Hello!

I just wanted to break my silence long enough to explain why I’m gone from tumblr

A few people have been wondering where I have been so I feel like I owe the people who care a lil explanation. A lot has happen on social media that has put a very bitter taste in my mouth and I feel like I’m too hurt, too emotional right now to be able to react in a reasonable and nice way and I don’t think anyone deserves to see that. This is why I’m also distancing myself from twc, the fandom exhausted me and I need some space. Idk if I’ll ever be back but either way, thank you to the people that have supported me throughout this very interesting journey. 

Until then, I will be posting my art in a place where it’s healthier for me, and hopefully will heal from this!

50. What are some motifs associated with your character?

I had to google this one too x) I guess the beret is a motif? Representing her trauma and bad cooping mechanisms, her wearing the beret reflects how she is still burdened by her past. Another motif is the colors red and green, which represent respectively Minette and Nate, the colors show up more and more as they get closer together. There’s also the fairy tale story motif that shows up a lot, I mean, of course it does, Nate is The Prince Charming xD the story of Cinderella gets hinted at a lot: her apartment being filled with clocks, Nate having to go out of his way to get with Minette, her leaving stuff in his pockets whenever he lends her clothes, etc. I’m not sure if I answered the question properly xD

49. What are some themes tied to your character’s story?

Oh god, I had to research it xD I guess the biggest one would be Overcoming Fears and Weaknesses, it would tie into her own past trauma and how is she still growing into her best self. By the end of the books she will have overcome all her anxieties... hopefully... Her relationship with Nate falls more into the Companionship as Salvation trope, but in a way where they both believe that this relationship will “save” them from their struggles but they soon find out that even though they can be there for each others, their problems don’t just go away and they need to take things into their own hands, relationship or not. Nate is the one that will suffer most form this for sure. 

51. What were some inspirations for your character (people, movies, games)?

This is just going to be a long list of characters I like xD Cruella De Vile and Edna Mode were big inspirations for her fashion style as well as the traits she inherited from her grandmother. Madame Adelaine Bonfamille from the Aristocats and Grandma Tala from Moana inspired her kinder and more approachable side. Fran Fine from The Nanny was the biggest inspiration for her I think, on all aspects of her personality though she ended up much sweeter and tamer. Gomez Addams was also a big inspiration for her and her love life though as the books come out I think she might be a lot more like Morticia while Nate is more like Gomez. But overall, I think she just became her own character at this point xD

36. What are they like as a partner?

She is pretty caring. She likes to give affectionate gestures (cheek kisses, hugs…), and little attentions. She wants her special someone to be at ease and comfortable with her.

I’m awful to choose song for my ocs ahah but a song that I associate to Nelly are these two

47. What was this character’s biggest turning point in their life, something that changed them almost completely?

The biggest turning point is when she decided to join the Wayhaven PD. Nelly likes the fashion word, and wanted to be a stylist, but she also really wanted to help people. The choice was difficult for her, but in the end, she decided to stay in Wayhaven and enter the police department.

47. What was this character’s biggest turning point in their life, something that changed them almost completely?

Wow, am I really going to drop a bit of Minette’s backstory here on tumblr for the first time?? I guess so.

When Minette was 20 years old, she lost her best friend at the time, Madeleine. It changed everything for her, from the way she views relationships and ambitions to her own family dynamic. This is the main reason why she is now in Wayhaven.

30. What was adolescence like?

Wild... Minette was even more chaotic than she is now xD, she was known as a trouble maker and a light menace to her teachers. She was always very sweet and kind though, even while she pulled a prank or broke the rules so it was very hard for anyone to be mad at her for too long. Her granny was very proud of her because of that, she often said “A Mercier follows no rules nor principals other than their own!”. Despite that, she was surprisingly shy and toned down compared to her friends even more so when it came to sharing about her life at home or her family.    

35. What are they like as a friend?

Her highest stat is her friendliness so needless to say, she is very warm and welcoming. She is always supportive and available for both the good and bad times. Though when it comes to certain topics she is no longer as loud or as lively or actually there as she usually is (she is that one fair weather friend). She is a huge gossip and often forgets boundaries but always stops and steps back when asked to do so. She is distant despite her being the extroverted person she appears as. She never comes to her own problems she never shares unless it can somehow aid her into figuring them out herself, she likes to deal with these things on her own. She’s also extremely teasing and a jokester at heart never really quite knowing when she has gone too far.

18. Have any special keepsakes?

Apart from her beret, Minette actually holds on to her grandmother’s second wedding band. It’s way too big for her so she either has it on her night stand or in her inner pocket of her beret, yes it has a small pocket, yes she sewed it herself x). It reminds her of France and her grandmother and in a way, helps her believe that there’s someone out there for her, or like 5 people, like her granny xD. Otherwise she likes to steal one sock from every person she gets close to and never really mentions it to them. She hides the mismatched socks among her own clothes, which will make an interesting conversation topic when Nate finds his long lost green sock between two of her shirts.

39. Your character walks into a café. What do they order?

Minette doesn’t have a usual order, she likes to change it every other week. But it’s always some kind of coffee with a lot of sugar and milk and a pastry, jelly filled most of the time.
