To finally break the bond - a spell

This is a very gentle, non-aggressive spell to help you break the bond with someone who meant a lot to you, whose relationship with you is now over but the closure is still needed.

Gather the following:

🌹Paper

🔪Envelope (you can create your own with paper, it doesn’t need to be fancy)

🌹Pen

🔪Blue candle: communication, truth, peace, calm, understanding

🌹Yellow candle: manifesting thoughts, used in rituals when it’s needed to convince someone, or gain their trust

🔪Jasmine: promotes peace, repels fights, protects from external influences.

🌹Sigil, I’ll be using one that I created. It’s for “wish you the best, now get out”

1. Light the blue candle with intent, imagine everything you do and say, they’ll notice.

2. Now light the yellow one, imagine they notice that you’re officially out of their lives.

3. Press the jasmine, put it in a big book, and put books over that one.

4. Now write the sigil on a paper, you can write other stuff too but make it as positive as you can. We don’t wanna curse or make the other person get a bad vibe from us, we just want closure and for them to notice we’re gone.

5. Grab the jasmine and tape it to the paper, it can be over the sigil, if you’re a closeted witch you can cover the sigil and it’ll just look like a pretty envelope with a pressed flower.

6. Now put the paper in the envelope and seal it with both candles, pour wax from one, then the other, and keep doing this until you feel closure is basically happening. Until you’re okay with the fact that they won’t come back. This takes a lot of meditating and intent, so make sure you don’t rush the spell!

7. Put the envelope in your windowsill at night, preferably on a night of full moon (magic, cleansing, banishing, clarity) and let it sit there until you wake up. You’ll wake up feeling renewed, and lighter. You don’t have this burden anymore!

witch tip:

if you are holding on to anger towards someone (especially a person who is no longer in your life), sit in a quiet place, burn your favorite incense, and write that person a letter.  write down every single thought and emotion you feel towards that person. when you are done, burn the letter in a cauldron or fireproof bowl.  as you burn it, repeat out loud “you no longer have power in my life” until the letter has turned to ash.  collect the ash and use it to make black salt.

A very valuable lesson for witches young and old alike.

Pro tip from someone who used to suggest this technique all the time - if this is all you’re doing to release the anger and resentment, it’s gonna come back to you. Maybe not in regards to the same person, maybe it’ll be some new situation, but… it’ll come back. I’m talking from experience here.

Take another step with this. Before burning it, reread the letter and for every item, every point you make - ask yourself, can I truly release this, or is there something from them I still want?

Then … dig. If there’s something you still want from them, there’s a need in your soul to be met.

I want an apology. Because I want acknowledgement that they realized they hurt me. Because I want it to matter to them that they hurt me. I want to matter to them. I want to matter.

This just being an example, but the idea is to find the root feeling and then you’ve got something to actually work on, which is finding a way to fill that void WITHOUT them. In the example up there, it could be building yourself intrinsic reward pathways, finding ways to love yourself enough that you don’t need external validation.

Do the work. THEN burn the paper, to release anything that your soul said you were ready to release, and to release THEIR bond on anything that you weren’t. You’re on the path to healing yourself, and burning the connection is still a very brilliant way to empower yourself in this process.

I don’t often reblog spells, because my following is fairly eclectic and different things have different meanings for those on different paths (plus I don’t wanna teach any newbie witches following me to just follow a recipe). But this has its roots in psychology, a more universal symbolism, and a lot of more basic and universal components of magic.

This spell. From newbie witches to the experienced— this spell, it’s a perfect example of putting the work into your spell, allowing the spell to ENHANCE your work instead of expecting it to warrant a miracle on its own. It’s not intrinsically tied to one path, it’s rather simple, has few materials, and it WILL help your results. This is a spell you should know.

