don’t get mad,” you told your parents and took a deep breath, “ but I need to know where is he?’

 Your dad looked up from the book he was reading and looked you in the face you guessed; his face was too far to tell where he was looking or his emotion.

 “ In jail, honey,” your dad said, and you just replied good and laid down and went to sleep.

             You were at the hospital for a couple of more days; relearning to get your strength back in your body was not easy, and learning how to deal with not being able to see from one eye didn’t help. You were getting tired of being in the hospital; you wanted to be in your own bed, in your own place, but you won't be able to get that too. You just learned you lost your apartment, and your parents wanted you back home. After a couple of days more, they send you home. You had to move in with your parents because they worried about and wanted to keep a close eye on you.

             Your parents lived in a town outside the city you use to live about an hour train ride. It was peaceful there you didn’t have to worry much about anything. But you missed the city and your friends. Then you remember Jihye texted you that night of the accident. You wonder if she okay and what she been up to, so you decided to text her that day. She ended up visiting you a few weeks later, and she looked like her old self. So bright and cheerful, when she saw you she hugged you and started to cry.

 “ Hey, stop crying. I am alive," you started to laugh.

 “ I should go to your apartment. I should have made you leave Angel,” you sighed. You knew Jihye was going to blame herself for this. You pushed her away and made her sit down in your parent's living room.

 “There was nothing you can do I wouldn’t have stop saying him” you started rubbing your temple. “ I was alone, and I used him for that, and at that time, I thought that all I deserved and I was wrong, and I should have realized that myself. But thank you, Jihye, for caring about me,” you told her, giving her a big hug. She hugged you back, and she said to you, “of course, you’re my best friend.”

 “ Now, when are you coming back to the city?”

 “ Honestly, I don't know if able to go back," you looked down at the floor "I don't think I can get a good job if I do." You told her, and that was the truth you can barely see, so it will be hard to get any ordinary job. But you wanted to go back; you need to go back to move on, but you also didn’t want to go back to your old apartment just yet.

 “ I can help you get a job. I think I know the perfect place and you can move in with me. I know you're not ready to go back to your apartment yet, so move in with me for now.” Of course, she knew what you were thinking; both of you have been friends for so long it wasn’t a surprise.

  “ So how you been how life, do you have a boyfriend and..”

 “ And?” she gave you a questioning look “ Oh, you want to know about Jungkook?”

 “ I know it is bad. I know I shouldn’t think about Jungkook” Jihye just smiled at you and grabbed your hand.

 “ Is okay, Y/N, you still love him is okay; just live your life okay” you nodded and smiled at her with teary eyes.  Both of you talked all night and caught with everything in both your life.

 It has officially been three years since everything that happened since Jungkook breaking up with you and everything with Angel. Your life has been okay since then you moved back to the city. You were able to find a good job thanks to Jihye that understands your situation. You are back at your apartment after living with Jihye for a couple of months. When you moved in, everything was brand you, and your place was clean like nothing happened, and you were happy about that. You thanked your parents and Jihye for it, but they all said it wasn’t them. They wouldn’t tell you who it was that it wasn’t necessary; you didn’t want to keep asking, so you dropped it.

               One day after work, you were having a  terrible headache and find this cute little café near your home and job. You had honestly never seen it before, and it looked like they just opened up. You decided to go and sit down before your headache got any worst.

 You went for an iced americano and sat down by the window. You just found out Angel may be released from jail soon, and honestly, you were scared. You were finally in the right place in your life; you feared he would try to find you and bring you back to hell.

 As you sit here, you looked out the window and started counting the people wearing sunglasses from what you can see with your eyes. You began to wonder if they also then through what you have been or even worst. Your vision has been slowly getting worst, but you were lucky still were able to see from your left eyes. The only difference is you were more sensitive to light more than before, causing you to have this horrible headache.

 You were so lost in your thoughts you didn’t hear your name being called, till you look up. You couldn’t believe who was standing in front of you; your eyes had to be playing a trick on you. You didn’t know if you should run away or face them, but you couldn't move. All you could do was look at their big doe eyes how you miss looking at those eyes.

The Boy From the Coffee Shop

Here you was sitting at a coffee shop you have never been to but you needed to get out of your apartment, no matter what. You just found out that your boyfriend just cheated on you with your best friend and you didn’t know what to do. All you knew is that you didn’t want to be at your apartment, you needed air, you needed something.

You kept remembering what he told you when you caught him. His excuse was you never had time for him and you didn’t know how to pleasure him like Nicole did. You worked so hard to try and get tickets for a vacation you wanted to book for you and him for his birthday. The only good thing that came out of this is that you haven’t booked anything.

“Excuse me but why are you crying?”

You looked up and there was a boy, no a man, sitting in front of you. He was the handsomest man you have ever seen with his curly hair and devilish look. You touch your face to realize that you were crying.

“Oh, I didn’t realize I was” he gave you a napkin and you wiped your tears with them.

“Thank you” you told him.

“Now will you tell me why a beautiful person as yourself is crying alone in a café?”

You don’t know why you wanted to tell him what is wrong with you. Maybe because you had no one to talk to or because you needed to let it out.

“My boyfriend cheated on me and I needed to get out” “Get out? Did he hurt you?” you saw the concern in his eyes.

“No No” you waved your hands in front of his face.

“I found out that he cheated on me with my best friend and I needed air. If I stayed at home I felt like I couldn’t breathe”

“Well he is a stupid one for leaving a beautiful lady like you. I know this is stupid but would you want to go out to eat. I saw all you had was coffee and that’s not good for your stomach.”

You know what he was saying is true, having too much coffee always upsets your stomach. You normally wouldn’t go out with a person you just met but something about him, you don’t know, makes you trust him.

“Can I know your name before I say yeah?” he laughed a soulful deep laugh you never heard before.

“ You are right, my name is Taehyung but my friends call me Tae and you?

“ Y/n”

“ Well Y/N do you want to go to dinner with me?” He said smiling with a boxy smile and you couldn’t help but laugh. You don’t know what it is,  you just met him,  but he made you feel at ease and made you feel so relaxed like you can trust him.

“Yes” you told him.

“Then let's go” he said holding out his hand and you took it. You both left the café and took a taxi to the restaurant.

The restaurant was fancier than what you expected, you looked down at your clothes and grabbed Taehyung's arm.

