Reminder that we’ve always been here.🏳️⚧️ And we are not going anywhere.
Happy trans day of visibility!! I can finally post my comic that I made for Ann Arbor Library’s TDOV Zine.
Elagabalus 2??-222: A ruler of Rome who told others to call her a lady, wore women’s clothes, sought sex reassignment surgery and was married to both men and women.
Alan L Hart 1890-1962: A doctor and radiologist who went through one of the first hysterectomies to alleviate his gender dysphoria in 1917. One of the earliest gender affirming surgeries done in North America. He developed the standard for tuberculosis screening.
Marsha P Johnson 1945-1992: How can I not mention her? Marsha was trans activist involved in many vital movements such as the gay liberation movement, the stonewall riots and AIDS activism. She also was a part of STAR (Street transvestite action revolutionaries) with Sylvia Rivera. She started going by Marsha after moving to NYC in the 60s. By 1969 she was wearing women’s clothes full time. She was able to start hormone therapy.
Sylvia Rivera 1951-2002: A gay liberation and trans rights activist. She co-founded STAR with Marsha to help young homeless trans women, drag queens and gay youth. She fought for trans people to be included in the conversation of gay rights. She rejected most labels in her life. “I’m tired of living with labels. I just want to be who I am. I am Sylvia Rivera.”
We’wha 1849-1896: A talented Zuni weaver and potter. We’wha was a lhamana, a male-bodied member of the Zuni who takes on the roles usually performed by women. We’wha’s gender identity cannot be traditionally defined by white western standards. Lhamana is a dedicated role specific to the Zuni people. We’wha was an ambassador of the Zuni people, and was friends with an anthropologist named Matilda Coxe Stevenson who wrote about We’wha at length.
Alok Vaid-Menon 1991-present: Activist, writer and comedian Alok is always defying and redefining the gender binary. They speak on deeper issues with the gender binary with poetic language and insightful ideas. I’m just a fan…
You!!- If you read this far you are trans now.
in honor of tdov here's a short comic about my transition
A transmasc group in my city (coordinated by an acquaintance who is an amazing artist!) is having an open call to any artist, but specifically is encouraging/requesting "trans men, trans mascs, nonbinary, and butch folks" to apply. Love it! So excited! Amazing right?
The call has started blowing up and the comments are FILLED with people saying shit like "what about trans women/transfems/nonbinary fems/butch trans women etc." and saying that it's "TERFy" because it's "purposefully excluding trans women" and that it is "divisive"
Listen to me. I understand that the world is FULL to the brim with transmisogyny, which is a HUGE issue!!! HOWEVER!!!! The group is run BY and FOR trans men!!!! If a trans fem group posted something similar, specifically encouraging transfems and trans women to apply, it would definitely experience some similar comments in the opposite direction... BUT, by and large, it would primarily be celebrated by the trans community as a whole (AS IT SHOULD be!!), with trans men reminding each other to not make something geared towards transfems about transmascs.
Trans men need to be able to have spaces for OURSELVES where we can tell OUR OWN stories. Why is that a problem??? Why is it okay to compare the need and want to platform transmasc voices to the violent, disgusting, transphobic and highly transmisogynistic TERF movement????
Anyways
This is your reminder that trans on trans hate should NEVER be accepted no matter WHAT. trans women deserve spaces MEANT for their voices and their shared experiences, and trans men deserve the same!!!! Trans people as a whole simultaneously deserve spaces TOGETHER where we can all share our experiences, but we SHOULD NEVER attack each other for having transmasc or transfem exclusive spaces and projects!!!! These are not mutually exclusive ideas!!!!!
Finally, HAPPY TRANS DAY OF VISIBILITY!!! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
💙✨Thinking of him… ✨💙
Still working on it…

I want to write a book called “your character dies in the woods” that details all the pitfalls and dangers of being out on the road & in the wild for people without outdoors/wilderness experience bc I cannot keep reading narratives brush over life threatening conditions like nothing is happening.
I just read a book by one of my favorite authors whose plots are essentially airtight, but the MC was walking on a country road on a cold winter night and she was knocked down and fell into a drainage ditch covered in ice, broke through and got covered in icy mud and water.
Then she had a “miserable” 3 more miles to walk to the inn.
Babes she would not MAKE it to that inn.
Are there any other particularly egregious examples?
This book already exists, sort of! Or at least, it’s a biology textbook but I bought it for writing purposes:
It starts with a chapter about freezing to death, and it is without a doubt the scariest thing I’ve read in years (and I read a lot of horror fiction).
This book can be downloaded for free on Researchgate, posted there by the author himself:
The Biology of Human Survival: Life and Death in Extreme Environments
they looked at me first
“This is a tapestry I made myself! I just finished it!”
“…. this is…. big.”
“Eighty feet long, ten high, in forty panels! It was originally going to be sixty feet, but then the Thomas Malory Arthuriana got big and I had to put more stuff in.”
“… Malory published in the fifteenth century.”
“Do you have any idea how long it takes one person to embroider eight thousand square feet of tapestry?”
“You’ve had a lot of free time in the last eight hundred years, haven’t you?”
“Not once I took up embroidery as a hobby, no!”
“Want to see my stalagmite cultivation work?”
the stop motion animation one might be real. have you checked on Yuri Norstein lately?
