âWeâre not all bad, promise,â Lara tried making the situation better, but it kinda didnât seem like Lucky was going to believe what she said anyways considering how the party had gone. She took the drink from Lucky, taking a sip before leaning in to hear whatever story he was about to tell her. âItâs not even that my relationship is comfortable, itâs just that I donât even think heâd miss me if we broke up tomorrow and that fact is horrifying to me.â Lara took a long sip of her drink, wishing she hadnât said that out loud. It was the first time sheâd ever said it to anyone, and she guessed she was glad it was Lucky. They werenât really friends so he couldnât psychoanalyze her all that well yet. âThat makes sense about you, though. Youâre too hot not to be semi damaged goods. Again, no offense. Please donât give Callie some stupid write off because Lara is kinda drunk.âÂ
âWell, even if you are, itâll make work a helluva lot more fun,â he laughed. Sipping his drink, Lucky gave a sigh at Laraâs true feelings -- that wasnât the easiest to hear, especially since he barely knew the girl, but he liked to think he could help somehow. âIf he doesnât miss you, then itâs clear that he doesnât know what heâs missing out on,â he offered. It was an awfully cliche line, but it made sense in his head. âWow, thanks!â he laughed out loud at her unintentional jab. âOh, donât worry, Iâll just take that backhanded compliment in more of the âcomplimentâ way than the backhanded way, youâre fine.âÂ
