SUMMARY: -
Ava stood at the sink, washing dishes as she thought to herself. Later this week she needed to go to the grocery store and pick up some bananas, tomatoes, a few cans of mixed fruit. She needed rice and at least two pounds of chicken wings. Sighing out, she rolled her tongue over her lips as she continued to scrub the dishes looking over at the broken dishwasher with a huff. Her husband was supposed to take a look at it but still hadn’t gotten to it yet and at this point, she wasn’t opposed to calling someone in to fix it.
Luca slide down the slid off the huge backyard play set, he giggled at his friend Sunshine as she chased behind before he took off towards the swing. Luca ran behind them before he ran back to the play set climbing up the steps quickly and climbing up to the top of the play set carefully. It was something he’d done before and honestly had been told not to by his mother a 1000 times over, but he knew she wasn’t paying attention to them at all.
Sunshine chased Luca, following him down the slide and when he darted she reached the landing catching her breath. He always seemed to have energy for days and how she didn’t know. As he moved for the play set she looked up watching him “you are going to hurt yourself, get down Luca” she told him. “Get down now” she commanded.
Ava placed the freshly rinsed dish in the rack before she grabbed the towel, drying her hands. She opened the dishwasher door and looked inside of it curiously, touching a few of the cords here and there before she closed it with her hip and returned to washing the dishes with a huff. “Oh I’ll take care of it baby,” she said deeping her voice, mimicking her husband. “A whole damn month thing still not fixed,” she said fussing to herself as she moved to clean a pot.
Luca chuckled “no I’m not” he teased before he stuck his tongue out to her. “No” he told her as he held on to the top of the play set “come make me” he taunted playfully.
Sunshine blocked the sun from her eyes and she shook her head “you aren’t playing fair Luca, I’m going home!” she yelled at him.
Ava cleaned up the pot before she slowly lifted her head, looking out the window to the backyard and her heart skipped a beat seeing Luca on top of the playset. Sitting the pot down in the sink, she moved for the back door, sliding it open. “Luca!” she called out. “Get your ass down from there! Now!” she yelled out to him before she closed the door and moved back to the sink to finish washing the dishes watching the two kids through the glass now.
Luca frowned at Sunshine “no I don’t want you to go” he told her before he looked up at his mother. “Yes ma’am” he said as he moved to climb down slowly, he moved for Sunshine and said “come on” grabbing her hand and pulling her up the playset.
Sunshine looked back at Luca’s mother and then to him, she knew he would get in trouble. He climbed down and grabbed her hand she moved with up the bridge of the playset and towards the inside of it.
Ava watched Luca until he got down from the roof of the playset before she returned her focus to the task at hand. She scrubbed the pot clean before she rinsed it and placed it in the rack. “Ima call a damn somebody to fix this dish washer,” she said mumbling to herself once more. “Also, I need to get the oil changed on my car,” she said thinking out loud before she began to think about what she was going to make for dinner.
Luca sat down with Sunshine in the playset and asked “what do you want to play?” sweetly. “Cops and robbers?” he suggest.
Sunshine sat Indian style and shook her head, “no” she said to him with a displeased face. “Let’s play house!” she said happily “I’ll be the mom and you be the dad” she told him. “And my doll can be the baby” she told him as she moved for it near the slid. Sunshine grabbed her baby doll and came back and showed Luca “see” she said.
Finishing up with the dishes, Ava dried her hands and moved to look in the fridge to find something to cook. They had salmon, things to make spaghetti, or she could roll some dough and make some homemade pizzas. Eyeing the options, she settled for the salmon deciding to make honey glazed baked salmon with a salad and maybe some potato skins.
Luca looked to the young girl and he nodded his head watching her walk off. “Do you like me Sunshine?” he asked an idea sparking in his little mind. “If you do, I we can show it like grown ups do” he told her.
Sunshine held her babydoll and she looked to Luca nodding his head. “Yeah” she said “and how do they do that? A kiss?” she asked.
Ava grabbed the salmon and potatoes from the fridge as she prepared to cook them up. Grabbing a pot and a baking dish from the cabinet, Ava went to work, cleaning the fish and getting it seasoned just right.
