So, apparently, there are some people complaining online about Gambit wearing a crop top because it makes him look gay.
Okay, first of all, crop tops were a thing in the 80s and 90s. Many men wore them, gay or straight. It was a part of fashion. Second of all, who cares?! Gambit looks cool wearing one! He's a sexy, bad@$$ character. Of course, he'd wear a crop top!
I was not expecting this or for it to hit me so hard

So, X-Men 97 season 2....
*SPOILERS*
While this season had some great moments with some characters and some cool action and story moments, the pacing was rough and felt like there wasn't a lot compared to season 1. There's SO many characters that didn't get much here like Sunspot for example, who's just there. After his arc in season one, he's been delegated to Jubilee's boyfriend. There are also others who do get their moment only to be put aside and not be given anything else. Like, Storm, Forge, Beast, and many others.
Apocalypse is a well-known X-Men villain, so many were looking forward to seeing him. The buildup was great during the first four episodes, which were the best episodes to me, but then it just stopped while coming back every now and then cause the show focused on other things that most of it didn't had to do with Apocalypse. There should've been more muti-parters, but 9 episodes isn't gonna help with that. It felt like Bastion had better buildup as the main villain back in season one. And, how he went out felt pretty anticlimactic from what we had previously. It kinda made Rogue a deus ex machina in the season finale. I dunno if it's just me but that's how I felt about it.
It's likely because of the pacing and the small amount of episodes they had for this season. If they were longer or this season had more episodes, it might've felt more of a full season. Seriously, slow down the pacing a bit, and have more episodes per season! Stop resorting to making comics on major things in the show when you could just put them in the show! And, please respect the continuity of the 90s show. You're a sequel to said show, so remember what happened in it!
Overall, I've been pretty let down by this season. It's probably just me, but it just feels like that. Sorry to anyone who loved this season, I just can't.
Maybe season 3 will be better since we're getting that next year. I know that Beau DeMayo, the previous showrunner, had written this season, but I wondered if his writing or the revisions that were overseen by one of the writers of the What If...? show are one of the reasons why this season felt fast. I'm a bit worried though, cause I wasn't a fan of What If...? and how it was handled (mostly because it turned into the Captain Carter show), and he's gonna be replacing DeMayo for Season 3 and 4. So, I guess we'll see how much of a difference the next season will be. But, if it isn't good, it's probably best not to think about X-Men 97 and that the series finale on the 90s X-Men show is where it ends.

Okay, gotta push through this before I start crying again. I guess screw X-Corp, cause everyone's back in the academy. And, Rogue and Gambit keeping Kurt's bible was sweet, and Remy's wearing his crop top again. Kurt's speech was really something, and him saying he has faith? Honestly, his faith is one of the many things I love about this character. I do understand why he made this sacrifice, it's what Kurt would do. Always putting others over himself, caring for his sister, wanting her to be happy. So, of course, he'd do this. It'll probably be undone in either season 3 or 4, but I just hope nothing undoes the effect of his sacrifice. So, Rogue and Gambit better still be together throughout!
Bishop having a picnic with Polaris? This show is really pushing those two to be together. But, doesn't Bishop need to get back to his timeline now that the Apocalypse threat is over? He still has Shard, her sister, back in the future, so is he gonna go back for her?
Post-credit scene, oh look, Mystique's back! Those who theorized that Mystique was Val in disguise, well you're kinda right. She's gonna NOW disguise herself as Val. God, if she gets in the way of Romy, and if she found out about Kurt and says ANYTHING BAD about him, then f**k that b**ch. Yeah, I wasn't a Mystique fan in the 90s show, so I dunno if 97 will change that. And, Val's dead. Honestly, I don't really have any sympathy for her. Did I want her to die? Not really. Do I feel sad that she died? Not really. Not only that but Creed is now President.....GREAT. JUST FREAKING GREAT! Mystique will pull some crap to make things bad for everybody, and Creed's gonna go on an anti-mutant tirade! *sigh* KURT YOU ARE TOO GOOD FOR THIS WORLD, IT DOESN'T DESERVE YOU!š
Also, why are the Maximoff twins on the file as Mystique's associates? They were never part of the Brotherhood or allies of Magneto. In the 90s show, Magnus didn't even know he had children, let alone Wanda and Pietro. It must've been an easter egg for the Brotherhood's first appearance in the comics, but guys, you gotta maintain the continuity of the 90s show cause this is its sequel.