“I don’t think I’m dressed right for this place” you told him and he looked at you up and down.

“My friend owns this place, don't worry about it.” He said, giving you his boxy smile again. You went to the restaurant and the waitress took you to a private booth in the back. You were surprised with how grand the restaurant was. You both sit in the booth with him next to you. He orders your favorite wine and some delicious food. You both were talking and drinking the whole not that you started feeling yourself get tipsy.

You kept on looking at his beautiful face and noticed he had a cute mole in the tip of his nose.

“You're so beautiful” You told him you felt brave with the 3rd glasses of wine you already had.

“You are the beautiful one here” he said, you didn’t notice how close you were but you wanted to kiss him so deadly.  You were so tipsy so you didn’t care, you went put your arms around his neck and kissed him. You were expecting for him to push you away but was surprised when he kissed you back. You felt his tongue on the bottom of your lips and you opened your mouth slightly and felt his tongue in your mouth. You both were kissing each other like your life depended on it. You pull the hair on the back of his neck to try to get him closer. You need to feel him closer, you need him to touch you. You don’t know when it happened but you are now straddling him. Your hands were running through his soft curly hair that felt so good to feel. He started kissing you down your neck and found your spot below your ear at the same time you were rubbing him and couldn’t help but moan when you felt how hard he was getting.

He pulled away for a second and both of you were breathing heavily.

“I think we should take this somewhere private?” you know it was wrong to go somewhere with a person you just met. But you don’t know if it was the wine but you wanted him and needed him. You never felt like this before.

“Yes” you told him getting up from him.

“ Then let's go” he said, grabbing your arm and going outside to grab a taxi.

You both got to his apartment in UN village , known as one of the places only the rich and famous live. You follow him to his building and to the elevator to one of the top floors of the building. When you enter the apartment it is luxurious with meaning painting around. It almost looked like an art gallery,

“Do you want more wine?” you honestly wanted some more you were starting to get nervous. But not that you wanted to be there no more like you were nervous from excitement you didn’t know what to do.

“Great! Like I said, you can go home and relax until the night shift.” You gave a small nod and left to gather your things and punch out. Your ride home was spent with thoughts of said doctor and how long it had been since your last encounter.

As if the scene couldn’t get worse, Dr. Min Yoongi walks out of the ER door and spots his wife standing in front of the desk with the nurse where you sat. An unrecognizable expression flashes across his face but was gone before you could analyze it.

“Jessica, what are you doing here?” Dr. Min exclaims to her in surprise as he walks towards the two and leans down to give her a kiss. This all took place right in front of you, and it took you a few minutes of empty gawking at your computer screen before your thoughts came into order. How stupid could you have been? He was married. You felt so dumb. Of course he was married! He was a kind, wealthy, hot, successful doctor! The fact that he never disclosed any such information to you pissed you off beyond belief. With a mixture between anger and disappointment, you clench your jaw and continue your work, ignoring their presence.

Time passes as you go back to your desk and begin registering new patients. You didn’t notice when the wife had left or where Dr. Min had slipped away too. You consumed yourself in your work, flying through registration like a maniac, blocking out the rest of the world. As your desk phone rings you automatically pick it up to respond.

“Hello, this is Grace Hospital. How may I help you?”

“Y/N, it’s nurse Eunah. The patient you weren’t able to get to before finally got his information so you can register him now.”

“Ah, thank you, Eunah, I’ll get right to it” you told the nurse and ended the call. You go to find the patient once more to begin registration.

An hour or so passes and after answering the nonstop questions from that one patient, you were finally able to register him. You were walking down the hall back to your computer when your paper slipped from your hand. You were bending down to grab them when someone beat you to it. As the hands shuffle the papers together, your body goes rigid as you vividly remember those hands. As the person stands up and you straighten, you slowly look up to see Dr. Min staring down at you with the papers outstretched towards you. You accept the papers and bow slightly to thank him. Without missing a beat, you begin to walk away hoping to escape the awkward atmosphere. Before you could, you felt his hand on your arm to stop you. You immediately halt and turn to look at him. Clearing your throat and plastering on a fake smile, you address him.

“Yes. Dr. Min. How may I help you?” His eyes narrow at your guarded disposition. He grabs the papers back from your hands disregarding your reaction.

“Eunah, please finish registering the patient for Miss. Y/N. I need her help with a problem in one of the registrations of another patient” he says, handing the papers over to the nurse.

“Of course," Eunah replies, turning back to her computer. Dr. Min spins back to face you with a stern demeanor.

“Come," he demands, leaving no room for negotiation.

You follow him out of the ER to the doctor’s personal offices. You had to be a head of a department to normally have your own office, and since Dr. Min was the head of ER, he had his own. You follow him into the space which was larger than you would have imagined. His office had his desk with his computer on one end. On the other end, he had a couch with a coffee table in the middle. There was also a flatscreen on the wall that faces his desk and a love chair placed at the end of the coffee table. You seat yourself down on the couch as he sits on the love seat to your left. You turn to him politely and address him the most professional way possible.

“Dr. Min. is there something wrong?” You ask innocently even though you would rather be anywhere else. Still, despite it being wrong, his presence demands its effect on your body. You stiffen as he sighs and runs a hand through his hair.

“I told you to call me Yoongi,” he replies in an authoritative tone. His glare causes you to break eye contact as your eyes fly down onto his hands in his lap. Big mistake. The same hands that once brought you endless pleasure now twisted your stomach in knots as the wedding ring on his left hand glared at you. “I know you’re lying. Every time you lie, you always look down after.” You froze as heat flooded your face. You remained silent because he was right, and there was no point in making a fool out of yourself even more. Each second that passed felt like an eternity, and his intense glare made you feel powerless. His aggressive stance toward you only reminded you of your heated encounter in the backroom. “Don’t lie to me,” he sighs. “Let me ask you this. You first saw him taking pictures, looking ethereal as the sun shone around him. You couldn’t bring yourself to look away, and the book in your lap was soon forgotten. You somehow knew that if you didn’t approach him now, then you would never have another chance. No way someone crosses paths with an angel twice.

