saw someone on reddit theorize that la’an is going to die in spock’s presence and that’s going to be the catalyst that drives spock to pure logic. this lines up with two thoughts i have about snw: 1) la’an HAS to die in snw because that makes the most sense for both kirk and spock: 2) this spock is not the logical spock we know from tos. spock is dating women, his facial expressions betray emotion, and he’s far more open than he was on tos. if this is the case, i think this is a fantastic progression for his character.