“to be a witch” falsehoods

there are a lot of misconceptions going around lately on what someone needs to be a witch, i just want to clear some up. 

you do not need:

fancy tools - or any tools at all, really. all you need is yourself and your intent. sure, tools that fit your aesthetic are nice, but you don’t need them. if you have the ability to buy and you want to, there’s no stopping you, but please don’t feel like you have to go out and buy yourself an etsy broom or a cauldron. and don’t stress yourself out over making one either! they are but trappings.

appearance - in witchy aesthetic photos, it’s usually a slim, white girl with long hair. and that lack of a more diverse representation can give the impression that you need to look and be a certain way, but please know it is untrue. it does not matter what your race, weight, hair, or anything looks like. 

aesthetic - you don’t need to dress “like a witch”. a witch can look like anything. if you want to indulge in the black cat, black clothes look, fine, but you don’t need to confine yourself to it if it’s not your thing, you can look like whatever you want to. 

gender - there are some in the community that will fight tooth and nail to make it seem you have to be a cis female to call yourself a witch. don’t listen to those terfs. anyone can be a witch, regardless of gender. male, non-binary, agender, trans, demi, etc. 

black cat - you don’t need a black cat. you don’t need to have a familiar either. those are unique relations that should not be forced to happen

dark, mystical attitude - you don’t need to suddenly start talking like chaucer or put effort into having an air of mystery. you don’t need to be holier than thou, or act like you know it all. witchcraft is a journey that takes time to learn. 

cursing - no, you don’t need to curse. but you don’t need to shame someone for cursing either.

on a spiritual path - witchcraft does not have to be spiritual! you can practice magic without having to worry about being “spiritual enough”, because each craft is unique and deeply personal, you don’t need to force it to be something that you’re not invested in.

religious -  there are many witches that wonder where the power comes from if they don’t call upon a god. the power can come from you. you do not need to devote yourself to a god 

wiccan - wicca is not the only way to do witchcraft, it is only one way of practicing magic. there are many people who think the only way to do witchcraft is to be wiccan, but they are misinformed. if you do not want to work with wiccan influences or traditions, you do not have to. 

initiated - some practices, some traditions, initiation is needed. however, to be a witch in general, you don’t need to go through any ritual to prove yourself one. be wary of those who insist you do, they are often trying to take advantage of new witches. 

straight/cis - some traditions you’ll encounter have homophobic roots/influences. while it is discouraging, you dont have to listen to those, or you can work with others to rework phobic traditions

a “natural” witch -  some people will claim to have “witch’s blood” or “the flame”, meaning witchcraft has been in their families for generations. this does not make them superior or more of a witch than you. anyone who wants to be a witch can, no matter their birth circumstances. 

labelled - a lot of witches label their craft, “herb witch”, “space witch”, “storm witch” etc. you can be as many as you want, or none if it pleases you. you do not need to label your craft however. some people can’t put their craft in a box.

✨Luna’s All-Purpose Magickal Water Recipe💧

This is a recipe that I often use for various purposes in the form of a charged water that can be used as an addition to spells, a wash, etc. 

Ingredients: 

1 fl. oz. of 190 proof ethanol alcohol (think Everclear - acts as a base and a preservative)

2.5 fl. oz. of distilled water (a diluent) 

10 drops of lavender oil (cleansing, peace, relaxation, calming, happiness, attraction, protection)

10 drops of lemon oil (cleansing, happiness, joy, banishing)

10 drops of lime oil (cleansing, protection, peace)

10 drops of orange oil (happiness, joy, attraction, peace, energy, prosperity, luck)

5 drops of dragon’s blood oil (banishing, protection, luck)

5 drops of basil oil (prosperity, success, banishing, luck)

Instructions: 

Add all ingredients to a dark glass container (the dark glass will help preserve the mixture even further) 

Close and shake well

Store in the refrigerator or in a cool, dark place

*Shake well before using*

Uses: 

Use as a floor or window wash

Add a few drops to spell jars or sachets

Add to bath water 

Use to cleanse, consecrate, and anoint magickal tools

Use to anoint candles (allow to dry before lighting the candle as the ethanol in this recipe is flammable)

Use to wash your hands before spellwork 

Use to wipe down and cleanse your altar or sacred space

Sprinkle on your doorstep to invite positive energy and prosperity into your home - alternately, to banish negative energy from entering your home

Anoint your wallet to encourage the flow of income

Use to “paint” symbols of your choice on the outside of doors and windows or other areas of your home

Dab some on the insides of your wrists after a shower or bath for personal success, luck, and protection

Use as an offering to your deities if the ingredients are appropriate for said deity 

Carefully and discreetly sprinkle some outside of the location of a potential employer for luck when applying for jobs or going for interviews 

Use as a spray to cleanse and invite peaceful and positive energy to a space

This recipe truly is “all purpose” and can be used for many, many things. Use as you see fit for your particular situation!