Without giving yourself a way you out, you muster up the courage and begin to stroll over to where his lens was transfixed on a particular flower. He was kneeling close to the ground, snapping close shots when you timidly tapped him on the shoulder. Oh no. What if you interrupted him somehow? What if this was his ‘artistic’ time or something, and you just ruined his concentration. Your thoughts go into overdrive as you stand petrified, watching him turn around as if it were in slow motion. However, as soon as he peered his big brown doe eyes up at you, all your fears vanished. If you thought he was beautiful from the park bench you sat on, then he was truly from the heavens when you saw him this close. His questioning expression brings you out of your silent adoration as you realize that he’s probably wondering why a strange woman just walked up and poked him.

At your remark, his expression softens as he rises to his feet. Damn, how tall was this giant? He loomed over you by nearly a foot, casting a shadow over you with his back towards the sun. You’re well aware of your looks, but overall you know nothing could ever compare to the man in front of you. Hell, you weren’t even sure there was a person in his league. Besides this, he doesn’t even know you. Heavens above, what were you thinking?!?

“I’m sorry, uh, could you repeat that last part? I couldn’t quite catch it” he responds chuckling. His laugh was another form of endearment, but also FUCK you had to ask again. Your eyes fall to peer at the delicate, white flower on the ground while you scraped together any remaining confidence. You let out a puff of air and stare him dead in the eye.

“I would really like it if you went on a date with me, and I know that sounds crazy and you could be a psychopath, well not that you are one, I mean I could be the psychopath—oh! But I-I’m not I swear, I was just—"

“Woah, okay, I believe you,” he laughs. “This is a first for us both then, but why not? When are you free?”

“Hmm, wow I didn’t think I’d get this far, but I’m free next Saturday? Does that work?”

“I actually finish up a photoshoot that morning, so it’s perfect. Should we meet somewhere, or do you want me to pick you up?” His hand resumes its habit of rubbing his neck.

“Let’s just meet somewhere for now,” you giggle at his nervousness. “Do you know where the water fountain at the front of the park is?”

“Great! So, 5pm Saturday, waterfront?”

Guess I should have led with that.” He says this as he stretches out his hand, and it takes every bit of restraint to not accidentally throw your phone at him. With great skill, you calmly pull out the device and gently place it in his hand.

“Right! No! I should have introduced myself first. I’m y/n.” Once he finishes typing in his number, he throws you a big grin.

“Right, so just, text me when you get home. Or whenever. If you want. Oh, I would walk you home too, but I need to take a few more shots and—"

“It’s okay,” you calm him down with the softest of smiles. I guess you weren’t the only one who was a little clumsy in the flirting scene. “I’ll text you later, alright?” His face brightens at this, and he winks at you before he’s walking away to another small patch of flowers to digitally capture. You only stare for a few seconds longer before you begin your short journey back to your apartment.

As you walked down the sidewalk, breathing in the crisp autumn air, you felt a strong sense of pride. You had never done anything that bold, and the fact that you were courageous enough to do it and that it worked out perfectly really boosted your confidence. You had nearly a week until your first date with Jungkook, but ideas of your outfit were already swirling through your mind. You continued walking (nearly skipping) down the sidewalk, with a newfound sense of something you couldn’t quite put your finger on. You weren’t sure why, but you had a good feeling about this one.  

Once you arrived back to your place, you immediately peel off your clothes and step into a hot shower to relax, thoughts of your recent encounter replaying in the forefront of your mind. Afterward, you snuggle up in your pj’s and a face mask and head to the kitchen to make yourself some dinner. Hmm, instant noodles? Yes, please.

Settling into your bed with your steaming bowl of noodles, you turn on the tv and begin to flip through the channels for something interesting. However, nothing catches your eye as your mind is far away from whatever was on the TV. You replayed the first time you met Jungkook. Which was in his mind officially this past afternoon, but the first time you ever encountered him was a while ago. The first time you ran into him was actually at a block party.

You were at your apartment putting the last few touches on your makeup and triple-checking your outfit in the mirror. Your then-boyfriend, Jackson, had just sent you a text that he was on his way to pick you up. You honestly didn’t care for the party scene, but Jackson believed that life wasn’t worth living without partying. While you would have been happy to let him go alone, the last time he came back from a part he was covered with hickies that “were just from a dare.” All your friends kept nagging you to break up with him, but you loved him--well, what you thought love was anyways--and you also knew that no one else would be interested in you.

You grew up thinking you were fairly good looking, but when you started dating Jackson he would occasionally throw in some “pointers” (as he called them) in order to “bring out your natural beauty.” It began with “You look great when you wear that, babe” to “You should wear more things like this; it’d look great on you” and eventually to “I thought you wanted to look good when you go out” and “Well, I know the other girls are going to look like this…” It grew into a comfortable routine for your boyfriend to tell you that you were lucky to have him. He used to say it in a joking tone, but not so much anymore. He’s recently added the “If I hadn’t taken you out, I don’t know if anyone else would? Right hun?”. It was gradual. He slowly tore you down bit by bit, and you put up with it because he was so sweet and loving at the beginning. Surely, he still loves you and just wants the best for you. That’s what you’ve made yourself believe. He eventually took to sleeping around every so often. Each time he claimed that it was because you were bad in bed, but that you two could work on it together. You had given your virginity to him a few times after he came back with hickies. You hoped this would make it so he would only want you. After he slept with someone else, you were knee-deep in your own lies to see his own. Yeah, maybe you were bad in bed. But it’s sweet of him to suggest that you could work on it together right? That meant that he wanted to sleep with you again, so you’re headed in the right direction. You knew these were lies, but you were too scared to not believe them.

As these thoughts flee from your mind, and you check your mirror for the umpteenth time. You were wearing a figure-hugging, black mini with a red pair of stilettos. Your friends texted and tried to hype you up with comments like “YES HOT MAMA” and “YOU LOOK LIKE SINNNNN,” but all you could see in the mirror were two boxes: pass or fail. You finally hear a knock on the door 20 minutes past the time Jackson said he would be there. Your stomach immediately twists in knots. You had spent the whole day getting ready, hoping to catch a glint in your boyfriend’s eye when he sees you. You grab your purse, and half walk-half trot to pull open the door. Without even a side glance towards you, he struts into your apartment like he owns the place.

“You ready?” he finally acknowledges you as he searches the kitchen to pour himself a drink.

“Uh, yeah-yeah, I just need to get my jacket” you reply as you slip on the red leather jacket from the back of the couch. Eventually, his eyes land on the already opened bottle of vodka on the counter.

