the poll isn't over yet, but i had no clue that so few of y'all kept a lot of ao3 tabs open😭

i thought that having dozens of tabs open for fics that you're not finished with yet, but still want to continue one day was normal.

i have SEVENTY tabs open. ALL of them are ao3, and 55 of them are fics i want to finish reading and the other fifteen are tabs for certain tag combinations that i want to look through.

do people not do this?

the duality of gabv1el fics is crazy. it's either the most heart-wrenching piece of literature about hatred and obsession, how gabriel let go of all his former values as an archangel and came to love the very thing that unmade him, and how v1 will soon lose the one thing it came to cherish and slowly die a painful death of starvation. or its like, "haha funny gopro and angel do kinky, masochistic wireplay."

i feel like as similar as stratt in the book and movie are, they're still SO different. i noticed that i almost classify the two as different characters in my brain, which i don't really do for any of the other main phm characters.

stratt is so much more kind and humane in the movie. shes still the very badass and powerful woman she was in the book, but she's so much sweeter and more likable.

book stratt was lowkey an asshole. she got what she needed to get done, used her unbelievable amount of power responsibly, and was an important piece in the project, but occasionally she was a bit of a jerk and had the "you can't do this to me, i'm saving the world" mindset.

I will say that i did LOVE a few of these op stratt moments in the book. like that one scene where she was facing supreme court about her abuse of power in downloading literally every single recorded but of information and media across history. (i was a bit upset that wasn't in the movie. she was SO badass.) but, occasionally she just used her saving the world as an excuse for being an asshole. grace had to shut her down for this once.

stratt never seemed to have this mindset in the movie. i also noticed she put a lot more care into sending grace out into space. she gave him a personal belongings pack, which he never got in the book.

but i love both versions of stratt so very much. shes such a complex character and i hold a very special place in my heart for her. she was deadass one of my female role models as i grew into my teen years.
