Stupid, really, for her to have been fighting so close up, a bard who deals mostly in tricks and healing magic - one whose magic is mostly used at range - pulling a rapier and getting into the fray of a fight. Aurora had felt sick as she had seen a blade coming right towards her though, she wasn't really all that well trained with a sword, after all and without any armour she was incredibly vulnerable to attack.

She had hesitated, closed her eyes to brace for the killing blow which didn't come, instead she heard a grunt and a heavy thud, and she opened her eyes in time to see Kidrid do the same, though she wasn't looking good. She stood tall then and quickly did all she could think of to do, sheathing her sword and holding out the few coins she had with shaking hands, "Please-- just-- leave us be."

They hesitated but took the coins as Kidrid seemed to be coming to, they had already taken a beating from her and clearly decided it for the best they run before round two. Aurora knelt quickly down and looked at the injuries on the half orc woman, "You're-- you're really badly hurt, stay still, stay calm. I'm going to-- I'm sorry. I'm going to fix this-- Why would you put yourself in front of me? You could have-- Nevermind let's get you healed up, mm?"

Kidrid had not been expecting the surprise attack, which made sense because it was after all a surprise round, but didn't make the situation any less jarring. It would have normally been okay but then she'd rolled low in her initiative and before she knew it herself and Aurora had been pummelled with hits from all sides, the group of bandits getting one up on them as they vastly outnumbered the pair.

In the blind anger that had seared through her she had almost slain one of the faceless men before she'd seen another going at Aurora from the corner of her vision. With the anger coursing through her she didn't have the time to think about how stupid it was that Aurora was lurching forward with a rapier instead of staying back. All she could think of was the obvious critical hit and how her bard had sustained enough injury that that would fuck her up. Reflectively she felt herself lurch forwards, standing at full height to shelter her the only way she knew how.

As the clearly rusted longsword plunged into her gut she felt herself fall backwards for just a moment as the life slipped from her. Everything blacked out around her for a split second. Everything was gone. And then there was a loud sound of crackling lightening in her head and her eyes flew open, the blood pumping through her spurred on by the spirit of her ancestors. Reeling from the sensation of her orcish resilience she watched as Aurora threw her bag of coins at the bandits, glad that they decided it was enough to retreat rather than try to continue fighting. Kidrid felt herself breathing heavily as Aurora tried to steady her. The sensation was shocking, but not debilitating, and Kidrid just about managed to pull herself up as she looked up at Aurora, her breathing ragged. "Hey, I'm okay, I'll live." She tried to smile a little, but she could feel her hands shaking from the drastic end to her rage as she squeezed Aurora's hand softly. "Critical that looked like, can't have you going down, yeah? How am I going to heal you? By shouting?" Kidrid tried to sit up a bit, pressing a hand to her still bleeding wound that was starting to thrum with pain. "You got a healers kit in those pockets of yours?"

"No healers kit, just a pastry--" She let out a shaky laugh as she squeezed Kidrid's hand back and rested her forehead against her shoulder, muttering a few words quietly and casting healing word in an attempt to keep her stable, a first level spell but it was better than leaving her looking so badly hurt. She could feel her hands trembling as she searched in her pockets for a healers kit. "We got one a little while back, right? Y-you have it?" She moved to look in the other woman's bag, pulling out a few bandages and sighing in relief.

"No, you couldn't have gotten me back up by yelling at me-- though saying that I've heard of some strange Bards from a far off land that do scream when singing, so I suppose it is possible." She dabbled for a moment before smiling, looking wary as she knelt down beside her companion.

She could feel Kidrid's hand shaking as she held it for just a moment and she felt herself blinking tears out of her eyes before wiping them away quickly with the end of a scarf, "I'm sorry." She said again, her words coming out a little broken as she turned her head up towards Kidrid, looking at her properly and then smiling just a little, "You scared me, you aren't supposed to get knocked out like that. You bounced back pretty fast though, mm?" Another laugh, she sounded a little more steady now despite her eyes still darting around the area they were in, on high alert. She was trying to keep a look out while she fixed Kidrid up, pretending she didn't feel incredibly guilty that her bad move could have gotten Kidrid killed.

She held up the bandages to her and pushed her hair back from her face before lifting the hem of the half-orc's shirt to look at the worst of the wounds, the one that probably would have killed Aurora, had it hit. Her stomach twisted once again and she took a salve from the kit, "I'm not really trained in this, but it's worth a try, mm?" She said gently, trying to sound at least a little soothing. "That looks like it could leave a scar."