“Ah, I see you started without me?” he asks with a smirk. You slightly grimace at your sudden exposure. The only reason you were drinking early was to get the courage to go out to this party. He shrugs at your lack of response and pours himself a cup. After twisting the cap on, he strolls back to the door and swings it open, waiting for you to walk through first. You scrunch your nose slightly confused at the gesture until it suddenly makes sense as you walk through, and he slaps your ass harshly. You squeal and jump away at the move.

“Sorry, hun. But couldn’t you have waited on me to start drinking?”

“Oh-uh, right. I’m sorry, I know I normally wait to drink when I’m with you.”

“Ah, it’s okay,” he responds as you both step into the elevator. “Oh! I see you put some effort in with the makeup tonight yeah?” He takes a long sip of his drink as you turn away to blush. He rarely recognized your effort... “Yeah, you look better than normal. We’ll keep getting better until you’re finally able to keep up with all the other party girls, right?” He nudges your side with his elbow and offers you a smooth grin like you weren’t recovering from the backhanded compliment. When the elevator doors open to the lobby, you trail behind him, letting his comments sink in. He was right after all; you could never match up to those girls at all the parties.

When you finally arrived at the house, the party was well underway. The yard was already trashed with beer cans, and you could see the mass of bodies swaying against each other through the doorway. You and your boyfriend enter and immediately head for his group of friends on the opposite side of the house. You quickly excuse yourself to go make a drink. Jackson offers a small wave and continues recalling a story from another party while his friends chuckle along like dumbasses. His stories were never that good in your opinion, but hey, he put up with all the stuff you did that he didn’t like. You go to make yourself a drink in the kitchen but end up standing there scrolling through your phone. By the time you finish off your last sip, it’s been nearly an hour. You weren’t really concerned at your unexcused absence because Jackson never really noticed. He and his buddies were most likely all trashed by now anyways. When you make your way back to their spot, his friends were all there with some new girls, but your boyfriend was nowhere to be found. Gaining the attention of one of his friends, you try to ask him.

“Hey! Hey! Sorry I’m shouting it’s just so loud in here! But did you see where Jackson went!?!?” His brows furrow for a moment as his drunk brain processes what you said.

“OH! Jackson?!? O H, yeah sorry toots, but Jackson just went upstairs with another gal. You snooze you lose I guess” he responds and turns back to the girl clawing for his attention.

What??? He did what?? Even when I am here, he STILL goes and finds another girl!! You know what, fine. I’m done. I rather be alone at home than dragged to parties I hate AND be alone. This is the last time; I’m done with him. You grab the shoulder of that same guy and tug him around.

           “HEY! Whenever Jackson gets back, tell him not to bother looking for me. I’m done with him.” The guy nods without much care, and you begin pulling yourself through the crowds to get to the kitchen. After downing one cup and pouring another, you start your journey to the front door. When you had first arrived, you saw a pretty lawn fountain in the front, and you figure you could hang there unnoticed while waiting for your uber.

You were fairly tipsy when you finally navigated yourself out of the house and stumbled to the fountain. There were some beautiful decoration rocks at the bottom of the fountain, and in your inebriated state, you decided that you were going to reach in and grab one as a keepsake of the worst night of your life. You wiped your mascara-smeared, tear-stained face and lean forward to grab one of the rocks. But in your drunken state, you overestimated your remaining coordination causing you to flail as gravity tries to pull you face-first into the water. You squeeze your eyes shut as you mentally prepare for the harsh cold when you instead feel a firm grip around your waist. As you’re pulled up and away from the fountain you turn to see your saving grace.

You were at a complete loss for words when your saving grace just also happens to be the most beautiful creation you had ever laid eyes on. You soon begin to heat up and you’re sure you’re now completely red BECAUSE your drunk ass just nearly faceplanted in front of the aforementioned beautiful creation. You stumble for words as he still holds you tightly to himself.

“I-uh, b-, than—, uh, sorry, I jus—” his nose scrunches cutely at your blabbering as he helps you straighten and stand on your own, but not yet fully releasing your waist.

“Did you drop something?” he finally interrupts you.

“Huh?” you ask dumbly.

“In the fountain? Did you drop something in the fountain and try to get it out?” he restates.

“O-Oh! Haha, well, no. See, I saw this beautiful rock and I wanted it” You explain like it’s the most obvious reason. His eyes turn to smile as he laughs at your story.

“You’re pretty cute,” he says as his eyes flit over your probably atrocious looking face. You were about to thank him for pretending his compliment when you suddenly get tugged back by the shoulder and slapped (spanked is more correct because it was intended as punishment) hard on the ass.

“No, she’s not” Jackson responded through a clenched smile towards the man, and a death sentence glare towards you. Your eyes quickly fall to your feet knowing where this was headed. You were used to his humiliation tactics honestly. You just hated that he had to do it in front of the cute stranger.

“Now, that really isn’t something you should say to a lovely woman such as herself." You whip your head up in shock as a pretty pink coats your cheeks. You can’t remember the last time you were genuinely complimented like that. No aggressiveness, no “pointers”, just admiration. The sudden high you received from the comment gave you enough clarity for what you were about to say. You rip yourself from Jackson’s grip and turn to him.

“Jackson, that is it! I’m done with you! You’ve left me for other girls time and time again, and even when I come with you tonight, you still leave me to go hook up with some other girl. You don’t like me anyway so let’s be done with this and just leave each other alone, okay?” Jackson’s face held a harsh glare for a moment until he broke into a smirk, chuckling.

“Whatever, you were just another whore to mess around with anyways.” He turned to head back into the party without a second glance, and just like that, he walked away from you and out of your life. While there was a relief that you would no longer have to deal with him, the fear of being forever alone and unwanted began to set in. Jackson had truly made you believe you were worthless. Tears begin to stream down your face once more, and you let out a quiet sob when you feel a warm grip on your shoulder.

“Hey,” the stranger calls softly. You had nearly forgotten he was there. Warmth floods your face in humiliation.

“Look, I-I’m so sorry for my boyfriend, well ex-boyfriend, and I just—gah, I’m sorry. . . wait I don’t even know your name—” you speak through tears.

“Jungkook,” he answers warmly. “Jeon Jungkook.”

“Oh, thanks, Jungkook. And I’m sorry again about the guy and the tears and me. I’m Y/N by the way. Y/N Y/L/N.

