Tw: Mention of death threats.
We've been getting lots of death threats and frankly stupid comments on tumblr lately. Only this site, interestingly. Chloe let things like this slide. I will not. This is the last address to hate on this website. For our own safety we will not read it, we will not share it. You will be blocked and deleted from the first slur or threat. We are abuse survivors. Even if we weren't, we do NOT have to take abuse from you, no matter the circumstances.
There's a difference between being kind and understanding, and just letting people trash you. We've learnt that no matter what we do, no matter how open we are, how sensetive, people will say we are the scum of the earth, make hate blogs, spread lies and deliberately trigger and threaten us. We are still learning. We obviously do not know everything - how could we? - and own that completely. Constructive criticism we accept and welcome. We are people. We are doing what we do because we WANT to help. We are not a company or a machine. If you are here to damage our systems morale or degrade our work efforts you have no place here.
If you want to make helpful suggestions and provide honest, considerate feedback to help us educate people or to help us understand a situation better, we are all ears. As long as you are respectful, we appreciate hearing your experiences and what you have to say, and will make alterations.
Throwing hate at us does NOTHING except show that you're incapable of communicating and have underlying issues you haven't dealt with. That's not productive for either party.
People are also astounded and confused by thumbnails and basic marketing. Although unpleasant this isn't necessarily hate and is seperate from the above, which generally pertains to death threats and intentional triggering, I wanted to comment.
Two people (probably the same person) recently told us we were casting a "dangerous light on the community" by using a "clickbait" thumbnail of Steven Universe, "plastering "am I a fusion? " everywhere"" and told us to "clean up our act". This is obviously regarding our last video. They also threw in a little comment about ad revune which is especially rich (pun intended) as ALL revenue on that video goes to Cartoon Network, who air Steven Universe.
We knew this would happen if we used the clip of the show, as it's copyrighted content. It was not necessary to use the clip, as it could be explained verbally. We used the clip anyway because it's dynamic and makes the subject easier to understand - especially for visual learners - and because we make this content to educate and help people. There's no other reason. That goal never changed.
This video has a long clip of the Steven Universe episode "Alone Together", when Stevonnie fuse. It involves me using editing to explain the ways fusion is similar to integration, in terms of identity confusion, a change of name, different physical appearance, two sets of memories, two individuals becoming a new person while also retaining parts of their previous selves, and also explaining why fusion is not an exact or perfectly accurate representation of Integration. It's a creative comparison and has helped a lot of people, especially those without DID or OSDD, to understand how it works.
This is not clickbait, its literally what the video is about, and that's what it tells people it will be about. It's very basic labelling and marketing. It's not plastered everywhere, it's the title and thumbnail of one video. If you don't understand how social media advertising and algorithms work, don't try to shame us and use a limited understanding as an excuse to leave patronising, blatantly untrue and unkind comments.
This video was one of 3 ways we've explained integration and has been the most successful. If you want to explain things in your own way, or prefer to watch someone else instead, go ahead! There are lots of DID & OSDD YouTubers out there, and we need more. Despite the amount of advocates out there we are aware that due to our place in the public eye, we represent the community to some extent. We will continue to educate in a way that is creative, easily understandable, scientific, and that we know works. Remember that we cite our sources in our Debunking DID videos to ensure there's no misinformation. It's all scientifically based with links to the studies, books and journals that prove it.
Thank you so much to everyone who supports us so strongly. It really makes a difference to our lives and shows us we are doing the right thing. We are here to listen to you, but we also need to listen to ourselves and respect our own boundaries and abilities. To reiterate: This is the last address to hate on this website. For our own safety we will not read it, we will not share it. You will be blocked and deleted from the first slur or threat. Thanks for reading, and for all your support!

I came back to tumblr to follow @dissociadid and I am so proud of their strength and accomplishments. I am an emotional wreck today but honestly they make me feel valid and whole and safe. I know my blog has been barren and I know it’s bookish but everyone needs a reminder sometimes that hate is not okay. You don’t have to read it. You don’t have to deal with it. No matter what is happening in your life you are worth blocking out the negativity and surrounding yourself with positive vibrations. As Chloe always said “Lots of love, everybody.” I’m going to go cry now because I just love this system so dang much.
