boyfriend!edward elric who still doesn't know how to flirt with you after years of dating
You leaned against the kitchen counter, arms crossed, just watching him with a little smile you knew drove him crazy. Edward was trying so hard to look busy, scribbling notes even though breakfast was already done. His braid was a tiny bit messy from sleep and it made your chest feel all warm and fuzzy.
"Morning, pretty boy," you said sweetly, tilting your head. "You gonna keep pretending to work or are you gonna come give your girlfriend a good morning kiss?"
Edward didn't look up right away, but you saw his cheeks go pink almost instantly. "W-what the hell are you calling me that for?" he muttered, he glanced up at you, golden eyes shimmering. "It’s too early for that kinda stuff."
You giggled and stepped closer, slipping your arms around his middle. "It's never too early to make you all blushy and cute."
He made this little strangled sound and tried to look anywhere but your face. His hands hovered awkwardly near your waist before finally settling there. "I'm not blushy at all," he protested, even though his ears were bright red. "You just… you say stuff like that and I don't know how to… ugh."
Edward rubbed the back of his neck, clearly fighting a smile and losing. "You're way too good at this. I'm trying to focus and then you come in looking all pretty and calling me pretty boy and my brain just stops."
You beamed and leaned in, brushing your nose against his. "Oh, I love when your brain stops, means I get to see this super flustered side of you that only I get." You poked his chest lightly. "Because you're super in love with me, right?"
He groaned and hid his face against your shoulder, muffling his words. "Of course I'm in love with you, idiot. You know that." His voice got quieter. "I suck at saying it back all smooth like you do, that's all. Every time I try it sounds stupid in my head."
Your heart melted. You hugged him tighter and kissed the side of his neck. "I don't need smooth, Ed. I just need you. All awkward and grumpy like this. It’s my favorite version of you."
He peeked up at you, still flushed, but his eyes were soft and full of love he could never quite hide. "You're impossible," he mumbled, then leaned in and kissed you quick. When he pulled back he was smiling though. "There. Happy now?"
You laughed softly and cupped his warm cheeks. "Very happy."
Edward rolled his eyes but didn't let go of you. Instead he pulled you closer, burying his face in your hair again and holding you tighter.