“Y/N, a fitting name for such a beautiful woman.”

“Are you drunk?” You abruptly question. There was no way someone like him would have said that sober. His face shows he’s slightly taken aback, but he responds humorously.

“Uh, well yes” he laughs. You drop your head. You knew he couldn’t have actually found you pretty. But then a soft touch under your chin is slowly lifting your head until your eyes meet his glassy doe eyes.

“But you’re beautiful whether I’m drunk or not.” He whispers, and you can’t help but smile. There was something about him (besides his devastatingly handsome good looks) that sparked something within you. You aren’t sure if it was because he stood up for you, or if it was because you were sad and needed comfort. You weren’t sure what it was at the time, but before you could rationalize your actions you stood up on your toes to plant a soft kiss on his lips. It was sudden, short and sweet. But it was also like a thank you, mixed with whatever that other feeling was. As your lips separated, your thoughts suddenly crowded you, trained to pounce on you when you’re happiest. What are you even thinking? He was probably just being nice. He wants nothing to do with you. Can’t you see how drunk he is? He probably won’t even remember this.

“I-I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean to do that. I’m nowhere close to being beautiful, especially for you, and you’re too drunk to realize that and—"Panic begins to overwhelm you. You’re rambling and you hated yourself for not begin good enough. Not good enough for Jackson, not good enough for yourself, and certainly not good enough for Jungkook. Your eyes begin to look around searching for anything to pull you out of the chaos. Then you feel him wrapping his arms tight around you, bringing you into his arms in a tight embrace. His hand begins to smooth down the hair on your head as he whispers to calm you down.

“Hey, hey hey, shhh. I know it’s hard. Bad relationships can tear people apart, and from the little bit I saw, he didn’t seem to be a keeper. I don’t know your whole story, and you don’t know mine. You don’t think I’ll remember this, and I could say the same of you, but from tonight do this one thing for me okay?” You nod your head slightly against his chest as your breathing begins to level out.

“You’re beautiful. Not because I said so, and not because anyone else does. You’re beautiful because you simply are, and no one can add to that and no one can take that away. Just remember that one thing for me if you forget everything else. And I’ll remember the pretty girl who nearly face-planted into the water fountain.” You pull back and lightly push at him away as you both break into soft laughter.

“At least I’m memorable right? Haha.”

“You are most certainly memorable.” He responds more seriously.

Before either of you could make another move, your phone buzzes alerting you that your uber was on the street.

“Well, it looks like it’s time for me to go home. Thank you for being my good memory.” As you turn to walk away, he softly responds.

“Thanks for being mine.” He was sure you didn’t hear him, but you did. And you knew that no matter what, you would treasure tonight because of it. Even though it came from an inebriated stranger, his words did more healing for you than he would ever know.

Your forgotten noodles are entirely too cold to eat once you come out of your memories. Yeah, you remember that night rather well. Better than he thought I would, and obviously better than he did since he didn’t recognize me. Your friends have asked you why you remember that night so well, and why you give a stranger so much credit for setting you on your path to rebuilding your confidence. Your answer remains the same each time. It’s because that night marks the first time you ever believed in the concept of true love: for another, and for yourself.

           The next Saturday you’re placing the last finishing touches on your makeup. Just come concealer, a little bit of powder, and then mascara. Just enough to make you feel a little extra pretty. You quickly check your reflection in the mirror, and with a soft grin you head out towards the park. As you approach the fountain from a distance you see him first. You can’t help the blush you feel as you get closer. Suddenly his eyes catch yours, and you both draw in a breath as you meet.

“Hey there” you greet with a smile.

“You look stunning,” He comments before even returning the greeting. “Oh, and hey, hi. Haha,,,ready to head over? The movie is about to start.” He grins at you.

“Yeah, let’s do it. I have a feeling I won’t ever forget tonight” you reply softly, grinning down at your feet, attempting to hide how fiercely you’re blushing. He’s quick to lift your head up by your chin and peer into your eyes.

“You don’t need to hide from me. You’re beautiful, and I don’t think I could ever forget the memories we’ll make.” He glances back at the water fountain before chuckling lightly. “You know, I once met a beautiful, shy girl by a water fountain at a party a few years back.” Your eyes snap over in time to see his mischievous smile as he winks at you and begins to walk down the street towards the theater.

“Jeon Jungkook you get back here and explain yourself!” You shriek as you run after him, and he begins to pick up speed down the street. As you case after him, you can’t help but think to yourself, please never let us forget each other.

Your job at the hospital is ER patient registration. It is rather straightforward occupation: register the patient when they come into the emergency room. Nothing more, nothing less. In most circumstances, it would be an easy job…but you’re not in most circumstances considering that the hospital you’re employed at is located downtown, only a few blocks away from a long strip of somewhat questionable bars and nightclubs. The daytime shifts were normally easygoing; the only complications being the odd day here and there where the ER would overflow with patients from minor ailments. Now, that was the daytime shift, but working the overnight shift (especially on weekends) was a different story. You can account for several times in which patients were so incredible intoxicated that you had to repeatedly remind them of their location followed by why they were there. Furthermore, attempting to register drunk patients into the ER was like talking to a toddler: a lot of babbling and no clear answers. Due to this, finishing your charts was next to impossible and the minutes dragged into eternity. You would do anything for a distraction…

…and wow, did your hospital always deliver.

The one piece of excitement to break up the registering monotony was the attending physician on call: Dr. Min. You never spoke a word to him, preferring to ogle him like every other female employee (and more often than not, the patients too). He was strikingly beautiful with slightly mussed blond hair and penetrating eyes softened by his gummy smile. He was physically astonishing, yes, but you also recognized that he was one of the only attendings that treated all the hospital employees equally. Although, there was one particular feature that plagued your mind most nights: his hands. The way his wide palms flooded into his long and firm fingers made arguing with the drunks worthwhile. Only God above knows how often you imagined those hands grasping your neck. As if to entertain your prayers, you have been blessed in that Dr. Min always works the overnight shifts for some unholy reason. At this point you’ve convinced yourself that that ethereal being is the only reason you continue working the overnight sift; otherwise you would have saved yourself countless hours of sleep and frustration.  

