It was David who said it to him first.

“You look good today,” on a day where Matteo didn’t feel good enough to be himself, let alone to be with anyone else. The smallest affirmation, but it carried Matteo through standing with him at the sink, talking to him, nearly kissing him.

And now, now, he gets to kiss David all the fucking time, so of course that’s good. He can nudge David awake because, finally, Matteo wants to be awake again. He can talk to David whenever he wants, about anything at all. He can just be himself, because as David affirmed, that person is good.

They’re so fucking good together, and Matteo will say it, because he knows it’s important to acknowledge that kind of thing out loud.

So when David asks him if a choice he’s unsure about is bad, the answer is a resounding no. Whatever David decides, as long as he’s still David, he’s fucking good.

“You’re good the way you are.”

“You’re not that shitty either.”

A bit of an asshole, maybe, but that’s good too.
