This isn't even about byler - while yes, the duffer brothers had the most incredible opportunity to create an actually incredible, thought out slow burn romance, I dont even care. Why does every queer storyline need to be about self acceptance and never love. Will Byers gets an epilogue boyfriend we know nothing about. We don't care about him. There is no point. He doesn't even ever get kissed. It's bullshit. We never even see Vickie in the finale. There is such an outward lack of queer joy, despite what Mike says happens in the epilogue. There is no queer love story that ends well. And I know realistically, it was the 80s, and would more than likely not end well, however queer people deserve to see love on the big screen. This is why so many queer kids like myself feel as though we won't have a happy ending, because media consistently shows us that it won't ever end well. And not only this, it therefore means that Mike's character arc really was just obliterated into the ground, that Will's whole character was really just to prop up Mileven. I'm more upset than anything that all of the characters ended up being so barebones, put back into stereotypes they didn't deserve. Even fucking STEVE didn't end up with anyone. There was such a lack of arcs for everyone, so many plot holes left open, I can't believe this is how it ends.