Snapping out of your recollection, you shake your head a little and look at the clock in the ER as it strikes 10 a.m. Your back was already aching in the creaky chair with you share a love/hate relationship. You had begun your day shift at 6 a.m., only to take on the night shift as well when one of your co-workers begged you to change with them. Being the ever-so kind and honestly broke soul that you are, you take it without a lot of convincing. Your eyes wondered about the relatively empty waiting room as you calculated how you would spend the five hours between your dayshift and overnight shift. You settle upon going home to take a shower and hopefully a short nap. Before you started drooling over the thought of your bed, the irritating squeak of a soccer mom with her cleated-up son snatched your attention. You huff as you fall into your chair and pull up a new registration form. You plaster the most convincing smile you can as you address her, “Yes ma’am, can I have the patient’s name please?”

You awake to the blaring of your alarm and nearly throw your phone against the wall. You rub the sleep out of your eyes as you attempt to come out of the coma of a nap you fell into. You dress yourself in black work pants and a nice white shirt, at work you were required to wear business attire. You stumble to the bathroom to make yourself look somewhat presentable. Drunk people were brutally honest, and you had gotten enough rude comments about your tired appearance in the past. You make yourself some coffee and grab an apple as you head off for your overnight shift.  

You clock in at the hospital at 22: 30 sharp and begin to settle in at the desk to get your “day” started. After a few hours, you were surprised with how calm the shift had gone thus far. Granted, it was a weekday and people didn’t tend to drink and go as hard as they would on the weekends. You were currently taking a short break in the back room behind the desk when you hear a knock at the door. Your eyes flip to a computer on the counter expecting to see an alert for a patient needing to be registered. When no such notification appeared, your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Another knock on the door drags your feet underneath you as you go to open the door. With widened eyes and a sucked in breath (can’t believe your body betrayed you), you greet the captivating gaze of Dr. Min. Realizing that you were just standing their gawking (good job being subtle), you address him.

“Oh-uh, hi, Dr. Min. Is there a patient I need to register?” You don’t fail to notice his deft fingers gripping a coffee cup in one hand. You mentally wipe your drool when he smiles at you and peers down at you.  

“No, I just came here to bring you some coffee.” He responded, waiting for you to take the steaming black liquid.  

You take the coffee with a grateful smile. You continue to stare at each other awkwardly until you realize that he’s waiting for you to let him into the room. In your haste, your slosh the scalding liquid on your hand as you pull the door open wider. You muffle a small yelp and watch curiously as he looks around the small space. The backroom was better described as a spacious closet with a couple chairs in the corner next to a counter in the back corner and a small bed lining a wall for the employees to rest when they have a break. The only other piece of furniture was a small cabinet next to the door where employees often kept little snacks and such. A computer which monitors patients waiting to be registered sits atop the small counter. There were no windows, only another door at the other end of the room which led to a small supply closet. You both make your way across the room and settle into the two chairs.  

“I haven’t seen you in a while.” His voice startled you when he interrupted the silence.

“Oh, well I’ve been working more of the morning shifts recently. I’m in charge of training new hires to do outpatient registration and insurance verification.” Gah, you sound lame.

“Then congratulations.” Dr. Min responded, taking a sip of his own coffee.

“Thank you, Dr. Mi—"

“—Please call me Yoongi” he interrupted. Fuck, if you could only manage to stop staring at his hands long enough to come up with something decent to add to the conversation. You were pathetic honestly. Too distracted by a simple appendage that you had yourself…oh, but not like his. You felt yourself growing wet just from wandering how good and different his fingers would feel deep inside your p—  

“—So I won’t be able to see that pretty face as often?” Interrupted again damn it.  

You blush fiercely “Huh? Oh, uh, well-no. No, not really, only if they need me to work overtime, or I cover someone’s shift…” This time your eyes lock onto the way he runs his thumb across his lower lip, and you lick your own lips from pure instinct.  

“So, let me ask you this…’ Yoongi starts, with a deeper drawl to his voice. “Why do you keep looking at my hands?” You choke slightly from two things. The first, being that he caught you. The second, to keep yourself from shouting that you are indeed staring because you’d like to try on his hand as a new necklace. You cover up best you can.

“I-uh, have always wondered if you play the piano because you have long fingers?” FUCK, you suck at this. I mean yes, that has been a passing thought, but there was no way he would buy that. He smirks at your flustered state.

“Hmmm, is that truly what you were wondering?” He says with knowing eyes. “The answer is easy then. I’ve played piano since I was young and have kept it up because it—relaxes—me.” He whispers the last words, giving you a pointed stare as he drags your chair closer to his. “Now, I’m no detective, but most people don’t blush and rub their thighs when they think of piano playing. Try again. Tell me what you’re actually thinking.” You can feel his thighs pressing against yours, but you can’t break his stare when your faces are mere inches apart. However, when you feel his hand (HIS HAND) make its journey across his thighs and onto your own, your eyes fly down to the point of contact. At your action, Yoongi moves both his palms onto your knees and slowly begins dragging them upwards. Licking his lips, he leans across until his breath on your ear sends chills down your spine.  

“You can tell me, dear,” he drawls in a low, sexy voice.

At this, you stilled completely. What was even going on? Where was this coming from? Wait, what were you thinking?? The most eligible bachelor in the entire hospital was hitting on you and you’re questioning it? Within seconds, you come to the conclusion that while you may still wake up from this dream at any moment, you didn’t want to waste the opportunity. With a newfound courage, you lock eyes with Yoongi.  

“I want you to choke me with your hands,” his grip on your thighs tighten, “and I want your fingers deep inside me.” You’re blushing fiercely, but your stare doesn’t waver. His lips turn up in a smirk at your juxtaposed reaction. The next few seconds turn into complete chaos.

“Now we’re getting somewhere,” Yoongi growls.

Next thing you know, one of his hands are tangling into your hair as he pulls you in by your neck to crush your lips against his. You only take a second for shock before you’re kissing him back just as eagerly. The kiss was aggressive but controlled, passionate but dominant as well. You chucked internally because of c o u r s e that’s how he kisses. You soon feel his tongue skimming against your lips, demanding entrance. Without objection, a groan escapes you as his tongue overcomes you, eager to conquer its newfound territory. However, just as you placed one of your hands on his chest, he abruptly pulls away. He steps his way across the room reaching for the door. For a split second you panic, thinking that you had done something wrong that made him want to leave. Just when you’re about to call out to him, his fingers find the doorknob and turn the lock. He turns back around to be faced with your shiny swollen lips and confused expression. He leans back against the door and answers the silent question in your eyes.

