kilikrungpotmeister:
Kilik couldn’t help but let out a chuckle when he heard the amazement in her voice. ”well yeah,” he said, “don’t you know who I am?” This was quite a surprise to him that she didn’t know he had thought that he’s ability was well known around the school. After all it is quite odd to see a meister using vastly different weapons every single day. Though he had to admit, the anonymity did feel good, instead of being hounded by despirate first years just for them to leave him just before they get promoted to the EAT class.
He let out a sigh when he heard that she couldn’t feel him. “That’s normal,” he explained sadly, actually talking this time, “if you didn’t know, I’m what the teachers and Lord Death call a utility meister. It’s a title given to a meister who can either use more than one weapon at a time or whose soul is able to resonate with any soul. I’m able to do both. And the way my soul does it is by copying the wavelength of my partner. It’s like what happens when siblings try to use soul resonance. It’s a seamless and almost perfect resonance. So it’s normal not to be able to feel my soul. It’s practically become part of yours. With that said, that’s the reason I’ve been held back. The longest I’ve been with a single weapon was a three days. So don’t be embarrassed okay?”
He smiled and gently took her hand. “Yeah I guess we should,” he said using his soul to talk this time, “after all this is the first time using a Lantern. I am actually a little excited to see your weapon form. Though I hope you don’t mind teaching me how to use you properly first. You ready Miss Dupre?”
A utility wielder... Now that he mentioned it, Jackie was certain she’d heard of this boy before, if not by name then by reputation. Although not as well known as Black*Star who made sure everyone knew when he was around, the meister in front of her was definitely a force to be reckoned with if the whispers held any weight. This made Jackie hesitate slightly, because what if she couldn’t compare to the many weapons he’d used before? She didn’t want him to toss her away in disgust or be disappointed once he’d seen her transformation.
“I’m ready,” she declared finally, and soundlessly shifted into a lantern. The hand that had been holding hers now grasped her handle, and she let out a sigh of relief when she was finally settled into her weapon form. A reflection of sorts appeared on the side of her lantern, showing her from her bare shoulders and up. She looked uncertain, perhaps nervous, but her eyes showed a steady resolve. They were going to do this, and do it right.
“Kilik?” Jackie called out soundlessly as her soul once more reached out, searching for a place alongside his. Jackie had always longed for the comfort that was supposed to be conveyed along the connection between weapon and meister, and the closeness and intimacy of giving her entire soul to one person. She was looking for the perfect partner, and although she didn’t think it would be Kilik, she was open to giving him a try, if only for the learning experience and to maintain her spot in the EAT class.
“There’s a lever on my side. If you flick your thumb over it, you can create bursts of flame, long or short depending on how much you open the lower chamber. Just be careful not to point me at anyone until you have the hang of it,” Jackie instructed. “I can also extend for transporting a meister, and I can fly on my own, too.”
I’m not a pawn; I’m a person. And I’ve had enough.

soul-reference has been working on a roleplay recommendation page. I set up such a site here, but it is out-of-date. I usually recommend some Soul Eater roleplayers every Saturday morning, which you can find here.
Hey, Soul Eater roleplayers: reply or reblog to introduce yourself!

“You’re going to hurt yourself.” “And then what will happen? We need you, Maka.”