OH! OH THAT'S WHERE HE WENT! SEEING ESON TO SACRIFICE HIS LIFE FOR HIS SISTER'S.....so that Rogue and Gambit to be together....because he loves them very much.....guys, I'm not okay. I'm freaking bawling, man. He was one of my favourite characters! Was that why he was getting a lot of cool moments?! Cause he was gonna die?! Cool, I got Gambit back, but why it had to be like this?! WHY?!?!

Wait, that's it? THAT'S IT?!?! Okay, I'm gonna rant here, cause I was expecting for there to be more than that. Like, cool Rogue showed up, now she gotta fight her possessed friends while freeing them by using her powers while also showing what kind of power boost she got from Eson. Then she'd fight Apocalypse and there would be a challenge cause I'm pretty sure he would know about Rogue's powers through experience and in Gambit's mind. Then he'd be defeated eventually. But, that's not what happened. Instead, Rogue shows up, knocks everyone out of Apocalypse's control, quickly touches him pulling him out of Gambit and turned him into a jewel button thing.
This....this is pretty anticlimactic. Apocalypse has been built up this season, made a big deal about this being Rogue's final fight, and it's done just like that. I think he lasted for like 3 minutes into this episode. Plus, doesn't this kinda undo the whole prophecy from Mother Askani of Cable being the one to beat Apocalypse? Unless he gets freed somehow, it's actually Rogue who does it and undoes the buildup with him being the one to stop him.
*sigh* But, hey, Gambit is saved, we get a kiss (YAY!) which I'm assuming her power-up lets her kiss Gambit, and they have a nice moment together. Too bad that's not gonna last long cause she gave up her life for him.
Oh, and Beast's back.

Okay, I was gonna freak out at first after seeing Cable shoot Gambit, but we're like two-thirds into the episode so it would be fine. However, I will freak out over Cable just making things worse by shooting Gambit, cause that caused Apocalypse to break free and possess his body! Good freaking job, dumb@$$. Btw, I just realized something. When did Scott get his visor back? Or did he had a spare one in his pocket?
Also, my god, Apocalypse/Gambit fusion is just......no. Just. No. It looks so wrong. Why does Nur keep getting downgrades as Apocalypse when it comes to looks?
My god, Apocalypse REALLY hates Xavier. First killing Magneto in front of him, letting him live as a 'screw you' to him, and now possessing his friends as his minions surrounding Xavier? Guess Nur was still salty back in the past with all the lying and whatnot. š

Y'know, I thought that there was still gonna be tension between Morph and Logan after the Weapon X/Brood episode, but they're still working well together against Psyloche and Archangel. Was that resolved offscreen? Anyway, it's a pretty good fight. I dunno why her psychic knife didn't work, but from what Wolverine said, it might've been from all the times back at Weapon X when they erased his memories? That's my guess. Then there's the battle between Jubilee and Havok. Man, she came a long way cause she had a hard time flying before. Now, she's doing great.
But, my personal favourite is GAMBIT AWAKE AND KICKING X-FACTOR BUTT, HELL YA!!! Also, like that he charged Multiple Man's clones, that was pretty cool. I'm still worried about him cause Apocalypse will get out, and someone will try to kill him.
Then there's the Summers family fight and wow, removing your dad's visor? Really Cable? That's just mean. And, he destroyed the tower. Still up, but destroyed. Yeah, where's Xavier while all of this was going on? What's he doing? And, is X-Corp gonna be rebuilt or is it just now part of the Genosha ruins? It still bugs the hell out of me that Genosha was left ruined and they just build a big tower there.

