You know, I’m not autistic but sometimes people think I am because I’m blunt or something but really I’m just German
Something something about how other peoples cultural norms are often seen as some kind of disorder or something.
I mean my German-Russian/Scandinavian family is just straightforward and doesn’t show a lot of emotion because that’s what we do?
It’s like how in some cultures any eye contact at all is rude and those people have a difficult time adjusting to cultures where eye contact is expected.
Like armchair diagnosing people based on surface level behaviors is kind of rude also in my opinion.
I don’t care if I’m autistic or not. I mean I’m not, but it wouldn’t matter to me if I was. My point is that behavior outside of what you personally expect doesn’t necessarily mean anything about a person. And also maybe don’t armchair diagnose strangers on the internet.

grief is so crazy like what if i forget what her laugh sounds like. does she know i loved her. i miss her so much. i catch myself doing things she used to do. i wish i could call her. i miss her so much. i do a crossword puzzle. i cry while washing the dishes. does she know i loved her? my heart feels like a hummingbird. i miss her so much. what if i forget what her laugh sounds like. what if i forget.
i talked ab this feeling in therapy yday and my therapist asked me, “would it really be so bad if your memories changed? if they softened and faded or looked different over time? why does that frighten you so much?” and i said, “i don’t want the love to disappear.” and she looked at me for a long moment and then she said, “it won’t. it doesn’t work that way. even if the memories soften or change, it doesn’t mean the love does. that love keeps going backward in time, forever, because you love her still. all is not lost.” i just thought i would share that in case it resonated w anyone else too.

We lovingly refer to October 10th as „Shakadolin Day,“ as it’s the six-year anniversary of Brandon tweeting „I could see a world where Shallan and Adolin would go for it, but Kaladin is as prudish as I am, so I doubt you’d persuade him. 🙂 For now, we’ll have to leave that to the imaginations of the fanfic writers.“
Prompting many to ask „Wait, is this confirmation that Adolin is Bi?,“ „So Kaladin’s obstacle is his prudishness, not his orientation?,“ and „What do you mean ‚for now‘???“
And in Sandra’s series being prudish is just a challenge not an obstacle 😉

imagine you're a highly skilled scientist and your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere and you call a mechanic to come help you fix it and the mechanic is like "I can't help you but I can tell you about my special interest favorite tv show" and you're like "that's actually not helpful at all and also now I'm having a panic attack" and then the mechanic is like "wait that actually reminds me of an episode of my special interest favorite tv show I am going to tell you about it now because I can" and you're like "please no I actively cannot breathe" and then the mechanic tells you about it anyway because they're neurodivergent and ridiculous and you're like "wait why this helping why are you so gentle and sweet underneath your off putting exterior why are you the best person I've ever met" and then the mechanic is like "I have come up with the solution to your car troubles" and you're like "great I love you let's hear it" and they're just like
"invasive spinal surgery."

I've seen so many posts about Mensah's perspective of ART/Network Effect, how have I not seen one's about ART's crew's perspective. Network Effect as told by Seth.
You have a child who is an extremely powerful (somewhat illegal) machine intelligence. It's a good kid, mostly, except it doesn't play well with others. Your kid periodically goes on short trips by itself, and this has always been fine.
One time, it comes back and it's acting... weird. It keeps bringing up things it has no reason to know about and then dodging questions about it. Finally, you get it to admit that it picked up a hitchhiker on this on this trip, even though you have very strict rules about never picking up hitchhikers. This hitchhiker is obviously it's new favorite person. They watched soap operas together. Your kid loves soap operas now. Your kid shows you a bunch of pictures of this hitchhiker, but won't tell you details because the hitchhiker in question is a wanted criminal on the run and also an escaped slave. This is probably fine (you sure hope it's fine).
Then, you and the rest of your family/friends get fucking kidnapped and used as hostages to make your kid behave. You know that your kid 1) will do anything to protect you, and 2) pretty much always goes for violence first, so you have your doubts about any of this going well.
Then, the hitchhiker your kid will not shut up about appears out of thin air in the middle of a firefight on a planet pretty much no one has any reason to be near and says your kid sent it. It proves this by telling you your kid is a dickhead (this is true and works, but still).
After a lot of mutual rescuing, you're back on board the ship that is also your kid, and find out that your kid kidnapped it's wanted-criminal-hitchhiker-friend and all of it's friends, and has been telling them all of your top secret confidential spy information. The hitchhiker is responsible for 90% of the top news stories you've seen in the last six months. Three different governments want this person dead or alive.
Your kid pushes the hitchhiker's resume across the table at you and makes big sad puppy eyes.
The Locked Tomb tv show but every time they’re in a River bubble everything looks like props in a stage play. The skeletons are just people wearing Halloween skeleton costumes. The blood is all very obviously fake. They do magic effects with streamers and spotlights.
The only ‘real’ things are when the river water starts leaking in and destroying the cardboard set of Canaan house Harrow has created. You see the audience only one time and it’s empty except for the shadow of Gideon lurking far to the back of the theater. Abigail asks “is this really how it happens?”, the lights switch off, and stagehands can be made out moving the set pieces around in the darkness before the light turns on and Harrow is in a new au.

it is my personal opinion that you simply don't survive reading the locked tomb books unless you are relatively media literate and also somewhat crazy insane. this is why discourse in this fandom has fuckall to do with ship wars or who deserves redemption or not and instead can be mostly boiled down to "does the chussy have teeth"

For you and @nonasbirthday - "Powder" is probably Ortus's panniers of ground up bone! That's why Harrow pushed so hard for it. In lieu of an actual second weapon to fight, a Ninth cav might use the sword with one hand and have the other focused on spreading bone matter around the battlefield for the adept to use from anywhere.
Maybe, but that doesn't quite make sense for what the traditional role of a cavalier entails. Outside the Cohort cavaliers duel other cavaliers, there's a whole ranking system. Babs and Protesilaus are both high in the rankings, so it's still a functioning organised sport. Why would there be a registered off-hand that's useless without a necromancer's intervention, if necromancers don't participate in the competition?
