Full Biography
Below the cut you will find the full biography written on Lucinda.
Even though Lucinda knew that she was the result of a one night stand from her mother with a Muggle somewhere abroad, she was raised as a Pureblood and in the end that was the most important thing. Nobody needed to know who her father was, it was not of importance.
Growing up has always been a tactical game, completely planned by her mother. Hiding her bloodstatus was not going to be enough if she wanted to be a part of the Upper Class within the Wizarding World. No, Lucinda was to be expected to be friends with the people high up the Pureblood Hierarchy. So that was what Lucinda tried during the many play party’s that were organized during the high teas of the mothers. But the young girl knew that letting people get close to her was not an option. She did not want to risk the people knowing she was not a Pureblood like any other in the same room. So she often was the girl who was sitting on the side, watching the others, observing and see how she would be able to use everything that she was seeing. It was a trait tht she learned from an early age and that she still uses until this day.
There has been one constant escape throughout Lucinda’s life. The first time was when she borrowed the child’s broom of the son of the cook. Flying gave her a completely new experience and it made her feel free. Flying became her escape and she had a talent for it. Her mother was far from happy about it, a girl like Lucinda was not expected to be flying around the garden in her spare time. She was not expected to be falling off the broom from time to time when a stunt failed, to return home with scraped knees or a broken bone. Lucinda knows that a dent in the wall in the hallway was covered up by a cabinet that she moved over so it was covered - forgetting to repair it later on. But there was no way that Lucinda was going to give the broom back. She even got one of her own after whining for it for months.
Going to Hogwarts was only more pressure on Lucinda. It wasn’t just the Pureblood society anymore who could figure out abotu her. No, it was an entire school now and that was the problem. And how was she going to make sure that no one was going to find out; by not letting people get close to her. She was not going to let anyone close to her and risk that people would find out about the truth that she had so carefully hidden. So she heavily relied on the traits that she already had as a person. People would probably see her as a bitch but she couldn't care less. If this was the way to save herself, then this was how she was going to do it.
Lucinda wasn’t a problem student. Sure, she would get into a fight from time to time. But she had good grades, she was part of some extracurriculars and part of the Slytherin Quidditch team. Of course. Who would’ve doubted that? She became one of the Beaters on the team. What better way than to get rid of the anger she boiled up by smashing some Bludgers at people? She worked herself up to becoming the Captain of the team. During her last year at Hogwarts, several scouts were in the bleachers to look for her and she got lucky to get scouted by the Caerphilly Catapults. A smaller team from Wales but with a rich history. It wasn’t her dream team yet, but she definitely would have to go to Bulgaria for that.
During the war Lucinda tried to stay out of it. With her reputation built up as a Pureblood one, she was rather safe from the war. With her connections mostly tied to the Death Eaters but also with her being a public figure, she breezed through the war. She knew she was lucky in that kind of way, not having lost anyone in the war.
It was only after the war that she was pulled out of her comfortable world. An injury to her elbow that involved a Bludger, a Beater from the opponent and her ligaments torn, ended her Quidditch career. Which meant that she had to search for another career to have for the rest of her life. And that was quite a struggle. Quidditch had been her life. And the last thing Lucinda wanted was to be forgotten. So she got a job at the Ministry, working for the Quidditch department but sitting behind a desk… She is not quite sure how long this is going to fit her.
In school, Dolores had always thought Lucinda was quite cool. Not that she had or would ever admit this to anyone in a million years, but looking that pretty, while also being so good at Quidditch and then going to play professionally... Dolores was inherently an insecure person, which is what gave birth to the narcissistic and superior behaviour; all a mask to hide her true feelings.
A scoff on her face, Dolores crossed her arms over her torso. "Ah, it's you, Lucinda." Her voice sickly sweet as ever, she flashed a clearly fake smile to the other blonde. Ignoring the situation, as she often did, Dolores shifted to a different topic. "What a pleasure to run into you, darling. How are you enjoying your new job? I assume it's much easier than getting iron balls thrown at you, you must be so relieved to be here instead now." She said, faking concern, very much aware that Lucinda would much rather be playing Quidditch.
Lucinda tilted her head slightly as the other woman spoke. A fake smile and a sweet voice... It had often been enough for their teachers to believe Dolores. But behind those two things, there was a lot more hidden and Lucinda knew that.
"Oh, you know. I just love this job," the blonde spoke, sarcasm dripping from her voice. Lucinda found this a lot more difficult than trying to hit a few flying iron balls up in the air, as Dolores put it so mildly. It was a simple thing to her, Quidditch. She was good at it too. Well, she had been good at it. "Let's say that I am happy that I'm still dealing with Quidditch on a daily basis. And now Dolores, why are you away from your favourable desk?"
It was an quiet night for the bar. It wasn't that unusual for a night in January. So it didn't worry Alecto. She supposed if her bar was constantly quiet it would be a worry. But she had no concerns that that would ever happen. She'd taken the little run down bar and make it into a successful business. She might have left school with barely any qualifications, but Alecto was a good business woman. And she'd made the bar successful. And if she was honest, a break from some of the more rowdy nights, was a good thing.
She'd sent one of the bartenders home, and was sat behind the bar herself. She was mostly going through new cocktail ideas, whilst being on hand to serve if needed. She looked up as someone approached the bar, and she smirked a little. "Didn't expect to see you here tonight"
It wasn't that strange for Lucinda to turn up at a bar. She had already enjoyed it whenever she was still playing professionally, she had still enjoyed it during the war but after her injury... Lucinda definitely found her refuge a little more often in a bar and Delirium was a favourite destination of hers. The fact that it was owned by someone she already knew from Hogwarts, made her feel a little more comfortable as she walked into the rather quiet bar.
