the best fanfiction you've ever read was written by a woman in her 40s before she made dinner for her kids. it was written by a teenager after school when they should've been studying for a history test. and a barista came up with the idea while they cleaned the espresso machine and busser fact-checked it on their break and the post-doc edited between writing grant proposals and the nurse apologized for typos in the notes after a long shift and behind every drabble and one-shot and multi-chapter fic there is a person with a wonderful and interesting and chaotic life and it is such a privilege that we get to be a part of it because they decided to do this thing we all share, for fun.
the rise of conservatism and gen z puritanism while still simultaneously trying to be hip and woke is so annoying because you have these people saying "match my freak" and then they get mad at ageplay and petplay and cnc and somno and anything raunchier than a pair of fuzzy handcuffs. you're not a "freak" if you think having a fetish is synonymous with being evil

i was invited to once again do a piece for the dndads pride zine, and i spent about 2 hours in a panic with no idea what to do. and then i was struck by inspiration and knew exactly what i wanted to do. so go buy the zine and then you can see this piece in the real life whaow!

thinking about lark oak and the rogue card again. thinking about that fic idea i had where terry jr is a wizard and trains and gets to be a high enough level to cast wish. thinking about if lark would want him to cast it. of course cutting out the infection would be good but can anything regrow? anger hurts but is it worse than indifference? because at that point it's been years of this slowly festering resentment. and that's why it's so painfully perfect that it's lark. anyone else would either not care one way or the other, or have so much love for henry that it would be immediately obvious and they would do everything they can to fix it. but lark being angry makes sense! he was already like that, the card just amplified it. the foundation was already rotting. take out the anger and what's left? it's not lark oak.