Luca looked to her and shook her head “my dad told me about another way” he told her with a smirk.
Sunshine put her baby aside and said “show me” curiously.
Luca nodded his head and he moved on his knees pushing Sunshine down and he grabbed her arms pinning them down as he began to dry hump her as he saw his father do to his mother.
Sunshine looked up at the boy oddly and he pushed against Luca “Luca this is weird I don’t think I like this” she said confused. “What is this called?” he asked her.
Ava hummed softly as she looked at the time, she had about an hour or so to finish dinner and she felt that was an adequate amount so that she didn’t have to rush. Moving to the sink, to wash her hands off, she looked out the window, seeing Luca and Sunshine humping. “Oh my God,” she all but squealed as she dropped the towel in the sink and darted for the door. “What in God’s name,” she said as she pulled the sliding door open and went running outside, holding the bottom of her skirt as she did. “Luca!” she screamed out, her sandals catching a bit as she moved across the grass as quickly as she could.
Luca looked to her and shrugged “I don’t know, he didn’t tell me. But grown ups who like each other do it” he told her as he continued to pin her down and hump her like his father did. “You don’t like it?” he asked her looking to her weirdly “my Mom liked when my Dad did it to her, she said it felt good” he told Sunshine. When he heard his name he looked to his mother “yes?” he said to her angrily, she was interrupting their play time.
“Grown ups?” Sunshine questioned as Luca’s actions caused her dress to rise a little. “It’s weird, grown ups are weird” she said unpleased “your Mom likes this?” she asked as she looked up to see Luca’s Mom running. “You are in trouble again” she said.
Ava’s heart was beating rapidly in her chest. She couldn’t even fathom what she was seeing right now. “Get off of Sunshine right now!” she screamed as she came to a stop right before she playset, staring up at the two kids in utter disbelief. “What in the world are you doing?” she asked them both. “Down here, right now,” she said pointing to the ground beside her. “The both of you.”
Luca looked to his mom in confusion and stopped climbing off Sunshine. “Showing Sunshine that I like her” Luca shrugged, “like dad does to you” he said as he moved to climb down like his mom asked. Luca jumped down carefully and stood before his mom “I thought you liked that mom” he said looking up at her with a strange face.
Sunshine looked to Luca then his mom and she moved to climb down following the boy. She stood before the woman innocently and said “Luca said his dad told him it’s okay to do that. That grown ups who like each other do that, I like Luca” Sunshine beamed. “But I didn’t like that” she frowned. “But you like it?” she asked Mercedes confused. “It feels good to you?” she asked “I didn’t feel anything…” she admitted.
Watching the two climb down from the playset, Ava stared down at them both as they began to explained themselves and all color drained from her face. “Oh my God,” she said dropping her head into her hands as she pinched the bridge of her nose. She took a moment to gather herself and her thoughts before she knelt before she two children. “Okay so…” she said not even knowing where to begin. “First things first, you two are children, not adults, not grown ups, but children and I don’t even want to look out here and see you two doing anything of this nature even again, do you understand me?” she said looking at them both in their eyes to make sure the message was clear. “We are not going to worry about that I like, okay,” she said out-right. “It’s irrelevant,” she said before she realized the probably needed to use a smaller word. “It doesn’t pertain to either one of you, what I like,” she said before she sighed out. “Sunshine I think it’s about time for you to go home okay, so go get your things and I’m going to walk you,” she said as she stood up fully. Her husband was going to get an ear full when he got home.
Luca looked to his mother and then to Sunshine “okay” he shrugged his shoulders not knowing what he actually did wrong. Luca frowned when his mother told Sunshine to get her things “I’ll help” he told Sunshine before he took off towards the house. “But she did say it felt good” he tried to whisper to Sunshine a giggle leaving his mouth as they moved for the house.
Sunshine looked back at Luca before she nodded her head, she didn’t know why she was in trouble Luca is the one who wanted to try it. As look said he’d help she nodded and they both went scurrying for her things at his words she giggled with him “your mom is weird Luca, it felt like nothing” she shrugged going to brag her backpack, forgetting her doll behind.
