im so sorry that you're doomed by the narrative but i really need you to answer my message on Microsoft Teams
Y’all don’t ignore people enough. That’s why you stressed out.
You are an unreliable narrator because your coping mechanisms for your deep-seated trauma forbid you from acknowledging the reality of the situation. I am an unreliable narrator because I sincerely have no idea what the fuck is going on.
For those who have missed it, a tourist in Hawaii decided it would be fun to chuck a rock (a BIG rock) at a monk seal. He missed, but he was captured on video, and when told it was illegal to interfere with them, said "I'm rich, I can pay the fine."
Is the best part that he got doxxed? No.
Is the best part that he got tracked down by a local and beaten? No.
Arrested on state at federal charges, looking at up to 5 years and 50K? Nope.
The best part is the local city council's reaction.
And the best part of that is the look on the attorney's face.
We gotta do something about the way dog owners behave. No other pet owner is just bringin the pet wherever the fuck they go all the time but for some reason with dog owners they think its fine if they bring their dog to the gym and taco bell and whatever. And you invite a dog owner to your house where youve got your own pets youve got your dog and your cats and whatever it is you have and this dog owner shows up at your door like "oh i brought my dog i hope thats okay hes so sweet youll love him" and it is always the most untrained poorly behaved agressive animal that has ever lived. And we all have to pretend like its acceptable behaviour well im sick of it
Excelent point, but yesterday I saw a man with a cockatoo in the hood of his coat in the entre hall of the supermarket, complaining that his loose bird wasn't allowed inside.
So while that behavious is certainly most present in dog owners, it does not seem to be limited to them.
you know, the more i think about it, the angrier i get about how mainstream media and even people in general treated marie kondo when the life changing magic of tidying up got big. it's just so unnecessary and sad to me and i think the vast majority of people would love what she has to say if they just actually looked into it instead of maliciously memeing her to death? i'm not talking about the cutesy does it spark joy stuff but all the things portraying her as some bizarre evil cleaning dictator.
i actually read her book when i was about twelve years old, in the most shocking and probably only example of me ever being ahead of a trend, and even at twelve i really loved everything she said. at that point in time i lived in fear of my mother's threats that she would come and throw everything away while i was school, and my small and very adhd mind simply could not grasp the concept of "have less stuff". have less of WHICH stuff? how? i'd never actually been taught how to clean my room besides being told "pick up stuff" and "be organized", and as she points out multiple times, cleaning is not an intuitive thing. it's a learned behavior and skill.
anyways. her entire philosophy centers on surrounding yourself with things that you love, and only things that you love (or things that you absolutely need). she explicitly says over and over again that it is not about throwing things away, it is not about minimalism, it is not about "what is the smallest amount possible that you can survive on". she literally has a whole section where she talks about how hard it can be to throw things away when you've lived in poverty all your life and you don't have absolute confidence that you can replace something that you really needed if it gets thrown out, even though you're not likely to ever really need it--you've just been conditioned to think that because that's literally how you survive, when you're poor. she talks about how that mindset can serve and how it can damage. she talks about how minimalism is sort of a rich people thing, cause they can afford to throw everything away.
this woman really came out here and said "i want you to be surrounded by things you love and i'm going to validate your fears and your difficulties in getting to that place" and people somehow got mad at her. i don't understand it
Based on this that I found on Pinterest:
i hate it when someone asks me what my favorite work of art is because i can't say "the one of the woman chilling on the rocks with a dragon lying in her lap and giving off powerful big dick energy" but how else am i supposed to describe it
this is the definition of living deliciously
This is Dragon Resting It's Head On The Lap of a Woman by Robert Leinweber
There's something about this twist on the common unicorn lore that unicorns will lay their heads in the laps of fair (virgin) maidens that I'm absolutely in love with here. Where those women are often portrayed as fragile and innocent and pure, this woman is completely nonchalant. She is confident in her position as part of or benefactor of this dragon's hoard. There is a man climbing to the roost, an interloper, and she has no concerns whatsoever. She and her dragon are content and unconcerned with the petty greed of mortals.
In summary, I want to eat this artwork.
This image has the same aort of energy as those pictures of people who are trying to do some sort of work but can’t because a cat has made themselves comfortable.
She’s like ‘I was just about to get up a shoo the pest boy off of the ro—oh, you want nap/cuddle time? Okay, sure. Pest boy can wait I guess.’

That's the end! I hope you enjoyed this mini-series. :]
This probably wasn't the creator's intent, but this so reminds me of how some people react to folks who are trying to make progress on addressing environmental issues (or honestly any societal issue).
"Don't you feel foolish trying to make progress when the goal you're working toward is so far away??"
It's not a perfect metaphor--we are not nearly as insurmountably far away from accomplishing environmental goals as the knight in this comic, and every step we take along the way makes the situation significantly better.
The only way to get from where you are to where you want to be is to start walking. Every step is progress.
Don't worry, mutual with a zero-note post. I've added your post to my queue. So, in 6-8 business weeks, we're going to do big numbers! Such as, 1.
Minneapolis comic bookstore owner Greg Ketter.
He owns Dreamhaven Books and Comics in Minneapolis and has done since the late 70s. Well worth the visit if you're local.
Their website is currently down from the sheer amount of traffic hitting it and Greg has said after they catch up with the online orders he's going to rest up for a bit before they get things back online, but for anyone outside of Twin Cities who wants to have a browse, their ABE books and Ebay where they post rare/collector items are still up.

if you want to see how fast something can change from a "right" to a "privilege" in people's minds, try suggesting it should be extended to children, immigrants, and prisoners
they need to invent clubbing for boring sober people who don't like loud music or crowded group dancing. what's the "she should be at the club" for this hypothetical not-me demographic.
roundup of various common suggestions in the notes:
"the library": a nice space to hang, granted, but not really the same fun social vibes.
"the night-library that serves pink drinks and tea": okay okay, now we're cooking.
"coffee shop": a bit more social and rambunctious than the average library, but still too plain imo.
"the museum": still a tad too formal I feel like but definitely not opposed.
"the book club": again, not opposed, but book clubs do have the catch of requiring you to plan ahead and do some homework to really enjoy it, not a very "I'm bored on a friday and want to go do something fun" activity.
"wine tasting":
"dnd/ttrpg nights": unfortunately I'm stupid and am bad at these games. I mean unfortunately these hypothetical people are stupid and bad at these games.
"arcades with cover fees at the door and then free games": won't even lie this sounds killer, gonna see if they have any of those in my area.
"babe the club is wherever you feel confident in yourself, life is a club and I’m just chilling at a bus stop": beautiful. poetic. heart warming. she should be at the bus stop.
first good suggestion on this post in years, FINALLY true equality