Oh my god, she tried to punch a Celestial! That's freaking crazy and awesome at the same time. š
So, Eson's willing to give Rogue a chance if she sacrifices herself?! Of course, cause there's a price and life has to thrive through death according to this Celestial. So, does that mean Rogue is gonna die?! WHAT THE HELL!!! So, is Gambit gonna have his arc grieving over Rogue like she did? Man, why can't we have nice things? Well, at least she got a dope outfit. Looks pretty cool.
Btw, wouldn't it make more sense for Polaris to be out there to deal with the Mech-Sentinels considering her abilities? Also, SIRYN?! That's Banshee's daughter! Where did she come from?! I don't remember seeing her in the 90s show nor in the previous season. Guess X-Factor just recruited her to fill in Polaris' spot.
And, hey! Storm's doing something cool.....for like the last time in this season. *sigh* Yeah, Storm doesn't get to do much in this season. Sure, she's now headmistress of the academy now, but ever since episode one where she summoned that solar storm, she doesn't get anymore cool moments cause of all the characters we have. It's a bummer cause she's one of my favourite X-Men characters. But, hey, it seems like Storm X Forge is still going so that's a relief. Although, those two didn't really have much moments together since episode 1 as well....
X-Men 97 season 2 finale episode 9, let's go. *SPOILERS*
So, the intro replaced Magneto and the Brotherhood with Val and X-Factor. Kinda was expecting that.
So, the plan to save Gambit is to find Ship again? I thought Ship was destroyed? Twice! How is it still intact? And, I dunno how Rogue is gonna convince a freaking Celestial to help stop Apocalypse, since he offered Nur the power, but okay.
Honestly, I get that Cable's gotta do what he's gotta do, but I hope Gambit doesn't die for it. We just got him back. š¢ Also wished he didn't have to team up with freaking Val of all people. Like, Val saying she only ever tried to save Xavier and his people from themselves? B***CH YOU ALLIED WITH BASTION WHO PLANNED TO ENSLAVE AND KILL MUTANTS! Plus, all the actions that she's done, don't seem to help mutantkind. Seriously, all because she freed Magneto back in season 1, that absolved all the bad things she did? *sigh* Can we get better human characters please? Ones that are good people? We had Moira, but I'm pretty sure she was one of the victims of the Genosha massacre.
So, you mean to tell me that I gotta get some comic books to understand more of season 2's story when they should've, oh I dunno, PUT IT IN THE SHOW?! Hell, why not make a spinoff that showed what happened between season 1 and 2?!
*sigh* So, Pestilence, who still exists, X-Force vs. Exodus and the Acolytes, and Apocalypse's cult with his heir? Yeah, gotta go read the comics.
The most upsetting thing about Jean and the x-men coming to the mcu is that now whenever I look them up itās just mcu content. Like why am I getting mcu Spiderman when I look up Jean? Get him tf outta here. I honestly hate that sheās now going to be associated with Spiderman especially since mcu Spiderman is lowkey the worst one.
I liked episode 8 but why is everyone and their mother getting new suits and looks but they give Deathbit a recolor with some extra belts.

Like this episode Rouge was in that beautiful dress and had amazing hair, why could they not do the same to Deathbit.
Also they didnāt even refer to him as Death once. I was really hoping they would go all in on this and they didnāt and it just made me a little disappointed.
THANK YOU! Like, why not give us his look that he had in the comics. Hell, Marvel Rivals gave him a new outfit but it looked cool and they kept his long hair.
Where's his long hair, X-Men 97?! You gave Madelyn Pryor her Goblin Queen outfit, so why not Deathbit?!

So, episode 8, while this will be a good episode for the many many Romy shippers, I'm still bummed with how Deathbit was handled. Don't get me wrong, he was great here. Do I hate the episode? No, I think this one was fine. I just wish this could've been longer or be a two-parter to show more Deathbit. This could've had more buildup with him. Instead, he really became the Villain of the Week, when he's supposed to be so much more.
I'm also bummed that there might not be even more Horsemen of the Apocalypse no Onslaught even though many of the elements that lead to Onslaught have been there, but it looks like it might not happen at all.
I'm glad that Apocalypse isn't gone for good yet, cause if he was, all that buildup would've been pointless if there's not a satisfying payoff to it. Plus, with Cable being the one to beat Apocalypse as it's his destiny? That has follow through too, otherwise, what's even the point with that too.
Seriously, Marvel Studios? This needed to have more episodes or longer episodes. Cause we have ONE EPISODE LEFT to resolve the Apocalypse storyline. Apologies if I'm complaining here, but I have to point out the issues this season has compared to the previous season. I wonder if it's because of the firing of Beau DeMayo or if it's company interference.

