People legitimately think there was no criticism of the Harry Potter series before her TERF/soft holocaust denier era and I'm sorry to tell you but people were criticizing the Cho Chang banking goblins werewolf-AIDS metaphor elf emancipation is silly series years before Joanne's public turn to transmisogynistic chauvinism.

There were things to criticize of the series.

he isn't *technically* the only Black character, which is not to defend her, because the books so rarely mention the others that i really don't blame ppl for thinking so 🙄

and also even before she was publicly a terf, there is so much (trans)misogyny in the series, she hates women so much. female characters are constantly criticised for being too fat, too ugly, too hairy, too gnc OR too girly, too talkative, too emotional, etc, and she is not nearly that harsh on male characters unless she can be racist or homophobic towards them