“But Maka....! You’ve only just gotten back. At least take the time to rest and eat something.”
With just a small glance over her shoulder and a shrug, the pistol replied to Jackie’s question. “I don’t know, figure it out yourself.” she said as she walked over to the bar and leaning her arms on it, giving master a nod. “Hey.” He was the only person in this city who didn’t get on the pistol’s nerves. She liked that, mostly cause he just didn’t mess with her or Patty. And today was gonna be an odd day since Patty wasn’t there with her, just the other girl.
The door jingled, meaning a new customer had arrived. Liz didn’t even flinch, letting Jackie take care of them. She knew it was best for everyone that the Thompson sister didn’t deal with their first customers, or they would just end up leaving the place before they could even ask for their meal. “I hate this place…” she mumbled to herself with a sigh, looking up at master who only gave her a look before he went back to cleaning glasses.
The door jingled again and a couple of girls walked inside. “Liz.” the older man said, and she sighed, knowing very well what that meant. Without much enthusiasm, Liz walked over to their table to take their orders. “What can I get’cha?” she asked, not really paying attention to anything the girls had said.
She took the couple’s order, easy-as-pie since it was just two coffees with cream, no sugar in one and the other extra sweet. Though sure she could remember that, she scribbled down the drinks anyway, smiled at the customers, and promised to be back soon. Passing by the table with a new group of girls, she saw Liz’s back. The other waitress wasn’t writing anything, and Jackie had a sinking feeling that the older girl wasn’t going to remember what they wanted. She tentatively reached out, placing a slender hand on one shoulder. “Do you want me to take this one too, Thompson-sa-- ah, Elizabeth-san?” Jackie tried, her pad of paper at the ready in her other hand. “I think Master could use your help,” continued the girl, her voice not wavering once even as she spoke the little white lie. It was only for Liz’s own good, after all, and the good of Deathbucks Cafe.
Maka’s head was so far in the clouds. What was thinking about really?? Stupid things. Whose turn was it to make dinner, and if it was hers, did they actually have anything in the pantry or did she a l s o need to make a run to the grocery store. She just started to drop her head in a rather dejected sigh, when her name being called caught her attention. She tilted her head just slightly to watch Jackie weave her way forward, her grocery list completely forgotten, if even for that brief moment. ❝ Good afternoon, Jacki – You actually picked the two days that I w a s n’ t in class. Soul and I were on a mission in New York. Have you tried asking Tsubaki maybe?? ❞
Jackie was disappointed to say the least, since she really had been counting on Maka’s help. The class had a test scheduled for the next day, and Sid had told her upon coming in that she was required to take it with the others-- sick, or not. “I haven’t seen her today,” she replied honestly, her hands clasped tightly together in front of her. “Do you think she and Black ✪ Star are out?” Jackie let out her breath slowly, trying not to huff since she knew that it would look undignified. She really wasn’t looking forward to asking the King of Lightning himself, Ox Ford, for help. She could already see the condescending smile he’d give as he would graciously pass over his immaculate notes, babbling about Kim all the while. Hearing her name on his lips made her vaguely sick to her stomach, but she chalked it up to the protectiveness she felt over her meister as a weapon.
“I see,” he said nodding a little as he shook her hand. As he did that he discreetly annualized the girls soul and it’s wavelength, giving his soul time to adjust to it. His expression didn’t falter at all at her statement. “At least she’s honest,” he though to himself. I would be a lie if he said that knowing this didn’t disappoint him. He’d prefer his partners at least try giving him a chance when they meet him, even if it was for a day. Though he could that hoping that from her would be like talking to a wall. He could already tell that she was the kind who was looking for the “perfect” match, especially with how unique her soul was. Oh how he envied her for being like that. To be able to have that choice of having only one soul that can resonate with him. Sadly that’s just impossible for him. Unlike most meister’s, who’s simply labeled as “meister”, Kilik had been labeled as a “utility miester”. Which meant that he had the ability to resonate and link with any and all souls with little to no difficulty. It had been a “gift” he’s had for a very long time. However with a soul that connects to any soul it encounter did present a very negative downside. This was the very reason he was in this school in the first place.
“Ready as I’ll ever be,” he said flatly as he turned his head to her. His soul instantly latched onto hers as soon as it senses it reaching out for it. “Yup it’s me,” he said in she same way she was talking to him, however his voice sounding a lot more tired and bored than his physical voice, “you’re soul’s a little…specific so I doubt you’d be able to identify anyone else’s soul. Let alone resonate with it without altering your own wavelength first. I guess I know now why Sid pared you with me for today.”
“It’s... working,” was the first she said in reply, her internal voice hushed and filled with amazement. “I’ve never been able to resonate so well with anyone else before.” Despite having made it into the EAT class in a short amount of time, Jackie had always found soul resonance with each and every meister she’d tried with to be a struggle. Her merits as a weapon alone were formidable, but she knew she faced being held back and left with the NOT students who couldn’t find a partner. It was strange, knowing that he could see and feel all of her soul. She reasoned that he must feel the same way, though when she probed at his soul, she found the vast majority closed to her. Jackie wasn’t sure whether he was blocking her intentionally, or whether she was doing something wrong, but either way, a spark of frustration jumped from her along their mental connection. “I still can’t quite feel you,” Jackie admitted to him with a twinge of embarrassment, her eyes still shut even as she reached out a hand to him on the physical level. “Do you want me to transform, Kilik? We might as well practice together before Sid throws us into a match once he notices.” As the teachers at Shibusen said, she had a weapon lying dormant inside her. Over the span of the time she’d spent here, she’d gotten rather good at efficiently finding and reaching for it. So it was no problem for her to shift into her lantern form, especially with Kilik’s connection still present.