A smile formed on the blonde's face at the sight of Alecto herself behind the bar. "Honey, you know I've been here too many times already this week so you should've expected me here by now." She leaned against the bar top, looking at the redhead in front of her. "Also, you know that I enjoy trying any new cocktail of yours so let's say I am here to help you."
not being able to sit around & do nothing , james finds himself in diagon alley looking for something to do . that , however , is how he bumps into lucinda talkalot ; former rivalry & constant annoyance . well , the last bit isn't exactly true , but james likes to tease her about it anyway . " luci , is that you ? " he questions with a smile , stopping in his tracks & turning to face her . " it's been great , thanks for asking , " he winks . " guess one of us had to go pro ... the better one , right ? " he tilts his head , teasing her . truth be told , lucinda was a great quidditch player , he just figures that she decided not to go pro because her aspirations lay elsewhere . " what have you been up to ? "
The blonde narrowed her eyes at the man in front of her. That was the wrong answer to give to her right now. She was already in a foul mood and this was not going to make it any better. "Potter, we both know that if I had been able to still play, I would be out there sending some Bludgers towards your head." Lucinda's voice was cold as she spoke to the darkhaired young man. She would've given everything to get back out there and flying again. "I've been stuck behind a desk and not on a broomstick, what do you think I've been up to?"
Starter for: James Potter | @pttvrs
Where: Diagon Alley, London
It was not the first time during her life that Lucinda had bumped into James Potter. Seeing as they both had been in the same year and had been part of their Quidditch teams, it was common for them to bump into one another. Both of them having been the captain as well. They had a rivalry.
But the fact that he was still playing Quidditch professionally right now and she wasn't, that was rubbing against her wrongly. Not that he could do anything about it. But it was the reason why she had said something instead of silently passing him on Diagon Alley.
"So Potter, how is it to be on a professional team after I have seen your entire school career?" Okay, that was a lie, Lucinda knew very well that Potter was one of the best flyers and players she had seen in her life.
It was a rather slow day at the Office of Improper Use of Magic. Which was a good thing, Dolores reckoned, since it meant that not as many silly children were engaging in reckless underage magic. But it also meant that Dolores was bored out of her mind, and so she sat up from her desk and walked out of her office, stealing a glance at her much-cherish golden, shiny nameplate that spelled Dolores Jane Umbridge, Senior Associate. There was a skip in her step and a proud smile on her lips as she began to stroll through the magical hallways of the Ministry of Magic, waving at people she knew, even though she didn't like them. Dolores was a lot of things, but she wasn't dense; so she knew that they didn't like her either. Not that it mattered, if they had to listen to her and do what she said.
Walking through the halls of the Ministry felt good; it reminded Dolores that this was where she belonged and she couldn't wait to move higher up the mythical corporate ladder until everyone feared her, until she had so much power that she could simply flick a wrist and make the Wizarding World go 'round.
Lost in the thoughts of her future, she didn't realize when she almost bumped into a figure turning the corner from another hallway into the one where she stood. With a scowl, she straightened her pink jacket and, without looking up to see who had crashed into her, muttered in annoyance, "I don't suppose you're so blind that you can't help running into someone. Merlin."
Her days at the Ministry were days she did not enjoy at all. Lucinda missed the free time she had in between Quidditch practises. She missed the fresh air. Yes, she still had all the tactics and such to deal with during her current job but it was nowhere near her past life. Being stuck behind a desk was not the way she wanted to live her life. Anger was a constant emotion that was filling her up from the inside. And it was driving her insane.
So it wasn't strange that Lucinda was currently found somewhere else but behind her desk. She had been wandering the hallways of the Ministry after she had delivered some files at a different floor. She had just turned the corner when someone bumped into her. The blonde's gaze moved to the other woman and she raised her eyebrows at the sight of Dolores Umbridge standing in front of her.
"Oh Dolores, if you think that that tone is going to work with me, then you are wrong. And you were not watching so you watch it," Lucinda said to her old housemate, clearly not impressed by the other woman. "So should I be calling you the blind one instead?"
"Pansy, I swear to Merlin…" Ivy grumbled, repositioning the squirming baby in her arms, "If you don't stop, you're not getting fed from the tap tonight. Nope, you're getting the bottle." There wasn't much else she could threaten her with, not that she even understood her, anyway. But, Ivy was getting tired of Pansy doing everything in her power to try to pull her own mittens off or kick off her boots. Threatening to take away her favourite thing may just get her to stop fussing so much.
It seemed as though the threats worked, at least to a bit of an extent, as Pansy seemed to calm down slightly. Glancing down to see if she was okay, Ivy noticed her staring down somebody at the end of the aisle. And that somebody was staring back. Rolling her eyes, Ivy scoffed, "Never seen a screaming baby before? Take a picture, it'll last longer."
"Oh no, I have seen a screaming baby before and it once more confirms for me that I will not be having any children," Lucinda chuckled at the sight of the woman in front of her. Frustrated was probably the right emotion to call it but she was not sure yet. The blonde never had been one who liked kids very much, she never had hidden that fact either but whenever she came across screaming children, she was even more sure about it. Not even if it was the baby of a former house mate and someone she regarded as close.
