oh god strap in. august 2015 phil was heading to manchester for a school reunion with some friends (not his official reunion! just a hang with school friends) when a fan spotted him running at euston train station (which is strange bc...phil running lol) phannies trended #whyisphilrunning as a joke (x). later on someone adds that he was actually crying at the station (he probably wasn't but you know...phannies)

phil responds hours after

except shortly after that dan starts tweeting stuff like this. so people are concerned that phil's left and dan's home alone tweet concerning things (which wasn't the most uncommon thing for dan back in the day. we aren't lying when we say dan used to be Extremely open with his emotions and you knew when he was having a bad day)

dan then followed it up the next day with these replies and this tweet

that day phil confirms he's at the unofficial reunion and later makes a video about it mentioning #whyisphilrunning (0:57)

EXCEPT it turns out that dan ended up coming with phil on the trip (but the fan didn't spot him) so the assumption is that he turned around and went to get dan/waited for dan to come to the station because phil didn't get on a train when the fan saw him and also later in the liveshow phil said he and dan took the train together to manchester (x)

phil talks about the reunion in his liveshow (2:17) where he also confirmed dan went with him (8:01) because dan's friends with a lot of the manchester people as well. and then talks about the hashtag again (15:47)

i love when something huge happens in a fandom you aren’t a part of it’s like hearing a loud eruptive cheer from the apartment next to you and you can hear the music and the sounds of the party muffled through the wall and you aren’t sure what they’re celebrating but you’re happy for them.
