The South Park vs. Family Guy vs. The Simpsons argument is so stupid to me because I'm about to graduate film school and Family Guy/Seth McFarlane have not been mentioned once, The Simpsons was briefly mentioned once in an animation history class, and South Park/Trey Parker & Matt Stone have been brought up in almost every single one of my screenwriting classes. Make Love Not Warcraft was a required screening in two TV classes. Seth McFarlane and Matt Groening are not known for coining one of the most effective writing techniques across mediums. Show concept about a horrible punk band for a class (Jo is a part of this story and has blue hair now)! My nineteen-year-olds I birthed
ppl tell me I HAVE to watch this new animated show because it's the best thing since Betty White or whatever and then I watch the pilot and it's about a vocal-fry-having Genki girl whose arc is learning maturity going "Ah! Didn't see ya there! Willowtree Faebrook at your service!" and thrusting her hand out with a grin as to express her exuberance. Her 2008-tsundere mentor and/or love interest turns away, looks at the ground and says "pssh, whatever, fuck off." Their waaaaacky and morally grey sidekick interrupts them by saying "I have a loaded gun!"
