#TarotAdLib Day 28 - Feb 28, 2018: Party

Firstly, a most happiest of birthdays to @tarotprose. You are such a blessing and most wonderful person. Granted, I have only known you a short while, but you have made me feel very welcome in the tarot community, and your wisdom, grace, and kindness is something I hope to emulate one day. Thank you for sharing your witchery on social media, and thank you for being you. May you have a beautiful year that gives you contentment, peace, and more magic!

GDG was made for a prompt like this. And this card jumped out as I shuffling. Queen of Pentacles and Queen of Cups are Queens who I find more ... relatable. (I’ve only drawn Queen of Swords once so I can’t say I know her yet.). But this Queen - she keeps on following me despite that she and I aren’t very alike in goals or personality. (We own cats, and that seems to be our major bond.)

This caught my attention on biddy tarot: “This Queen is a natural-born, intelligent leader who actively inspires others. She can be quite the ‘mover and shaker,’ influencing others through her vision, courage and determination. She instils confidence within you and gives you the power and self-assurance that you can achieve anything that you set your mind to.”

A thought occurred to me. She is like Emma Woodhouse (of the Jane Austen novel, and for those of you who don’t read Regency literature, Cher from the film Clueless is based on her). For while Emma can be flawed (a gossip, ego-centric, careless with other people’s feelings), Emma at heart, at her very best, gathers her friends and community together. When she is at her best, she encourages others to see beyond their limits. True, her intentions can be misguided, but she makes passive people active. Their activeness in turn inspires and pushes her in unexpected directions. So it’s a beautiful ying-yang where the patron and artist both grow and inspire each other.

So I guess at this party I would be the person who makes sure you have the best food and drinks and that everything is set up. I might be the most awkward conversationist but I would make sure the party is set to go, so everybody can enjoy themselves at ease. What people take away from the party is up to them, but I would at least hope they left knowing that I wanted them to have a grand time, whether they hid in a corner and observed everything or if they got out and dance floor and Astaired-Rogered their way to the party’s end.
