One year ago, Heated Rivalry wrapped!
With S2 of Heated Rivalry starting production on August/September, it means that we will see casting announcements soon and I'm warning now that I won't be normal about the Centaurs. They are my babies, I love them and will fist fight anyone that says something mean about them.
The math is simple. I love both Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams. Connor Storrie and Hudson Williams love each other. My brain is free of rot and I can sleep easy knowing that two amazing people found their other half.
If it helps, the Peloton ad was only only set up to run until May 31st as a normal ad cycle. It was removed per that schedule. You can always view an ad’s lifecycle via Instagram/Meta.
It does seem to be absolutely unfortunate timing.
I heard we’re sharing some of our favorite pics or gifs of Hudson, here are a few of my favs:
Im relived that it seems most of us has come to the conclusion that this is not something Hudson has done, but something that was done to him. Woke up yesterday morning to so many mixed opinions, and woke up today to most ppl seemingly agreeing that someone shouldn't be held accountable, for something that was written on them by white people when they were 17.
I know in the long run Hudsons career will survive this, but I hope he's doing okay and not having brands and job offers pulling out.
while I 1000% support crackfic writers who write about Ilya spilling about their sex life, in reality I think that shit would be locked DOWN.
like, I think the only details the internet would get would be Ilya liking posts about Shane being a god in bed, into freak sex, that things get real wild after big hockey victories and that the rivalry was foreplay, etc
only stuff that’s funny and wild, but ultimately contains exactly zero details of their actual sex.
like yes, for all the sexy possessive reasons, and all of the privacy and ‘I share the internet with my in-laws’ reasons’, but also because of how Shane would be treated if it was actually known that he was a bottom.
It’s not super explored in canon, but cmon… Shane is a half Japanese gay man in hockey. Those are both two very loaded identities for an incredibly bigoted sport, and they come with a lot of really vicious intersectional ammo.
Shane would already hear so much about how Asian men are submissive and all of the other bullshit I refuse to write out, imagine how much more brutal it would be if there was actual confirmation that the stereotypes are on some level, accurate?
in that same way that homophobia would have hit so much harder for Shane after he was outed and knew that the other player MEANT it, all of that would be even more hurtful and degrading.
And so yeah, I don’t think either Ilya or Shane would EVER reference what positions or anything they prefer in bed anywhere near the public, because the public fucking sucks :((
significantly i don't think shane would be sneaking mangoes on the reg because even if the reaction isn't severe, it is one element of his physical state that isn't Peak Performance, which I don't think he would find acceptable during the season
I do think (and am charmed by) the idea that end of season/contracts/photoshoots is Mango Time
literally waits ALL year to have his delicious, delicious forbidden treat
and I'm also cracking up imagining 19 year old shane starting this tradition at the end of his first season, in his own home, and doing Youthful Rebellion by having mangoes because his parents aren't there to stop him
they should invent a body that feels normal to be inside of
this shit is crazy
Genuinely one of my favorite moments of BTVS is during Once More With Feeling when Buffy goes to Spike’s crypt to get info on what’s happening/be alone with him and Spike is trying to politely kick her out because he would LOVE for her to be there and for them to spend time together but he can’t risk breaking out into song in front of her and singing his feelings and losing his recently acquired cool, calm, collected personality he’s finely tuned.
Like seasons 4 and 5 he was mostly a raging, whiney freak who occasionally did creepy, childish, invasive things and eventually he was forced by circumstance to grow up and take control of his soulless existence instead of blaming everything on it and excusing himself from any responsibility for his actions.
He was willing to sacrifice himself to protect Buffy and Dawn, he literally fell off a 100 foot crane putting his body on the line for them, he dedicated his days post-Buffy to keeping an eye on Sunnydale and keeping Dawn safe because besides Willow (who wouldn’t be any good in a physical fight anyways) he was the only one who meaningfully could. He took Joyce’s “I love what you’ve neglected to do with the place” to heart and actually put effort into remodeling his dark, dank pit in the ground into something attractive and comfortable, expecting to have guests over—HUMAN (and demons like Clem I suppose) GUESTS. He spent the nights awake after Buffy’s death sitting with regret for things he could have done differently—could have done better—to save her. He changed so much because loving Buffy was transformative, even when she was dead and gone.
He would love to show her around his place some more, go on a walk, have a drink—he even implies as much when he sadly watches her go and says, “So I take it you’re not staying, then?”
But even more so, Buffy goes to him knowing full well that SHE could sing in front of him. And maybe this could be read as “well she didn’t have any feelings for him so she would have no reason to be nervous or embarrassed” but I take it as she was alone with the only person who would understand whatever song she sung. Hell, she was walking around the graveyard the night before when she was singing by herself (and with random vampires) and she was still a little ashamed about it even without witnesses or singing anything particularly cringe. And my point is only proven correct when, in the end, it is Spike who comes to her rescue in the final act—stopping her from dancing herself to death and telling her exactly what she needs to hear, the very thesis of Season 6, “Life isn’t bliss, life is just this, it’s living. You have to go on living.”
They could have very easily made it a Xander “heart of the group” moment, or a Dawn and Buffy sister moment, or even a fatherly Giles moment—but it was Spike and Buffy because narratively, he was the only one who was actually seeing her and hearing her. It wasn’t a hamfisted attempt to cram Spike into a scene he didn’t belong in like some people imply, it’s actually the only option that makes any sense.
Just such a lovely, layered episode from an incredible season of dark but hopeful television.
'Buffy renaissance', digital study
I’m rewatching Buffy s6 and I forgot how much I absolutely adore this season. Might be in my top three tbh
I've gone. Not one for goodbyes, I thought it best to slip out quietly. Love to you all, Giles.
Rest in peace, Anthony Stewart Head (1954 – 2026)
