If a female character kicks ass, she’s overpowered. If a female character can’t defend herself, she’s unnecessary. If a female character acts nice, she’s boring. If a female character acts mean, she’s a bitch. If a female character shows no emotion, she’s heartless. If a female character shows emotion, she’s weak. What can a female character do without being criticized mercilessly?

Cause he shows his emotions, he doesn’t hold them in and he has courage. I admire him deeply and he is my favorite character of the series. I don’t like him cause he’s the main character, I like/love him because I can relate to him in a way. If I was in that situations where there was man eating titans going around the city eating my friends and loved ones I would try to protect them, and yeah I would be broken down like he was. Don’t tell me that he is a cry baby, because if you were in that situation you would cry as well. He is a beautiful human being that has emotions, beautiful emotions.

I wouldn’t just stand around watching comrades getting eaten, I would try to help like he did, but he ended up being eaten. I would too probably if I was in that situation. My point is, I love him and a character and he is precious to me. If he ever got killed off I would cry in my room for a few hours probably.

So I found this harlequin romance paperback today, and normally I just toss those right over without paying them much mind, but the cover of this one made me pause. Sure that the artist was just taking liberties, I checked out the back.

I’m dubious. I should read a passage:

Okay yeah I’ll admit it I’m going to read this but only because it sounds like the most fucked up romance novel in existence.

i had to read this book in uni for my first year Canadian literature class. When we first heard of it we were like, “Oh the Bear’s a metaphor or some shit.” but then one kid read ahead, and was like, “Guys, no, she literally fucks the bear. She fucked a bear.”

I went to church with a lady that went to do missionary work in Africa (I think it was Africa.) and they had classes on how they needed to dress and stuff. And at one point she made a joke about wearing turtlenecks and the teacher said “Darlin, you could walk around topless for all the men are going to care.”

This woman is “stacked” “buxom”… she has big titties okay?

And she said “Really??”

And the teacher explained. “Breasts are for babies in most parts of the world. It’s only in America and a few other places that Breasts are seen as sexual. Breasts to men of the country we are going to are for babies and only for babies. Now… your ass on the other hand… you’re gonna need some long skirts with a high waist, cause they notice the booty.”
