my turn at this one. ART is the feed? no. ART is the frame
grace..get in the hail mary
In 2026, the chicest thing a gay actor can do is never explicitly come out as gay but also make it abundantly clear that he is. Coming out is too modern. Staying closeted is too old fashioned. But this method merges contemporary freedom with Old Hollywood glamour and allure, and it weeds out the dumbest people who truly don’t get it. I call it the Pascal Method.
Taylor Swift does this
no she doesn’t
You clearly don't go here or to queer history and signaling, or both, enough to have this conversation and I'm not going to explain it to you. You could have asked questions, you could have done even a modicum of research. You didn't and you made yourself look ignorant. Goodbye.
having invisible disabilities really shifts what your ideas of “personal information” and “privacy” and “dignity” bc u meet someone and you explain your situation for the past couple years with honesty and they’re like “wow.. it must be so hard to share that thank you..” and you’re like i mean yeah it’s just what my life has been.. and they give you the “😟☹️😅 yeah…”
like just saying “yeah so i went through several doctors who didn’t know how to treat me before i found one hospital that would..” or “i have a suicidal and depressive episode once every four weeks exactly” has gone from embarrassing to common small talk with cowkerkers or receptionist. if i want people to have reasonable expectations of me i have to tell them all my wide open dirty little secrets. while it’s nice to be accepted/accommodated or at least tolerated i do wish there was more grace and privacy with mental health/mental disabilities.
you can say one thing and have some privacy and dignity but no real concern- “i don’t feel good today” OR you can tell the truth “i feel like killing myself today” and feel totally exposed/humiliated and at risk of something worse. you lie and become “flaky” or you show up and become “an asshole” or you tell the truth and become a “psycho bummer”. pick your perception: lazy or crazy. either way nobody knows how to treat you
“Forced Intimacy” is a term I have been using for years to refer to the common, daily experience of disabled people being expected to share
month starting on a monday we have no excuse guys lets get to work and lock the fuck in
yk its actually very chic and avant garde to start on tuesday the second
many claim theres nothing more subversive and revolutionary than starting on wednesday the third
funny little headcanon is that i believe if victoria ever came out to her mom that shamsi would be like 'okay, that's fine. but i still don't understand why you do not want to go into surgery. all the other gay women are in surgery; do you not want to be a gay surgeon like yolanda and emery? what about your lesbian friend trinity, doesn't she want to do surgery as well? you can do better victoria'
Shamsi!
there's something just amazing about john gaius being all "i saved the world, but not for me", blatantly riffing off of lord of the rings, which no one will ever call him on, bc he's the only person who remembers lord of the rings. to make matters worse better more, he's not even quoting the book. he's quoting the movie. so lame, you think, and then you remember where the movies were filmed and about the hobbit tax and the maōri stuntpeople who only ever got to play "evil ugly" orcs and easterlings and all of that and oh boy it's all connected here isn't it
but it also is unambiguously hilarious of him to compare himself to frodo. it's like if frodo set out to destroy sauron but orcs kept trying to arrest the fellowship and call him a charlatan on the middle earth news or whatever and also halfway through he gets hit up by gondor and they tell him that denethor just died and they need him to use the ring to reanimate his corpse and he just does it. and in the end frodo loses it and destroys all of middle earth except sauron who runs away on a spaceship
wait hold up i'm back. i was going to be all "how dare you stand where he stood" but then i remembered what actually happened, famously, to frodo: he failed at the last step. he claimed the ring. (he just was lucky gollum happened to be there and disaster was averted.) he tried very hard, but in the end, he just couldn't do what he'd set out to do. sure yeah i can maybe see how jod would relate to that
Perhaps also relevant:
Gollum's last moments before descending under the Misty Mountains:
After Frodo begins experiencing possessiveness for the Ring:
And John, and C— and N—'s wedding:
something I haven't seen people mention about The Hunger Games trilogy and movies is how it genuinely revolutionized the Minecraft server scene
its really unfortunate that padme no longer used the body double approach to security after aotc because the concept of the queen of fakeout deaths being married to the guy who loses his shit at the thought of her dying is honestly the wildest fucking thing and i think it's underutilised. let's give anakin a few trial runs before his big breakdown ok. maybe seeing padme getting assassinated live on space tv on a monthly basis will let him microdose on acceptance and inner peace. he can get into a different stage of grief each time and maybe when rots rolls around he will be fine
dont think about how grace is most likely only alive because stratt fought to have every copy written thing ever on the hail mary. dont think about how grace most likely doesnt know the exact chemicals and nutrients to keep a human alive. dont think about stratt insisting that the hail mary needs as much data on board as possible because what if they need it. dont think about how the eridian scientists tasked with keeping grace alive are using data that stratt insured they would have not know how helpful it would be in keeping her friend alive
