I might be in the minority here, but fuck it I'm going to say it: I think that Touya should die.
And not because I hate the character (though I'm not his biggest fan), but because just look at him.
I keep seeing people say that they want him to beat the odds and keep living, but seriously, what kind of quality of life is that? He's been barbecued and freeze-dried from the inside out, can't move, can't go anywhere since he's rightfully in prison, and if he has any pain receptors left I can only imagine that he spends his days in agony. I don't want this for him, I don't want this for anyone.
Sure, he gets his Dad's attention now but is that really going to make up for it? I'd say give him a week, maybe two, to talk to what family is willing to see him then let him pass on. The brutality this character has gone through, even if self-inflicted, is warrant enough to at least let him have a peaceful end, maybe with his family in the room so he finally knows that he's not alone. I think that’s the best you expect for Touya now. He didn’t die alone on a mountain, but he really does need to go.

Nah but thing is, its weird to rather see him dead in the fantasy anime with supernatural powers where people can literally bring people back from the dead and preform other miraculous feats instead of imagining him recovering some since we've already clearly established real world logic does not apply to Dabi and he's been restored from the same state in the past just by advanced medical science alone. ( no healing quirk involved )

But real talk Dabi being disabled in a manner that has him potentially bed ridden or greatly reduces his mobility doesn't instantly remove his “quality of life” and asking for euthanasia when so many disabled people live in similar ways quite happily is wild.
The idea he's in constant pain is false. His nerves have been damaged so badly he doesn't feel pain. That's a major problem for him but not in the way you all think. Again this resembles / is the same as a real condition some people have irl and they can still live happy lives.
The idea that Dabi is stuck with his abuser is also wild because he loves that man and while I agree this is a super twisted way for him to finally be the object of enjis attention I really don't think he's personally that upset about it.
I think he's happy he's finally getting the attention and recognition he craved from his family. I think he showed he wants to heal if his heartfelt apology to shoto wasn't tell enough.
So with all that in mind why would it be kinder to hope for his death than to hope he pulls through and gets to live the rest of his life with his family as well as possible? He's in the right place to receive around the clock care and support from both his family and medical professionals mind you. Like ultimately this is all imagination at the end of the day and it's unlikely well ever see him again before the Manga ends and well be left entirely to decide for ourselves what his ultimate fate will be and I don't think it has to be anywhere near as grim and brutal as some of you do and thats not talking as a fan, that's just talking as a disabled person who sees, experiences and understands similar circumstances as these characters.
Idk man I think this fandom needs to seriously examine the way you all think about disabled lives and how quick you all are to want to end them just cause y'all can't imagine anyone living the way many real disabled people do. Its uh. Its a lot!

Hey yo, first off. I am disabled. It does impact my life and my enjoyment of it. I understand your sentiment of wanting to fight ableism making us seem "subhuman" or that our lives aren't worth living, but please don't minimize our experiences of suffering due to our conditions in the process.
Secondly, I think you forget that he's in prison. That is what I primarily meant by, he can't go anywhere. He's literally stuck in a place of punishment, and in isolation no less. I don't want him to leave that place quite personally, I do believe that he belongs there, but I don't see what fulfilling life he has ahead of him aside from talks with his family. This DOES seem cruel to me. Even in a fantasy world where he were to magically pull through, he's going to be Tartartus for the rest of his natural life. I was concerned about this same thing when there was still the possibility of a "redeemed" Shiggy. And this is not me saying "Oh just kill all prisoners too then," this is me saying that for this fictional character under this circumstance, it feels like a cruel and unusual punishment.
Maybe to you, Touya seems happy. He's getting attention from his family and that's all he wants and needs. That's your take and it serves the narrative just fine. But when I see the state of this character, I don’t want them to just drag out his punishment in this way. His family talks to me seem like crumbs in the face of all that he will be put through physically, mentally, and legally for how he currently is and what all he has done against hero society. I think a fitting end to his arc is to finally let him go. That is all I said, that is all I meant.
