I love the idea of Rocky extending Grace’s lifespan to Eridian levels without telling him

I have this headcanon that eridians have soulmates that they can recognized by a specific song or melody.

For the eridian culture which sound and songs are so important, they have this idea that if you find all your soulmates (platonic or romantic) you can create an harmony with their songs, an harmony unique for each eridian.

For Rocky is easy to know that Adrian is the one, because their mere presence, the way they move and sing is just right, it is the melody that Rocky had been chasing since he knew about soulmates. After finding his romantic soulmate Rocky - thinking that there was no way that the song that Adrian produced could be better- assumes that he was destinate to only have a romantic soulmate and that his harmony is already complete.

It isn't until he is deep in the space, far away from Adrian and everything he has known, that Rocky discovers that the hearbeat of Grace turns to be another piece of his harmony.

When they get to Erid and Rocky is able to present his platonic soulmate to his romantic one he can finally hear the harmony that he didn't know he was longing for.

When Graces dies, so does the harmony. Rocky can still rememeber his hearbeat, he has perfect memory, he is able to recreated in his mind, but is just not the same.

For anybody not caught up: Tennessee just passed a new map that pretty much makes it so black neighborhoods have no power in local votes. Two things about this. While protestors were chanting "No Jim Crow", white Tennessee lawmakers were caught laughing on video. On top of this, Representative Justin Pearson and his brother KeShaun Pearson were arrested for trying to give their takes on the matter (which is not only their legal right but literally his job). If you give a shit about black people, help fight this. We can't allow a return to Jim Crow.

Additional information: State lawmakers have been gunning for Pearson and Jones nearly their entire terms. Most notably, in 2023, the House expelled them for participating in a protest at the Capitol. Their districts had to have special elections to have them reinstated.

Pearson is one of the plaintiffs of a lawsuit seeking an injunction against the redistricting.

The city most affected by the redistricting is Memphis, where locals are fighting against xAI's data center, which has been operating with very little oversight and is poisoning the people who live there. Here is a previous post on that with more information and more sources.

Human remains discovered by a hiker in a northern New Mexico national forest last week have been identified as Melissa Casias, a Los Alamos

The most plausible explanation for these deaths and disappearances is Russian assassins. Russia has a history of doing this in Europe to weaken the military industrial complex of NATO members. Further Trump and his sycophants have leaked much sensitive information to Putin’s Russia.

I love a post-canon Garashir scenario where Garak has been in love with Julian for so long that it's just the background noise of his life -- he loves him, it's awful if he drinks too much and thinks too hard about it, but for the most part he's accepted that their lives and paths are too divergent for anything to come of it, he will take Julian being in his life in whatever capacity is possible because Cardassia is his north star, his first love, his mother and his father all in one

and then you have post-canon, post-war, post traumatic stress disorder Julian who finally downloads back into his body and his emotions after the war and is like, "well fuck me, guess the reason I've been avoiding Garak for three years is because if I thought with even one more brain cell about our relationship, I'd have figured out we're in love"

and decides it is INTOLERABLE for them to be apart any longer and Garak is just like, "hmmmm what?" while Julian is like "WE ARE GETTING MARRIED RIGHT NOW" as Garak is attempting to figure out what the fuck the rush is, it's been nine state-forsaken years

Current Fic Ideas

I just finished the fic I have been working on for weeks, and I am in a position I haven’t been in for a while, where I’m ready to start something new. (Going from mainly one-shots to mainly multi-chapter fics is a change my brain and process are still adjusting to.) My current list of outlines includes…

The Wire, but Garak has amnesia after the implant is removed and has to try and figure out what’s going on and what he’s supposed to be doing, without asking anyone because he knows he will have lied to them. Unfortunately, this means re-learning that Tain has had him exiled. Did Tain purposefully in some way arrange this when giving Bashir the medical information? Undecided.

A redo of my one-shot fic “Mirror, Mirror.” With that one-shot as the first chapter, it’s a longer story about Mirror!Bashir, who is experiencing synaptic degradation and wants Julian to cure him. Mirror!Bashir was genetically engineered as part of medical experimentation by the Alliance. Julian attempts to cure him, but the situation puts Julian in danger because nobody knows that Julian is also an augment. Explorations of nature vs nurture and how far Julian will go to save a patient who is also himself.

At the end of Season 5, Starfleet evacuates Deep Space 9. Garak joins them, because he asks and Sisko says yes. What if he had to go through a more formal process of requesting asylum, and was rejected? What would he have to do in order to escape with the Federation? …. It’s a garashir fake marriage fic.

The next installment in my Terok Nor AU, taking place when Terok Nor is becoming Deep Space 9.

There’s also a story I have been working on for a while that I get stuck on routinely, and I can’t promise that will ever see the light of day. It involves Garak getting injured in a way he won’t admit, and I struggle with tonal consistency between hurt/comfort and more mystery/investigation, and what order chapters should be in for a more or less chronological experience.

you'll say "i think children shouldn't be forced to eat food they hate" and here comes someone who feeds their kids plain rice and boiled chicken (while eating a nicely seasoned stirfry) claiming that it's okay actually and kids shouldn't be allowed to taste things

you'll say "i think kids should have bodily autonomy" and in comes someone who pierced their babies ears before it was even 24 hours old, frothing at the mouth because their kid wanted a haircut and thats somehow an insult
