Brighten Someone's Day
In 3 John chapter 1, the apostle John writes a letter to his beloved friend Gaius. In this letter, he expresses his hope for his friend’s good health—both in body and soul. He shares his joy over Gaius’s faithfulness to others and kindly asks him to show hospitality and love to fellow believers so they may continue working together in the truth. John also addresses a problem and reminds Gaius of the value of doing good. Through this letter, we can clearly see the care, encouragement, and love he wanted to show his friend.
Letter writing was common before and even considered an art in past centuries. But now that we live in the 21st century, letter writing is rarely seen or done, since we can now communicate digitally. However, this should not be a barrier or a reason to hold back from giving encouragement and love to others. It's not about the way we encourage them, but the effort and the moment we take to show others that we care for them.
This encouragement and message can be a source of hope for someone when they need it most. This is a reminder for you to check on other believers or friends you have. Connect with them again. What you may think is just a simple letter or message might actually be the very thing that brings hope and joy to someone's soul throughout the day.
