In fact, if you use “she” and “he” in casual talk, you often sound way too formal in a weird way.

School is 8:30 to 3:30 (or whatever your school's hours are). That's like 7 hours. Why should school be entitled to the other 17 hours of the day too?

Some schools harp on and on about mental health then turn around and assign more homework than you could fit in a whale's mouth. What delicious irony

But on that point—homework actually causes a lot of stress to students, and can have bad effects on mental health. Take Finland. They don't have homework in Finland. Yet they have lower student suicide rates and higher graduation rates than countries like the US. But of course, homework is so essential, right?

And if teachers can't fit all the material into the lesson, there's either too much or their bad teachers or both

If people are interested, there’s actually a whole book about this! It’s called The Homework Myth by Alfie Kohn. I highly recommend it. I read it years ago but the thing that stuck with me the most is that academically, depending on age, homework either doesn’t correlate with higher academic achievement or it actively harms them. Elementary school students do worse in school when they have homework. By high school there’s a very slight improvement correlated with homework (within reason—if every class is assigning a lot of it, that’s a problem), but imo not enough to be worth all the other negatives.
