Yeah, she gets it. But thatâs not what made her smile. At least, something that resembled a smile. What she found humorous was how Lynn found his own incredibly lame joke the funniest thing in the world. A swell of noglostia press itself against her chest. God, could she ever remember what it felt like to laugh at something so simple, but now, â it felt different. It didnât make sense to her. It felt uncomfortable that she was willing to even try. âGood one.â Jordan attempts, although, her voice is monotone. âWhoâs there?â At least one of them should to smile tonight, right?
âThomas Jefferson.â Jordanâs smile only encouraged him to grin more, and Lynn wiggled in his seat as he waited to tell the punchline.
me: what the hell is wrong with me brain: hereâs a repressed memory that explains a lot of things me: Well Lock It Back Up?? Did I Ask For All That????

âYou know, sometimes when Iâm feeling like this, I find itâs best to look for a quiet place where I can read something completely out of this world. I donât mean out of this world as the cheesy expression for something cool, I mean literally. Some sort of space adventure or fantasy universe. It can help to escape this place for a while, you know?â He smiled warmly. âBut if youâre not a big reader, ice cream is a pretty good alternative.â
âWhy not both?â Lynn grinned at the stranger and put his phone back in his pocket. "Ice cream and Wheel of Time is a winning combination.â
jordanadlers:
She stares at him passively as she waits for him to speak. She hated waiting on people, even for the littlest things. Jordan forces herself to not drum her fingers against the bar counter. âAbraham Lincoln, who?âŠâ Where the hell could he be possibly be going with this?
"Havenât you heard of me?â It took all of two seconds for Lynn to dissolve into a fit of laughter at his own stupid joke. He kicked the bar and looked down at the counter, sipped his beer to calm down, and finally looked back to Jordan once heâd gotten himself under control. He knew his roommate was getting impatient with him, but he was enjoying her company, and the joke was only half finished, so...
 âKnock knock.â

( âNever really been a sports fan.â) Jericho shrugged, which was something of a lie.          He used to be into baseball, heâd play and watch the game with his dad.             But when his parents died the sport just didnât had the same appeal.
âAre you a fighting fan?â Lynn laughed. âThey had a lot of that, too.â
As the conversation fell off, Lynn studied the man sitting next to him, eyeing him up and down as he idly sipped his beer. Ever since he was little the silent types always flocked to him droves, and now, seeing his new drinking buddy, he wondered why that was. He took a few more drinks, looked down at the counter, then turned to face Jericho.
âSo tell me a story.â

Leaning against the wall, Cyrus wasnât entirely sure how long it had taken Lynn, as he had drifted off to sleep while standing up. When the door creaked open, however, he pushed off the wall and woke himself up. Ran a hand over his own face. âNo it doesnât,â Cyrus replied with an exasperated sigh. âItâs filled with too many people to exist,â he huffed a hiss, stepping backwards. âLetâs go.â
Lynn closed the door and lazily stepped forward, trotting after Cyrus as the two of them headed off. â Yeah, but itâs not like the Isle de Muerta. It still exists.â He paused to take a three-day-old Twix bar out of his bag, shoved it in his mouth, and continued forward. âDid you hear about Pepsi Fire?â
aoifehq:
âwashington state.â she repeated slowly, trying to search her memory to where the fuck in america that was. âhonestly, i know california, texas, new york, and not much in between.â she laughed at his next words, wincing when appropriate. âouch, flatten him out much?â
âGo to Los Angeles and drive north for about fifteen hours and youâll hit Washington.â Lynn laughed and sipped on his beer. âYeah, heâs been on the straight and narrow ever since.â
jordanadlers:
No. Jordan doesnât answer out loud though. She should have gone straight to the room after her shift, she wasnât ready to be âoutâ yet. Hearing Lynn, she slowly looks over to him, âLynnâŠâ Itâs a forewarning as she gazing over his features to see if he was serious. Of course he was serious. â     Whoâs there?â Jordan asks, a tiny sliver of curiosity in her voice.
Lynn raised his eyebrows at the mention of his name, then smiled when his roommate finally played into his joke. He took another sip of beer to stall his time. Then, âAbraham Lincoln.â

âI think âhilariousâ is an overstatement. You couldnât even get me to properly laugh. The set up was also too long, I stopped listening for a minute or two,â she admitted, clenching her teeth together in guilt. With his introduction of a new joke, she scooted up closer to her chair in anticipation of his it, knowing it can only get better. However, once it was told, the disappointment could be seen in her demeanor. âAnd thatâs my cue to leave,â Kali responded as she got up from her chair, pretending to leave before sitting back down. âAlright, I got one. What do you call a cow with no legs?â
Lynn chuckled to himself when his new friend feigned leaving, grinning from ear to ear when she came back two seconds later. When she sat down, he put his arm on the counter and leaned toward her. âI donât know; what do you call a cow with no legs?â
