From scrub scrimmages last summer to this 10-inning Scarborough Summer Classic I cannot express how happy this past Sunday made me. To think that this all started on a whim and a $60 investment on a baseball glove to gathering 30+ friends for an epic game resulting in a walk-off win for #TeamTrinidaddy. I'm blessed to have friends that supported me through organizing all of this and coming out week after week for softball. The new friends we've made this summer and those we've reconnected with have all made this summer one of the most memorable of my life. To see people who started out as complete amateurs with no experience to where they are now able to make routine plays is simply amazing. That we've gotten people to take an interest in the sport and strive to get better is just another blessing from all of this and if Sunday is our last big get together for the year it was definitely a high note to go out on. I'm hopeful that we can keep this going next year and hopefully make it bigger. M.I.A in the pic are Kevin, Jev and Seika (at McGregor Community Centre)

And just like that another year has passed. The further I get away from my accident in 2009, the more I see how my life has changed for better and for worse. I've found new interests like softball, but I've also found my limitations in it. I continue to see who's been there to help support me through the years and those that I grew distant from because of it. Reflecting on this day again I remember why I was out that day to begin with. Despite a morning shower, the skies cleared up and I went on my way to work out, to better myself and solely with the motivation of trying to make myself more appealing to a girl (LOL 😂). Obviously things didn't work out both ways and I've had setbacks in my life, but few plans in life rarely work out, at least in the ways we want it to. While I'm obviously more physically limited now because of my leg, another point of view is that I did better myself in other ways. My accident taught me patience and perspective. Two years of rehab takes a toll on you both physically and mentally and I'll admit there were times I almost broke. To walk into the hospital for my monthly checkup and be told month after month that there was no progress was devastating. Robbed of the full use of my leg, what I couldn't do with it I refocused on my hands and wrote more. I'm not a great writer, but I've taken strides in getting better over the years. But beyond those areas I'd like to think these experiences helped make me a better person to those around me. On a side note... I've got a really bad tan on my face. Such a defined line along my brow ridge 😂😂😂😂😂
