started rewatching anime i liked as a teenager to feel connected to my youth. it went south very quickly and now i’m hyperfixated on dandadan of all things.

oh hey!! haven't posted in a while because this has been the worst summer of my life thus far. but i did watch Superman (2025) a couple weeks ago and i fucking loved it so much. i haven't felt so hopeful and horny after a movie in a very long time. i cried so much he's so nice and everyone is so mean to him. even the goofy end credit scene (SPOILERS FOR END CREDIT SCENE!!!!!) where he calls himself a jerk for pointing out that the building was slightly off i sobbed!! nooo clark ur not a jerk!! ur an angel!! i want to eat u!!
on a more prescribing note, i love james gunn for making superman a likable character again. i liked snyder's justice league. sue me! but superman... hmm... why was he so busy aura farming that he didn't even try to rescue anyone. like pls. u are literally an unbeatable super alien.
i never found myself enjoying any superman iteration except some of the versions of him in the comics because i thought he was a cop out. he has every power known to man simply so that he can provide plot armor. but he's never successfully portrayed as a humanitarian or a super HERO or even a silly empathetic man from kansas, but i think that james and his girls did an amazing job writing him and david corenswet did a near perfect job portraying him.
nicholas hoult was smashing as lex luthor! i think the choice to make him into a genius level man baby was awesome. a completely morally bankrupt villain and a protagonist that doesn't represent dumb america, just hope and peace was so nostalgic yet so refreshing to watch.
and lois was an actual journalist!! and a sassy cool one at that!! she wasn't just some eye candy shell of woman that's in love with superman. and i adore her. rachel brosnahan did her big one with ms. lane. a beautiful performance.

these aren't even all of my thoughts but i fear i've yapped too much. thank you james gunn for saving superman and the DCU. i'm so excited to see the rest unfold, and in the meantime i'm going to keep watching the first season of young justice over and over and pretend the rest of the show doesn't exist! #youngjusticementioned
i'm reading midnight sun for the first time right now because i was longing for camp rain covered fantasy, and i can't help but love the little details of the cullen's actual personalities. as someone who has only read the first twilight book (please don't tell me i'm missing out, i just can't through new moon. my unbridled hatred for that whiny little bitch (jacob) will not subside enough for me to willing finish the series) i think that i enjoy edward's perspective more. NOT because i think bella is annoying (she is) but because i just love the other cullens so much.
i'm so in love with alice and her fashion design desktop and her inability to feel anything less than intense love and understanding for most everyone in her life.
rose being a car girl and hating men? yup. absolutely. anything you want milady.
i love how close em and edward are. i feel like it's not really explored enough in the movies or the first book how much the boys act like boys together. jasper, emmett, and edward are so classically brothers it makes me giggle so bad.
jasper isn't mr. warlord man like we see in the movie or a creep like how he's presented the two times he's mentioned in twilight. he's actually just goofy sexy girl with light ptsd. and we can love him for that.
i think i only find myself enjoying midnight sun more than twilight when i read it three years ago because edward is balls to the wall insane and it makes me laugh and because alice is so everything i've ever wanted out of a fictional character and i want all of her lines of dialogue tattooed on the insides of my eyelids so when i lay in bed at night i can see her off-putting ass in my dreams. alice i love you alice. oh! and jacob hasn't been mentioned a single time thus far! thank god!
also i think i might love bella through edward's eyes more than how she's written in the twilight saga. shit maybe i'm in love with an unattainable woman too. me and ed are like this 🤝

i love book/tv series that have a touch of dark autumnal whimsy to them. there's just something so lovely and encompassing about a lightly supernatural found family in a rainy little cove. especially especially especially if they have a bit of the 2003-2013 flavor. please give me recs, i can't keep rereading the same series over and over my mother is starting to worry
