actually: correction! judaism recognizes FOUR genders. the wikipedia article also contains a lot of wrong information and i would not recommend basing your understanding of jewish gender off of it.

two of the six both mean woman (nekevah, meaning cis woman and saris, meaning trans woman) and two both mean man (zachar, meaning cis man and ay’lonit, meaning trans man). 

saris literally means “someone who was identified as male at birth but later is revealed to be female” and ay’lonit literally means “someone who was identified as female at birth but later is revealed to be male”. judaism has recognized trans people for thousands of years.

aside from these four terms, there are also two jewish nonbinary genders. tumtum, which (as an overly simplified explanation) is equivalent to being agender, and androgynos, which (again as an overly simplified explanation) is equivalent to being bigender. judaism has recognized nonbinary genders for thousands of years.

We report at sundown: we saw the light change even as we were hearing rain on the rooftop, so we hurried out. It was not instantaneous; the rainbow appeared slowly, from left to right, and then it stayed for a long time, varying in its intensity. We watched it go, too.