Things to do to celebrate Ostara

Okay. I know, I know. Ostara is like… What’s that? 18 days away? Well maybe some people are still basking in the glow of Imbolc. But I missed Imbolc because I had a heck ton on my mind. So I am so excited for Ostara! I’m hoping that our Canadian weather relaxes a little bit with the snow by Ostara so I can spend some time outside. So here are a few things that I’ll probably be doing to celebrate!

🌿 Wildlife Photography

So I’m not really that big on photography, but it’s a fun thing to do to capture nature’s beauty. I’ve only tried photography a couple of times, and I like it, so I’m probably going to try it again sometime soon.

🌿 Cooking a big meal

So I plan on cooking up a whole lot of food to celebrate. After doing some research I found out that a popular food for Ostara is eggs! So I’m not really a fan of eggs. I can’t stand boiled eggs, omelettes are okay, quiches are… meh. But a while ago I tried making Japanese cheesecake off a recipe I found online. It requires so much eggs, whites and yolks! So I’ll probably make some of that. Maybe I’ll also make so fish and some sort of salad to represent the blooming of vegetables.

🌿 Going Outside

This one’s simple. Just get your ass outside and enjoy it. Have fun breathing in the smell of fresh spring and noticing every sprout and bloom. Talk to some trees and plants if you so wish.

🌿 Gardening

Do some gardening! Plant some plants. I’m sure your garden, as mine, will need some replanting, weeding, and mulching after a long and cold winter.

🌿 Music

So this one’s a bit strange. Music? Why? Well, music has always represented a sort of flow for me. And that’s what spring is all about for me… Don’t ask me why. Try an instrument, and come up with some simple and nice melodies. It’s good for charging, cleansing, and magick in general.

🌿 Cleanse.

By cleanse, I don’t just mean cleanse the energy because I’m sure everyone already does that anyway. I mean… get ready… Spring Cleaning! Yes, everyone loves spring cleaning… right? But seriously, get cleaning. Trust me, after all that clutter’s gone, you’ll be so much happier. A good idea is to reorganize your Grimoire/Book of Shadows (mine is a binder which makes that easy) and your altar. Organize your herbs and plants and books and basically I’m repeating myself.

get the fuck away from me spell

this is a basic and powerful banishment spell to keep a toxic, malicious person from influencing you, affecting your world, and attempting to hurt you. best done during a waning moon. you will need:

> black pepper (banishment, protection from evil)

> cloves (banishing hostile and negative forces)

> vinegar (banishing, binding, and averting evil)

> black and white candle

> paper and pen with black ink

> a jar with a lid

1. as you light your candles, recognize that the flame creates an aura of fire, will and strength. the black candle burns and summons protection from evil; the white candle burns and brings you cleansing and purifying. meditate on the flames and allow their warm auras to surround you.

2. write the person’s full name (if it’s known) on a small piece of paper. hold the paper in your hands and let yourself feel angry, hurt, sad, or whatever this person makes you feel. charge the paper with the pain this person has caused you, until you feel done. then, take your pen and scribble out the person’s name until it’s completely blacked out and opaque.

3. fold the paper up as many times as you can, and throw it in the jar. sprinkle the pepper and cloves over the paper, then fill the jar with vinegar. this mixture banishes their evil from you and drowns out their will and power to harm you. close the jar tightly. if you wish, use some black wax from your candle to drip onto the lid and seal the jar shut.

4. place your banishment jar in a dark, hidden place, like the bottom drawer of a dresser or the corner of a closet. keep it forever, or until you feel its purpose is fulfilled.
