I often think about how Jesus knew he was going to die. We often say how you never know what will be your last morning, your last night of sleep, your last moment of peace. Except Jesus did know, He knew it intimately. He knew His last time eating with those He loved, His last time to hug His mother, His last prayer. How precious were these moments for Him? The last time He had physically been with His creation had been in Eden. Now, wrapped in flesh, He had to give it up again all for the hope that He could again be with us, this time forever. The love of God physically hurts me sometimes. I feel how He misses me, and I dearly miss Him.

Look, we joke a lot, but really, "you were born evil, wretched, worse than the scum of the earth, and it took killing a god to make you salvageable, so now you'd better be grateful to that god and thank him 10,000 times a day for it and fill your thoughts with him 24/7 and abide by the letter of his every word, lest you suffer unimaginable torture for all of eternity" is a truly horrendous thing to believe about yourself and other people

important PSA from a Christian who has Opinions™ about this type of doctrine! we do believe that all humans were born with original sin. however, there are two other important things.

first, we were also made in the image of God, meaning that we also are all born with inherent holiness. that's a side no one mentions-we are inherently evil, but we are also inherently good.

second, we believe that God wants to help us no matter what. He really, really, really wants us to be with Him. The point of constant worship is not to appease Him. That is a horrible mindset to have, and my heart goes out to anyone who believes or believed that. It's to be happy and to make others happy, because we believe that God is worth worshiping.

There are definitely people who believe that Christianity is inherently about appeasing a God whom we owe a massive debt and base their faith on fear. That is not true Christianity. It is a horrific corruption and misinterpretation of the truth of the matter. The point is that we CANNOT atone for our sins. So God did it for us, because he loves us, and will not demand recompense. We were under a debt, and God paid it. The point of the whole thing is redemption and joy.

Disclaimer: like I said, the belief that you detailed totally exists and is awful and really, really sad. I just wanted to throw my two cents in about the difference between that and true Christian faith.

when Christ said not to be anxious because God provides for our needs, He didn't use the example of ants. they work hard and strive to save resources for the coming days. no, He used sparrows as an example. they do not sow nor reap, nor gather into barns. in short, they don't worry about what they're going to eat or if their needs are going to be met. they already know their Creator will feed them--yes, they're fed, even in the stormiest weather. and so Christ says, you are more valuable than birds. you are made in His image, you have been redeemed by His blood, and you have been adopted into His kingdom. why then do you worry? He says, seek first the kingdom of God, and these things will be added to you.

pursue Christ, love the brethren (including your family), be faithful to the daily tasks He has given to you. don't worry about the necessities, because He will provide them. not He might provide them, He will provide them for you. He has promised it. therefore, do not be anxious.

Trusting God Through Life's Uncertainties

Life often brings moments when we don't know what's next or how our plans will turn out. We worry about the future and struggle to make decisions.

God, as the creator of all things, holds the blueprint for our lives. When we feel lost and unsure of our path, it is written that "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight" (Proverbs 3:5-6). This scripture teaches us to surrender to His guidance, promising clarity and direction in return.

The book of Proverbs gives us practical wisdom for life. It teaches us how to live well and make good choices. When we trust God, we find strength and clarity, even in uncertain times.

Despite life's uncertainties and unanswered questions, we are called to trust God in every situation. He didn't promise a life without challenges, but He assured us that He will always be with us, even during difficult times.
