Cassius and Sevro are obviously antithetic and sort of dicthonomic characters, but I have never actually seen posts about this, so here is some thoughts scrambled together:
Sevro is a Bronzie, considered by Society 'a genetic failure' and treated as such by fellow Golds. He developped body-image issues, because of that, and still has them in his adulthood.
Cassius is the Golden Boyā¢ļø of the Society, everything physically remarkable at a Gold, he has it and it came with the privileges one gets in his position. He is obviously aware that he looks way better than average.
Sevro was trained to survive this harsh world that wants him dead by his own father. Thus, he developped a complicated relationship with Fitchner, because they spent more time training for survival than actually being father and son.
Cassius is his father's favourite and also his heir. Tiberius invested quality time with his heir and raised Cassius with similar values. They had a strong bond. Cassius has a strong connection with his House in general, from his twin to his brothers and his cousins and even nieces and nephews, he was raised among a big family and he became good with kids this way.
Sevro was raised to survive, not to break glass-ceillings. He was made aware of the fact that sticking out gets you nailed back down, so he adopted a lone wolf attitude early on and never tried to interfere, just survive. This upbringing made him rough around the edges and socially awkward, knowing that he doesn't actually belong anywhere, so there was no actual need to dream or try to gain friends.
Cassius was raised with no imposed limits, no damper on his dreams. He aspired for an Olympic Knight post, so he was given all the necessary training he could require, something not that many Golds are able to afford. This upbringing made him ignorant of various injustices and made him want to defend the Society without actually questioning it.
Both get individual development, especially through out Morning Star, and eventually end up reversing positions - Sevro has a big family of his own (found family counts too) and it's Cassius who takes the lone wolf position. Despite that, they both still struggle with their respective traumas - Sevro still has body-image issues and struggles to be the father he never got the chance to have, while Cassius is plagued by his own demons regarding his family, but also just trying to live with no expectations from life, with no actual dream or objective.
They both have a strong bond with Darrow, but they are actual polar opposites of each other, sort of like Victra and Virginia.
While Cassius values honour above all (even though he had to learn what the difference between actual honour and what Bellonas think it is), Sevro values loyalty above all.
Cassius makes Sevro self-conscious af: there is a Howler rule against making fun of a guy who shat his suit and the holo of the Senate mural in Electra's playroom despicts Cassius as ugly and Sevro as comely. Also, Victra didn't want Darrow to tell Sevro about her one-night stand with Cassius.
Cassius boasted about his kill in the Passage, it was a boy he knew in his childhood (his purpose was to get Julian's killer to out themself), while Sevro couldn't stand that game and left the meeting room fast, even though he killed a primeDraft he never knew.
Cassius swore to protect and uphold the Compact of the Society and basically mantain status quo, while Sevro took up the mantle of Ares and warred with the Society, because Cassius killed Fitchner.
Both subvert extremely clichƩique character types - Sevro: the sidekick, the nice guy, the lone wolf - Cassius: the hero, the alpha male, the jock.
