Can we appreciate Naoko Takeuchi for the level of inconsequential detail in Sailor Moon for a second
I'm doing a little light reading on astrology and long story short, all of the zodiac signs have a ruling planet or celestial body associated with them. Every time the planets are brought up, the first thing I think of are the Sailor Senshi because of how huge Sailor Moon was for me in my youth (and adulthood, let's be real), so I thought it would be amusing to see if Ms. Takeuchi had assigned the Senshi birthdays and what sign they all are.
And I'm a little shaken by the results.
Sailor Moon - June 30 - Cancer, ruled by the Moon
Sailor Chibi Moon - June 30 - Cancer, ruled by the Moon
Sailor Mercury - Sept 10 - Virgo, ruled by Mercury
Sailor Mars - April 17 - Aries, ruled by Mars
Sailor Jupiter - Dec 5 - Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter
Sailor Venus - Oct 22 - Libra, ruled by Venus
Sailor Neptune - March 6 - Pisces, ruled by Neptune
Sailor Uranus - Jan 27 - Aquarius, ruled by Uranus
Sailor Pluto - Oct 29 - Scorpio, ruled by Pluto
Sailor Saturn - Jan 6 - Capricorn, ruled by Saturn
Tuxedo Mask - Aug 3 - Leo, ruled by the Sun
She chose all of their (and Mamoru's!) birthdays so they deliberately lined up with the ruling planet (or the Sun, in Mamoru's case) of that star sign.
Maybe I'm a little late to the game with this realization (that'd be par for the course with me, lol) but whoa. Ms. Takeuchi's attention to detail is incredible and the love and thought she put into Sailor Moon shines brightly.