“It’s safer to make sure that no one will be able to walk in on us. You wouldn’t want any eyes peering, now would you kitten?” His gives you a small smirk which is quickly replaced by his darkening gaze. “Now get on the bed.”

You’re pretty sure your heart stopped completely at the pet name, but the increasing need for his touch reminded you to follow his demand. You quickly make your way over to sit on the edge of the bed, fingers fidgeting with the hem of your shirt. Seemingly pleased with your eager obedience, he strolls to come stand over you. Grabbing your jaw with his hand, he forced you to look up at him. “Are you sure this is what you want, kitten?”

It was obvious he knew the effect that name had on you as he lets out a small chuckle when you start rubbing your thighs together, desperate for any relief. He immediately stops your feeble attempts by slotting his leg in between your thighs.  

“I’ll help you, but I need a definite answer,” Yoongi glowered.

“Yes! Yes, gah please Yoongi,” you whine. You no longer care how desperate you sounded. You needed his hands on you. In response, he leans down to capture your lips with his, tongues intertwining immediately. He then begins to lean you backwards, crawling over you until your back is flat against the bed. With his thigh still between your legs and his mouth moving to suck on your neck, he takes the hand he’s not using for support and slowly begins to trail it until he’s gripping the bottom of your scrub top. He sucks harder at your neck as his hand moves its way back up your body, this time dragging your shirt along with it. Once he finally pulls the shirt off and over your head, he pulls farther away to take in the sight of you in your bra.  

“Just beautiful,” Yoongi whispers.  

While the small break did wonders for your ego, he returns to nibbling on your lips, your neck, your collarbone, anywhere he could bite onto. As soon as he unclasps and does away with your bra, He moves downward to pull a nipple into his mouth. You arch your back and let out a breathy moan as your hands fly to pull at the roots of his hair.  

“Oh my god, please Yoongi. I-I need—” you gasp. He releases your nipple with a pop.  

“Oh, does my kitten want more?” he responds with a sly grin.  

He then descends again to work on your other breast as one of his heavenly hands travels down to undo the buttons of your pants. Without warning or help, he yanks down your pants and continues to drag them off until they are discarded somewhere on the floor. He sucks in a breath at the sight of your white lace panties.  

“Fuck” he nearly moans.  

He rises above you onto his knees to strip himself of his white coat and scrub top. Your eyes nearly roll into the back of your skull as you take in the sheer expanse of his flawless skin. Not allowing you much time to appraise him, he slides off your panties as those too join the abyss of discarded clothing. He groans when he sees the glistening on the inside of your thighs and can no longer hold control himself.  

As he crawls back on top of you, he captures both of your wrists with one hand in a tight hold above your head. Sucking on your body, leaving small purple bruises as he whispers sweet words of praise. He once more sucks your tongue into his mouth and kisses you deeply before he descends once more, pushing himself backward down the bed as he pulls your legs apart. His hands massage the inside of your thighs for a few moments before you suddenly feel his lips wrap around your clit. You scream out as one of your hands fly from above your head to pull at his hair. He groans at the response and the vibrations only spur you on further. Moans and encouraging pleas fall from your lips as he continues to ravage you as if he will never have another chance. Before long, he slides two of his long fingers deep inside you, beginning a scissoring motion as he slides them in and out ruthlessly. Unsurprisingly, it only takes seconds before he finds that special spot and has your body arching off the bed and you begging for release.

After he finishes dressing, he gathers your clothes off the floor and hands them to you and he grips you and kisses you one more time. He pulls away after nibbling on your bottom lip and walks over to the door. He shoots you once last glance as he unlocks the door.

“Since you say that, you know I’d be more than willing to offer my services to—help—you anytime,” he winks, and before you could respond, he disappears back into the hallway, leaving you dumbfounded but satisfied. You felt like a proud scientist after their hypothesis is proved correct. His hands really were talented for more than just medical purposes. With that lasting thought, you throw your clothes on and return to the desk outside, acting as if you had merely taken a short nap. A short nap that left you with a stupid grin on your face and swollen lips. Yeah, you would definitely be requiring the services of the overnight attending from now on.

It’s been four years now. In the beginning, everything was fresh and exciting. You can still recall every detail of the day your life changed entirely. You were relaxing by the Han river one day; reading a book and soaking in the last few rays of the sun. As you stretched your arms over the back of the bench you sat on, your eye caught onto his movements. There he was, digitally capturing small glimpses of the vibrant life surrounding the river. As your eyes adjusted to take him in, you nearly fell off the bench out of shock. He looked otherworldly with the glow of sun around him. Your eyes latched onto the camera, grasped by his deft fingers with skin leading up to a blue and white striped sort-sleeve. Your eyes drifted farther north only to be struck by the softest bunny smile gracing his features. You still aren’t entirely positive what motivated you to leap outside your comfort zone and approach him, but not a day has gone by where you regretted that burst of irregularity.

A montage of the following four years included regular texting, late night phone calls, and awkward first dates which eventually melded into a feeling so natural it seemed as being with him was second nature. You became an official couple after a sure year of talking and dating. Both of you had been in toxic relationships in the past and were weary to commit until enough time passed. The next landmark occurred after two years of dating. It was a late night at Jungkook’s apartment, and you mentioned how difficult it was to stay awake on the drive back to your place. Without missing a beat, he suggested that you two move in together to remedy your achy eyes, and the rest was history.

Everything was easier with him, and you slowly fell into the idea that this bliss was truly how the right relationships ought to be. You guys barely fought, you confided with each other like best friends, and to top it off, the sex was the amazing. You never had anyone in your life before that could take you to new heights like Jungkook could. Everything was perfect. . .

Too perfect.

It’s been a few months since you started noticing slight changes in him. He comes home late from work, barely talks to you, and even the idea of him touching you is far from imagination. At first, you chalked it up to exhaustion. You were well aware about the daily pressure he was under at work, and so you continued to silently be there for him in hopes of this phase passing by quickly. Even though you spent several nights curled up on your side of the bed and him on his side, you always tried to keep in mind that at least he was there.