Huh......okay, that happened. So, Rogue pulled out Gambit's soul thanks to the power of love???? Okay, I think I need someone to explain this to me, but this is what I could figure out so far. Rogue wasn't physically touching Deathbit, but I think with that piece of Apocalypse's power, it connected her soul to Deathbit in a way as she was able to appear in the mind realm and pull Gambit out. Deathbit did say that the piece was to connect Rogue to him forever, so it might be that. However, this only sealed Apocalypse into the soul, so he's not gone. He's still inside Gambit only in a slumber at the moment. But, wouldn't it make more sense if in a last ditch effort, Charles calls to Rogue, and connects her mind to the realm cause he'd know that if he couldn't pull out Gambit, then she would? Or is it just best to use the piece to explain how she was able to do that? Also, she still has that piece. Is that gonna come up later, or not?
Anyway, Gambit is saved at the moment, Nightcrawler is back to normal, no idea what happened to the guilds (they may be dead for all we know but probably not), Jubilee and Sunspot defected back to X-Corp cause what X-Force did was not cool in their eyes, and the remains of X-Force team up with X-Factor cause X-Force needs to kill Apocalypse for good, and Cooper wants to take down X-Corp.....freaking Cooper. Can't just leave well enough alone! Y'know I'm starting to believe she might be Mystique in disguise from all the theories I've been hearing.

Man, to hell with the guilds, Deathbit should've just kept Kurt. Just *POP POP POOF* *POP POP POOF* *POP POP POOF* Brainwashed Nightcrawler whooping EVERYBODY'S @$$E$ I CAN'T EVEN!!! š¤£ Like what is the power-scaling in this show? Did Deathbit give him a powerboost or was Nightcrawler holding back this whole time? What is happening, I can't?! š¤£š¤£š¤£
Oh, I didn't realize that his pole can turn into an energy scythe, that's pretty cool. Now, it's a mind battle with Charles, and he managed to reach Gambit. So, he really is in there, but so is Apocalypse, so thank god he's not dead. But, my god, the writers are really punishing the Cherik shippers. "Beloved Magnus"?! They keep toeing the line over and over. Also, why did Charles stop pulling Gambit out of Deathbit? Yeah, Apocalypse is there, but DUDE! LESS STARING AND CRYING, AND MORE PULLING!!!
Meanwhile, of course, Cable, Archangel, and Psyloche double-crossed the others. Is anyone surprised at this point? They're motive is to stop Apocalypse and if that means killing Deathbit, then so be it.

Okay, first off, NOT KURT BEING BRAINWASHED! š« I mean it makes sense to control him, since he's Rogue's brother and Gambit's friend and will be his future brother-in-law. But, still noooooo. Second off, why does this scene with Deathbit kinda.....romantic? Like, despite him being Deathbit, he still loves Rogue and wants to be with her forever. Yeah, this could all be a trick, but jeezus the chemistry!
Also, that talk between Rogue and Nur back in episode 4 did come back in a way. Turns out the priestess that was with Rama Tut AKA Kang was X-Ternal, the entity that the Assassins and Thieves guilds had to give tributes to her every 10 years so they get power. I totally forgot that was her. š So, Apocalypse tried the romance route with her, even giving her a portion of her power, but she just used him to get power as revenge for that black hole killing many of her people. I guess she couldn't try to kill him cause a portion of his power wouldn't be enough, so why not hurt him on the inside: his heart. I mean.....I get it. So, I guess after that Apocalypse never tried again ever. š
At first, I thought Rogue was gonna leave, but I feel like if she tried, she'd get captured and forced, which wouldn't be cool. So, I think she went along with the ceremony to buy time for the rest of the teams to arrive. That or there's a part of her that wants to be with Deathbit but is conflicted cause of everything that happened so far. Also X-Ternal didn't last very long. All it took was a single stab, and she's dust. Wow. For someone with a portion of Apocalypse's power and can strip away other peoples' powers, she sure was taken down so easily. And, so much for the guilds' entity keeping them balanced.
