Can you believe that there are people who live so close to the ocean that they can just think “hey, I should go to the ocean” and then they just do???
For those who can’t go to the ocean….
…I can bring an ocean to you.
thank you

Eli Bosnick had the best response to this ridiculousness.
“If I gave you a bowl of skittles and three of them were poison would you still eat them?”
“Are the other skittles human lives?”
“What?”
“Like. Is there a good chance. A really good chance. I would be saving someone from a war zone and probably their life if I ate a skittle?”
“Well sure. But the point-”
“I would eat the skittles.”
“Ok-well the point is-”
“I would GORGE myself on skittles. I would eat every single fucking skittle I could find. I would STUFF myself with skittles. And when I found the poison skittle and died I would make sure to leave behind a legacy of children and of friends who also ate skittle after skittle until there were no skittles to be eaten. And each person who found the poison skittle we would weep for. We would weep for their loss, for their sacrifice, and for the fact that they did not let themselves succumb to fear but made the world a better place by eating skittles.
Because your REAL question…the one you hid behind a shitty little inaccurate, insensitive, dehumanizing racist little candy metaphor is, IS MY LIFE MORE IMPORTANT THAN THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF MEN, WOMEN, AND TERRIFIED CHILDREN…
… and what kind of monster would think the answer to that question… is yes?”
Let’s all be honest, every last one of us wants to stand in the mouth of a dark cave holding a flicking torch in one hand and a sword in the other.
Well, now I do.
As great as it would have been for Callum to love Rayla just that much that he managed to make the wing spell work, it was literally just that he didn’t have the correct arm positioning.
Like here’s how Ibis did it
And then Callum’s attempts
And then somehow in between his last attempt and calming himself down enough to think a little bit and stare at Rayla, it looks like he somehow changed his position just enough to get the spell to work.
His hands are a lot more relaxed and he isn’t falling at a completely vertical angle anymore.
So yeah, we can all gush about how his love made the spell work, but it was just technicalities.
However, this does not take away the impact of the scene in any way for me because he still jumped to what could have been his death for the sliver of a chance that he could save Rayla.
Honestly I think I love this even more than it only being about his feelings for her. It just seems more real; sometimes perfectly rational events happen at just the right time, and there’s nothing mystical about it, it’s just ... timing and coincidence, but the emotion stirred by the coincidence are just as important as the coincidence itself ... like, sunlight piercing through clouds just at the right time kind of coincidence. And I have a pretty strong feeling that this is a totally canon explanation canon and it’s supposed to make you feel like it happens because Callum reached some deeper part of himself and learns the Wind Arcanum by letting go of his inhibitions and admitting his feelings about Rayla. But there’s enough subtext to suggest that it’s really just ... Callum finally finding the right arm position for the spell and show is just so honest and authentic like that because both of these interpretations can coexist and are equally important and aah.

let’s bring this back since we’re still seeing backyard boys wearing camo to try to look like the soldiers they’re not, while marching against the freedom real soldiers protect

Love these. NativeVML teamed with People Against Suffering Oppression and Poverty to create the images — and are hoping to inspire a response all around the world.
Looking at the replies to this post is a pretty accurate representation of how people still equate being Muslim to being from a certain country.
“In 1939, the United States refused to let the S.S. St. Louis dock in our country, sending over 900 Jewish refugees back to Europe, where many died in concentration camps,” write more than 1,000 American rabbis in a letter delivered to Congress yesterday. “That moment was a stain on the history of our country – a tragic decision made in a political climate of deep fear, suspicion, and antisemitism.”
“The Washington Post released public opinion polling from the early 1940s, showing that the majority of U.S. citizens did not want to welcome Jewish refugees to this country in those years,” they continue. “In 1939, our country could not tell the difference between an actual enemy and the victims of an enemy. In 2015, let us not make the same mistake.”
Jewish leaders implore the U.S. to “welcome the stranger,” not to turn away refugees as it did during the Holocaust
Notice these are Jews EVOKING the MEMORY of the Holocaust to implore modern day humanitarian efforts.
This is NOT a COMPARISON of the Holocaust to another tragedy, but rather a reminder of the need for compassion and action now when you all failed then.
This is how (and by who) this can be done.