That thought you held onto came crashing down recently when he was given a day off. Usually, these rare days were a cause for celebration between you two. You would spend the morning wrapped up in the sheets together only to later go out for a peaceful drive and wonder the cityscape. Yet, this time you simply woke up alone. You clutched your phone as you read a text from him saying to not wait up for him later because he would be spending the day with his friends. Tears threatened to pour down your cheeks, but you held them at bay.

It’s okay. You thought.

He’s just really stressed and needs to relieve some of the tension with his friends. He doesn’t always have to spend his day off with me.

You buried your sinking heart beneath these words, hoping to dull the aches and the signs. It went on like this for a couple of months, and you knew your heart couldn’t take it much longer.

One night, well past the time you would normally be asleep, you heard Jungkook come in from work. He scuffled through the kitchen at first, most likely getting something to eat as he was never home anymore when you would make dinner.

A weight on your chest pressed down further at this thought, making it harder to breathe. These past few months you barely slept or ate. You forced yourself out of your solidary bed each morning as Jungkook always left before the sun came up. While you were still meeting all your deadlines at work, your coworkers had begun to worry about you. Your sadness had brought a lackluster to your appearance, and the bags under your eyes only increased the deprivation look you were sporting most days. You were gradually withering away along with your relationship.

You lay there listening to the refrigerator doors close when you decide to finally confront the distance between you two. You were too physically and mentally weak to keep pretending. You hear him placing the dishes in the sink and padding to the bathroom in the hallway across from the bedroom you shared. As the shower begins to run, you feebly climb out of bed in your night gown and into the kitchen to finish cleaning and putting away his dishes. You turn off all the lights except for the one hanging above the kitchen table.

Soon, you hear the running water come to a stop, and Jungkook emerges from the bathroom. He runs a hand through his wet strands as he looks up to see your cowering form by the table.

“What are you doing still awake? You’re normally asleep by now.” He questions. At least you were able to fool someone that you were sleeping well. Your eyes climb from the floor to meet his. You draw in a deep breath; it was too late to back out of this now.

“I think we need to talk about whatever is going on. We—well at least I—can’t pretend any longer that things between us are okay.”

He sighs and shakes his hair before responding, “I wanted to wait until this weekend. . . but you’re right. We need to talk.” The expression on his face would be similar to those at a funeral home.

“You want to break up?” You mutter, barely holding eye contact. When a look of relief instead of surprise crosses his face, you know you had guessed correctly. You watch him shift uncomfortably, mulling over the best way to respond. You take this moment to scan his form. In your eyes stands the love of your life, still as beautiful as the day you first met. He quickly interrupts your train of thought,

“Look, I just—I think it’s for the best.”

“Do you still love me?” you wonder.

“Of course, I still love you. . .but no longer in the way you need me to.” His graze drops to the floor almost as fast as your heart does into your stomach. You felt the tears in your eyes but fought against them because in the end you knew this had to be the conclusion. Nonetheless, his words pierce your heart.

“When—” your voice came out hoarse. “When did you realize this?” You ask. Immediately a thousand thoughts flood your mind. Did he grow bored of you? Of your relationship? Did he meet someone else? Who was she? Did you know her? Is she prettier than you?

“N-No!” he’s quick to respond. As if reading your mind, he replies, “I haven’t meet anyone else if that’s what you’re wondering. I had been denying this for a while, but it finally settled in a month ago. I’m sorry I’ve waited for so long... I ah, I didn’t have the heart to say anything. I really did try to see if I could get over the feeling!”

His hands are flying around wildly at this point trying to collect an explanation for his bottled emotions.

“—but I’m sorry I can’t.”

I can’t.

The same words when you fall off your bike as a child. The same expression when you give up on understanding math in high school. The same feeling when you weren’t hired for your first job… and the last words of your four-year relationship.

The two of you sit in complete silence as you both accept the chasm in between. You don’t know what to say. You still love him, you’re still in love with him. He’s still the man you see in your future. How is one supposed to respond when the legs holding you up walk away? Your thoughts continue to stumble into chaos as you stare at old scuff marks on the wall. Unbeknownst to you, you’ve been shaking since the beginning of the conversation. You do know; however, that if you meet his once-loving doe eyes, you won’t be able to hold yourself together. With this in mind, you proceed to study the marks more intently, focusing on anything other than the cracking in your chest. He breaks the silence first,

“… I really was going to tell you this weekend. I’m planning on moving out, so you don’t have to worry about finding somewhere else to stay.”

Your eyes immediately flip upwards, “Where are you going to stay then?” You inquire.

“Oh, uh, I’ll be crashing with some friends for now. They have a spare room they said I could use until I find my own place.”

After examining his face, you can see your pain reflected in his expression as well. His shoulders sag, and you can guess that this hurts him almost as much as it hurts you. Almost. Your heart wishes that he had let you down slower, maybe giving you some time to slowly let go. You consider that if you had a few more weeks then you could adjust to his absence… but hadn’t he already done that for you? The past few months it was like living with the ghost of him. But this—this was different. This was final. Although you would always wish for one more day, you know that it’s not reality. You’ll both need to move on. Your thoughts tune back to the present in time to hear him confess,

“—I think it’s best if I leave sooner rather than later. I don’t want to—I can’t hurt you anymore. I think I’ll just grab a bag and head to my friends. I’ll come get the rest of my stuff this weekend.”

Jungkook begins to turn towards the bedroom when you rush across the living room. You grab him by the shoulder and turn him to meet him eye to eye.

“Please,” your voice broke, filling with desperation. “Please, j-just one more night. Hold me l-like you used to.”

Your fingers dig into his shoulder as a single tear slips down your cheek. His face softens as his eyes trace the journey of your tear. He raises his hand and cups your face gently, as if the slightest movement will tear you apart.

“We shouldn’t…” he mumbles. “It won’t make things any easier.”

“Please,” you cup his hand on your face. “Please, Jungkook.” More tears begin to make their arduous journey down your face. The desperation in your voice is humiliating, but at this point you only care about being in his arms one more time.

“I-If you're going to let me go, then give me this last night. Give me yourself for the last time. Love me until it’s over.” Your breath catches when his hold on your face tightens. You blink to clear away the tears as he gives a relenting sigh. Whether he was weary from fighting you or himself is a mystery that will forever remain trapped in the night. His gaze deepens as leans down to press his forehead against yours. You can feel his breath across your lips when he mutters,
