Seinfeld (1989 - 1998) 7.06 The Soup Nаzi
The day starts like every other day, except for the fact that Eddie's throat feels scratchy.
Okay, this is fine. He’ll just go about his day, make some tea and it will go away by lunch. Nothing to worry about.
But then it doesn’t. Instead, it gets worse. He clears his throat and does his best to save his voice for rehearsal. Except all that comes out at rehearsal is a squeak.
Dammit. This isn't good.
Jeff snorts, but immediately voices his concern. "Everything okay, man?"
Eddie clears his throat, barely being able to talk over a whisper, voice full of rasp. "Uh, yeah. Sorry, just a bit of a sore throat today."
Gareth and Jeff share a look. "Yeah, that sounds worse than a sore throat. Maybe we should cut practice short toda-"
"No." Eddies rasps out, "Absolutely not. We have a big gig coming up and we aren't ready."
“We really won’t be if you sound like that.”
Grant speaks up, “Yeah, maybe you should call Ste-“
Eddie whips around and glares at him. “Don’t you dare finish that sentence.” His voice cracks.

Maybe it's the slow descent into fascism but I feel like reminding everyone a little more than usual this pride month that the first pride was a riot.

speaking as an under-the-line crew member affected by this, it’s great to publicize and speak out. send messages of solidarity. threaten to cancel your subscriptions.
but also know that this will lead to significant working-class strain in major cities, namely new york, los angeles, atlanta, chicago, and albuquerque. it’s unavoidable, and it’s imperfect — the people fucked over the most will be the most financially vulnerable, such as PAs, other assists and day-rate workers.
if you live in one of the cities mentioned, this is a great time to get familiar with, and volunteer for, your local mutual aid organizations. you can also reach out to your local teamsters or IATSE chapter — these two have a reciprocal mutual aid pact, and can likely funnel you to relevant resources. monetary assistance is great, but if you can’t donate food banks or even picketing supports will need hands and time as well.
stay safe, stay well, and hold the line!!
